  • Between screencapping New Town Killers and the new advert ITV has out for their new dramas, I've had the line "Hit the floor and crawl to your daddy" stuck in my head for most of the week. Which might not even make that much sense in relation to the film. But still. It's not unpleasant.

  • Watching New Town Killers also got me thinking about another Scottish murderer from one of my fandoms, Tony Gordon. It turns out someone has totally put up the Tony and Maria episodes from Siege Week up on Youtube, here and here. Oh, I quite love them, even though that's sort of the saddest part of their story. Although having watched New Town Killers now, film and TV, what is it with Scottish guys dressed all in black chasing or obsessing over younger character dressed sometimes in red, even red hoods? Even Wade in Sea of Souls when he was seeming a bit sinister had those times when he dressed all in black, and Craig definitely had some red on in those episodes, because I remember noticing. Possibly this is a theme that has only occured to me because I look for that sort of thing sometimes, although they did namecheck Little Red Riding Hood in the Tony/Maria storyline. It just seems odd that it's usually Scottish guys doing the all in black thing. Hmm.

  • Also, while looking for Tony and Maria pictures again, I came across some promo ads I never saw that ITV put out a year or so ago based on their "Summer of Love" theme. So I saved them, obviously.

Cut for pictures. Coronation Street pictures )

NEO: Whee! I'm almost-

AGENT SMITH: *BLAM BLAM BLAM*

NEO: *is totally dead*

AGENT SMITH: Awww. Now I have...no one to play with.

AGENT JONES: This is why we can't have nice things, Smith.

I love [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda Jones. And her book. Everyone should read it.

I think I'm going to go back to Nottingham this weekend. Or, rather, on Bank Holiday Monday or Tuesday, since my mother will probably cry if I miss even a split second of the Easter Holidays. It really is annoying that the only time I get to enjoy Sky TV and 24 hour internet access and other people cooking for me is the time I usually have to write most of my essays. But that's university for you, I guess. And work really doesn't seem to be happening here, or progressing very slowly, and whether it's because I'm slightly pathetic or because I'm just not used to studying here - it really needs to stop. About this time next month, I will be DONE WITH ALL THE UNI WORK I NEED TO DO FOR MY DEGREE. LIKE EVER. DUDES. Which will let me enjoy X3 in peace, though. But I sort of need to get on with it. I would comfort myself with the utter lack of responsibility I'll have in June, except that I'll probably need to start looking for a job :(

There was Sea of Souls squee today. It gave me a sudden beautiful glimpse of what being part of a proper (read: more than 4 people) fandom must be like, where people just sort of do that, all the time. Brought back all my old Craig/Wade, Craig/Nick, and some Craig/Wade/Nick plotbunnies back, and made me pine for the DVDs in Nottingham. Resolution One for after I finish uni: write. Regularly. All the damn time. It doesn't matter what. Or if it's rubbish. Just write dammit!

Oh, also my takeaway Pizza Hut pizza had a pubic hair on it. I didn't finish it.
girlofprey: (Craig/Wade)
Oh - also I wrote some fic. Which I'm actually pretty pleased with :)

Title: Losing It
Fandom: Sea of Souls, Craig/Wade
Rating: PG, for some strong language.
Disclaimer: I love them, but I don't own them.
Notes: Probably some blatant disregard for hospital procedure, and visiting hours. Um - character death?
Feedback: Much appreciated.
Wordcount: 2,984 (personal best!)
Summary: Wade dies in the hospital, not at the castle. Craig is with him. Because sometimes canon isn't good enough. And because [livejournal.com profile] jekesta insisted.

It's really awfully cold lately.

Sea of Souls Finale )

Am reading Jane Eyre. And I'm quite enjoying it. But I feel that since I'm on page 130, and I need to have all 450 pages finished by Monday night (as WELL as watching Life on Mars), I may need to finish it without the leisurely care I've been taking over the beginning. Hmph.

:;dances you all::
girlofprey: (Craig Wade Dies young)
I just spent about 15 minutes writing about a box. Then another 20 writing about a wooden spoon, which ended with me calling myself a philistine for never eating out anywhere but at Pizza Hut. Both were suprisingly intriguing. Hmm.

Also, Possible TMI, I suppose )

I'll take this opportunity to mention it's the last episode of Sea of Souls Series 3 tomorrow night. And will feature Paul McGann, aka Eighth Doctor, as a charmingly sinister sorceror/businessman/some such.

And Series 3 is still not as good as Series 2. Especially not 205/6. ::Sigh::
girlofprey: (R for raygun)
Oof. Busy day today. I'm going to drop the radio, I think. Too much hard work, not enough interesting/impressive stuff to be doing. Had my first meeting with the book free-for-all though, aka the Nottingham Penguin Book Club, wherein they (often) give us the books we're supposed to be reading. Like, forever. Now I just have to read the bastard things.

[livejournal.com profile] alicamel and [livejournal.com profile] jekesta have hit upon the best idea ever for improving Neighbours. Apart from canonical gay love, of course. Well, more canonical.

Oh, and I was quickly reviewing/screencapping Sea of Souls episodes 205/6 last night (possibly in preparation for fic). Two things I noticed: the place Craig first goes to watch Wade's act is called the 'Gaiety Theatre' - ! - and when Craig is first asking to 'study' Wade, what he specifically says he wants to investigate is 'the seductiveness of [his] act'

::headdesk::

Just when I think this show can't get any gayer, oh, they go and prove me wrong!

Life On Mars, episode 5 )

Also, [livejournal.com profile] lakester is great! I love her (him?)! S/he sent me a Rebus 'Dead Souls' DVD )

I have the Fanfiction book by Sheenagh Pugh. I have The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave. I have a new Constantine novel. I have preordered Green Wing. I do not have my Draco and the Malfoys CD yet. Sadface fullstop. And I do not have the Mighty Boosh boxset, which having seen last night's episode I so totally regret. An example:

(Spider and Rudi. They are mexicans in a band together. Rudi is a psychadelic priest, Spider a 'beast' who just wants to do sex with ladies and has eight penises. They are in a Mexican town for no reason, and Rudi wants them to fight the Betamax Bandit)

SPIDER: You are always like this! Always want to stick around! It is like Glastonbury, eh? You remember? We should have just gone, when the others went, but no you were all 'lets stick around, let's wait', and then we got roped into cleaning up! Me, you and Carlos from Santana. Hoovering. For six weeks! We could have gone when the Who went. Didn't see [somebody from the Who] wearing an apron!
RUDI: Well, you know, what goes around comes around.
SPIDER: What you mean by that?
RUDI: I mean, what goes around comes around. Maybe someday [someone from the Who] will be doing the hoovering.
SPIDER: [Someone from the Who] hoovers for no man.

And later, when they beat the Betamax bandit:

SPIDER: (to Betamax Bandit) And now I'm gonna rewind you...like the bitch you are.

I love this show!
girlofprey: (R for raygun)
I'm meant to have read Robinson Crusoe by now. I haven't. You'd think a book about living on a desert island would be vaguely fun and interesting, even if the life itself is probably not. But no. Crusoe has spent about five pages (altogether) trying to figure out how to make a basket. And talking about how he never thought about God at all, EVEN THOUGH GOD IS ALL HE EVER TALKS ABOUT. Hmph. It's not a patch on Lost.

I was planning to order a whole bunch of stuff from dvd.co.uk this weekend, with my secure laptop and all, and what with my masses of repaid Credit Fraud money. On further thought it occured to me that if I spent all my money on the Internet, I would once again not have any. For, say, buying things in town, which I enjoy. Or going to the cinema. Say, the Cuban Cinema Season at the Broadway. Or doing anything at all. But if I don't spend any of it on Stuff, I'm most likely to just buy takeout for weeks, and have nothing.

This is why you shouldn't think. >:|

It's getting close to the Connotations 'want to come again?' time, I think. Which I really do, but I'm not sure I'll be able to afford it again. Of course, I'll hopefully have a job by the summer, but I don't tend to have very much luck in that area. Hmmm. I do want to see my LJ friends again. And do squeeing. My RL is tragically squee-free, mostly. Hmm.

Maybe I'll just hold my own con. Sea of Souls Con. We can have panels like 'How Gay is Craig?', and 'What is the Point of Justine?'. I've got a double bed and some floor space. And I could bake a cake! Sort of. It might be a ghost cake. It would be great though.

Back to Nottingham in a few hours ::sniff::

Things which make me happy:

Brokeback To the Future. Just go watch it.

And, for my fellow Snakes on a Plane (Best Film, 2006!) fans, a Complete and Unedited Transcript of the trailer (this piss-take link brought to you by Empire magazine)

I am actually, actually trying to decide if I really want to buy a Rebus DVD, just because it involves John Hannah (aka John Wade) as a detective, looking for Iain Robertson (aka Craig), the son of his ex-girlfriend who has run away from home to apparently be with some actor whose name I don't know (aka Nick). All of these akas are Sea of Souls references which you might not understand. On the one hand I don't care so much for this Rebus show. But on the other THIS IS A THING I COULD NOT HAVE IMAGINED IN MY MOST BEAUTIFUL CRACKED-OUT DREAMS. But I was already planning to order The Mighty Boosh boxset and Blackpool this weekend though. Hmph. Decisions, decisions...

I feel like I have been away FOREVER. This is a complete lie, because it has in fact been a mere 2 days. And 120 entries on my flist. Because I chose not to make the massive (20 minute!) walk to campus to check my email on Wednesday, having no other purpose out of the house, or in general lately. I should really be doing reading for upcoming modules, but I'm at that horrible point when you really don't want to get into new stuff, and probably should have already started. Hmph.

Anyway. To recap:

Monday:

I write too much. TV-talk )

Tuesday:

Tuesday talk )

Wednesday:

TOTALLY WENT TO A NICK CAVE CONCERT. Probably quite a bit of talk about that )

And [livejournal.com profile] jekesta sent me DVDs! ::loves on her:: And a Christmas card, of BEAUTY. It was like a second Christmas, only with more black. I watched the (Sea of Souls) episode from series two that I never watched, due to my nephew being born, and was delighted at Craig climbing mountains adorably in a plastic windjacket. And he had sexual chemistry with a girl! He totally did! And I didn't even care, because they'd done a paranormal investigation and climbed some hills together, so that's okay. And she was cool, and had a fiance to get back to anyway. But it was so great! Beautifully, beautifully great! They can totally do sex secretly for a while until Wade steals his heart. Yes ::love::

Thursday:

Came home. Some randomness, and talk of toilets )

So yes. Am home now, until Sunday evening. Laptop fully attached to the internet, of which I take great advantage. I have downloaded the Divinyls' I Touch Myself, which is simply THE MOST GLORIOUS SONG EVER (for the moment). It goes with every pairing. A person made a new Craig/Wade songvid at [livejournal.com profile] slashysouls! If I knew how to songvid, I would totally songvid Craig/Wade to this song. Does Craig touch himself a lot? It would be THE BEST SONGVID ever if he did. Probably I should stop talking about songvids if I don't know how to make them. BUT IT WOULD BE THE BEST SONGVID EVER.

::abuses the internet:: :)

In other news:

The weekend )

In fandom news:

  • Those of you on my flist (::waves to [livejournal.com profile] aegflota::) who thought the guy who played Dan in Nathan Barley (aka Julian Barratt) was totally gorgeous will be pleased to hear he is back on TV tonight in the first of the second season of The Mighty Boosh. And may have to mate with the Yeti. It looks quite amusing, and probably I'll watch it anyway.

  • And, after deciding that it was so much hassle getting American Gothic on DVD in the first place there was no chance of getting a Region 2 release, I was delighted to learn from my film mags that it will be out on March 20th :D ::dances for it::

  • My Empire magazine also did a little piece on the upcoming best film of 2006, Snakes on a Plane. I have no words. Just incoherent glee :D

Dylan Moran is playing in Nottingham in June. I feel that I should go, since I have often kicked myself for not going to see Monster. But hmmm. Money. Hmm.

Apparently I have to start deciding what I want for my 21st birthday. Which can't just be a gift certificate for HMV, sadly. But is not going to be a gold watch, tradition be damned. Hmm.

::goes off to check flist::

Visit from parents did not happen due to Jack being ill - not seriously, but enough that they want to stick around and help Katie out. Hence I am back spending my free time on the internet as usual. Going to a comedy thing later with flatmates and some of J's friends, and given that it is Sunday I'm not sure what to do between now and then. Aside from Burger King, yo.

Watched Sea of Souls ep three last night. Thoughts )

And, because everyone else is doing it:

Ten ways you know you're reading a Girlofprey story )

I just realised I can probably buy Adrian Mole books at WH Smith, and still have a £15 gift card left over from Christmas. Duh! ::smacks self:: I also have a sudden striking desire to start watching Life on Mars. And slash John Simm (Raskolnikov! Eee!) and the blond-haired one, in gritty Seventies fashion. Probably I will.

Sea of Souls! )

Most of you will not know what that was all about. La!

Hmm. Have finished fairytale essay. Am now on marathon House of Leaves reading session, which is awfully enjoyable, but needs to be over soon if I'm going to write on it. Still need to research labyrinth myths, read the rest of my tutor's Danielewski essay, and - decide what I'm going to write in the essay. And write it, finishing it with plenty of time to edit it and my other essays, preferably by Wednesday night, so I have the whole of Thursday till 3.30 to print them off and hand them in. And then I can start revising for my exams on the 18th and 19th. I am very tired, and going to bed at stupid o'clock quite often. But it will be over soon. Before the third episode of Sea of Souls! Yes.

And finally: Don't you think Bush looks tired?
girlofprey: (Craig Tough Crowd)
First post of 2006. Omg.

I have been mostly not doing my Gothic essay. Am now three days over my 'deadline', and heading past the end of my wordcount, as usual. I'm even at the interesting bit, where I talk about homosexuality and how they're all actually gay, and still the words do not flow. Especially not when I need a critic's name suddenly and have to OMG, get up and go find it. But it's still coming along quite nicely, and possibly I'm just cutting and pasting critics' opinion in delightful patterns, but I'm still quite pleased with it. I think I have proved beyond all shadow of a doubt that Dracula and Harker and Mina and Lucy all have their own random gender inconsistencies, and should run away and live together by the sea. I might have left out the part about the house by the sea. But I think it's implied.

Gone With the Wind is on downstairs. I watched a bit while eating lunch. Now I want to make a film with random wide angle montage sequences, and melodramatic expositional text (SHERMAN!). I watched the bit with Scarlett and Melanie killing the Yankee as well. It's nice that, despite all the Oppression and everything, if you watch old films or read old literature, you can still often find great, strong, fun female characters, even if they do go a bit odd and shaded at the edges. Yes :) Also it occured to me that Craig/Wade is a bit like Scarlett/Rhett, really.

(in the castle/cave)
CRAIG: (worried eyes) But...where will I go? What will I do?
WADE: Frankly my dear...(laboured breath)...I don't give a damn ::dies::

Except with Scottish accents instead of Deep South ones, of course.

Still blatantly in the Squee aftermath of Jekesta Knowing My Fandom (there should be a Sea of Souls/House of Leaves crossover! Craig in the House!). It is perhaps wrong that a mere two hours of television in which one of my OTP dies should give me such intense and apparently immortal joy. And yet I don't care :D

Spoilerific information about Sea of Souls Series Three episodes is here. Apparently they're doing six one-hour adventures now instead of three two-parters. That's BBC 1, 9:00 pm, January 7th. And Spoilers )
girlofprey: (Craig Pretty text)
[livejournal.com profile] jekesta has seen Sea of Souls! And knows the truth! Fandom of 3 - we are a proper fandom now. Oh yes. And Series 3 starts on the 7th of January, and I pray that I've mostly written my essays by then oh I pray. But. I say Craig/Wade! and people know what I mean. Oh. It is good :)

So many opportunities to use the 'isn't Craig pretty?' icon.

::listens to Craig/Wade playlist and is very happy::

Hello!

Oct. 30th, 2005 12:33 pm
girlofprey: (Anton Gloom)
Wheee, my parents came down yesterday. We did not do very much that was glorious, just went round the town and for coffee and pizza and such. But they bought me a necklace and a book and some halloween chocolate from Marks and Spencer's. I feel like one of those bored, intellectual princesses you see in films. Yay. And we went to see Wallace and Grommit/The Curse of the Wererabbit. I like Grommit. I preferred the one with the sheep and evil robot. Yes. Got home very late, read until even later, and then completely STOLE an hour from time, so I got to to stay up even later! Oh yes ::skillz::

Parents also brought new family drama. Those easily upset/who just plain don't care, look away now. Drama! )

I have random spots all over one of my hands. Possibly I will go see the doctor. Hmmm.

Ooh, I watched QI. Stephen so blatantly wants to go to Belgium with Alan to see the carrot museum. And to Canada to see the lakes. Verycoldskinnydipping!fic? Perhaps. Although Alan woul probably mostly hang back and be all 'yeah. wow.', and enjoy the parts in the hotel room most of all. Yes.

A new person has turned up on [livejournal.com profile] slashysouls! Our numbers grow every day! And if [livejournal.com profile] jekesta would at least watch the DVD I so kindly lent her, she could have an opinion on it all. But apparently not!

Reading more Lemony Snicket. I like Lemony Snicket. It confuses the hell out of me :)

Wanadoo still being complete wankers - apparently it's in the terms and conditions that we can't cancel the contract just because the wirelessness doesn't work. W. t. f?

And some more Night Watch talk )
girlofprey: (R for raygun)
Things that happened this weekend:

  • I cannot get on the internet. I am using the stupid Wanadoo wireless adaptor and putting the stupid Wanadoo box in the right mode, and I've done the security key so many times I can recite it by heart, and still it will not work. I call the technician people and just confound them. They have no advice for me, except for one thing, which I cannot do because the adaptor is now just not working. Much like my flatmate's, who up to press had all his problems fixed. I am annoyed.

  • My dad has no job. For proper. Which is slightly distressing. But apparently he has three interviews this week, and (according to mum) doesn't seem hugely depressed about it, so I am holding off worrying just yet. But I probably won't be asking for more money anytime soon.

  • I have a 670 page book I'm meant to have read for Tuesday. In 3 days I have read 100 pages. And I have a play to read for Tuesday as well. I sense, with my incredible deduction skills, I will not quite manage it. No.

  • I went to the Goose Fair with Kathy and Jos! Waltzers and dodgems and freakshows, oh my! I bought a glow necklace. And played Hook-a-duck. Which is essentially buying a teddy bear. And marshmallows on a stick. And a glowing necklace. And Kathy had her fortune told for £10. We giggled at her mightily, oh yes. It was a good night :)

  • A person a person a person joined [livejournal.com profile] slashysouls!!! See!! A person I don't know! A fellow fan! Who saw the Craig/Wade! Who wants to write a crossover with Hellblazer! Which is so yes! ::is dead of happy:: :)

  • I went to see Night Watch! ::is even more happy:: Which is basically vampires in Russia (and seers and witches and shapeshifters, but the vampires do the most) And it was quite worth the wait, although bits were confusing, and it was so obviously mostly a set up for the rest of the trilogy. But there will be a rest of the trilogy, and I think fairly soon, judging from imdb evidence. And it was so pretty! I need icons. And the guy I thought would clearly be evil for he was too pretty to be good was in fact good (mostly!) and I don't fancy the villain for once!! Although I would like to know Spoiler ). And it really is quite good because there is hardly any battling, mostly angsting and detective-ing and legends and angst, and really really GOOD special effects. It was pretty. And I saw hints of slash. And there is a fic community, though the fic is somewhat theoretical at the moment. And why can I not find any mention of the original books anywhere? >:| But it was good. Yay.

Probably more things happened, but I really do have huge amounts of reading to do. If I had the internet at HOME...but never mind. I have read my flist in it's entirety, but commenting is slightly beyond me. At uni, anyway. Hopefully Wanadoo will get off their arses and sort us out soon. Or be switched for a more helpful server, oh yes.
