Visit from parents did not happen due to Jack being ill - not seriously, but enough that they want to stick around and help Katie out. Hence I am back spending my free time on the internet as usual. Going to a comedy thing later with flatmates and some of J's friends, and given that it is Sunday I'm not sure what to do between now and then. Aside from Burger King, yo.
Watched Sea of Souls ep three last night. As predicted, there was a Sad Lack of Craig. But he was still eee! when he was there. 'Now that's what I call Craig' - he's such a beautiful, beautiful geek! And he fixes iPods, or whatever the hell that was! And a return of the crazy shirts! ::love:: I like the was he was all 'breakfast?' too. They're such a great team. But if the show people are in fact trying to get him together with Justine, I will be upset. I have up to now been taking all such comments on the show to be mere contrast/misunderstanding about their real, 'sibling-like' relationship that the show creators talk about in interviews - but it's been going on for a while now, and I'm starting to get angrily suspicious...
Anyway, besides SLoC, I thought it was quite a good episode. I love the way the show has gone from 'oooh, was it spooky, or is there a rational explanation?' to 'Moths in the bathroom! Fire extinguisher through the unbroken glass! Woo woo woo!'. All the reactions and acting was quite good, although Justine's 'a dark desire' line made me giggle. I still don't understand why the horrible guy was dressed like a prison guard though. Or why he beat up Stuart/went for Monaghon. Or exactly why Stuart gave Chloe his mother's necklace. And for some reason I found the explanation a bit of an anticlimax. But it was still good, and I thought the red squares were a nice, clever touch. I hated Chloe, and the other friend by the end of it too, but there was clearly a bit of OT3-ness going on there. Which was nice. Anyway. Very atmospheric. Very green. Very nice. 4 stars for the episode - 1 star for Craigness.
And, because everyone else is doing it:
I just realised I can probably buy Adrian Mole books at WH Smith, and still have a £15 gift card left over from Christmas. Duh! ::smacks self:: I also have a sudden striking desire to start watching Life on Mars. And slash John Simm (Raskolnikov! Eee!) and the blond-haired one, in gritty Seventies fashion. Probably I will.

And, because everyone else is doing it:
- It doesn't happen very often.
- It doesn't take very long.
- You've never heard of the fandom. Or at least, were not aware it was something that HAD a 'fandom'.
- You don't really understand why the pairing is together, and sometimes the pairing doesn't seem to either!
- There will be no sort of actual sex. Or kissing. Or actual thoughts leading to that end from any character. Explicitness is for the weak!
- Nothing, in fact, will happen much. Just lots of angsty thinking about various events, and pretty other characters.
- M/m slash, yo. Despite the fact of no. 5.
- Lots of run on descriptive sentences of thought, that may make you a bit lost. Equally, if things do happen, probably there will be lots of abrupt, short sentences, that may make things a bit stilted.
- If there is conversation, you get descriptions of everything. EVERYTHING, yo. Tone of voice. Direction of eyes. Change of tone of voice/direction of eyes. Pauses, measured to the nanosecond. You don't have to imagine it yourself! I do it for you! The curse of having a too-vivid visual imagination.
- The title is just one word, that may or may not seem to have been picked completely at random. It most often will not have, however, down to my insistence of particular pronunciations (Persephone...)

Date: 2006-01-22 11:38 am (UTC)I have woe for it.
I HATE MOTHS HATE THEM I WAS SO TERRIFIED I MIGHT HAVE SCREAMED A BIT.
I hate lack of Craig.
I am not convinced about the whole everything is spooky and it's not all left open so it might be scary might not. I liked that. I don't know. Hm.

Date: 2006-01-23 09:30 am (UTC)Can I have my Season Two DVDs back soon please? I found pictures of an episode I did not see in a magazine of Craig looking ADORABLE in a plastic windjacket in a river, and NEED to SEE. Yo.

I thought you liked the new thing! Clearly I am BAD at reading your signs of hate. I also liked it the uncertainty last season, and think it made it more spooky, but am just generally amused at how overboard they are now going with the 'It's real!' thing. Blatant space-time perversion with fire extinguishers! Dude!
You should download Episode 2 of this Season. It was GREAT and had lots of Craig, and is gay. Beautifully, excessively gay. Yes. Yo.
:;dances you homeishly!::

Date: 2006-01-23 04:09 pm (UTC)I do not like the new thing. Possibly I might have done at one stage. I think they were better for not doing that.
I LOVE CRAIG.
I have downloaded ep 2 I just need to watch it. Yes. I WILL DO THIS.

Date: 2006-01-24 05:01 am (UTC)Also, I had massive trouble figuring out which one of those two was sleeping with Stuart.
I don't think the writers would put him together with Justine just because it'd be a bit left-of-field at this stage. Also, they have no romantic chemistry together (though I do lvoe watching them argue).
I think horrible guy was dressed as a security guard, and my reading of it was that given his mum was in a cleaner's outfit, Stuart's brain was trying to make them make sense in their environment.
No idea why Stuart gave her the necklace, though. I was cheering him at the end when they were being all simpering and he was just going 'actually, no. I'm going now'
I'm trying not to slash the LOM blokes. But it's difficult.

Date: 2006-01-24 06:01 am (UTC)Basically, it started out with bits of Stuart's dream, and him waking him screaming, and the other boy was all worried and angry and 'he should see a doctor!', but Chloe was just messing about on her laptop and talking about her tests, and 'Tomorrow night', which Stuart insisted on because he 'needs to sleep!'.
Then it went to the office, where Craig was fixing Justine's walkman or something and talking about work, and she asked him about a picture which was of a cow in Spain whose owner said the Virgin Mary had visited it three times! He knew because the cow told him. Craig fixed her machine and gave her a mix tape with it, and then left, and he was just gone because Justine was doing a sleep study, and only needed to be there to supervise, and only called Monaghan because things got a bit weird. Chloe hid things from her and said it was just a test for an overdue paper, instead of her OBSSESSION with her boyfriend's dreams.
The woman was a fellow paranormalist, I think, who invited Monaghan out to 'discuss work' or a case or something, but arranged a romantic restaurant and asked for a booth and wore a pretty dress, and made it fairly clear she was trying to seduce him. And that was pretty much it.

Aaaah. That makes more sense. I thought maybe his mum WAS a cleaner. Thank you! :)
Craig has no romantic chemistry with anyone, except scary men. And yes, the end bit was great. All 'we must work this out!', 'No, I am blowing this popsicle stand. Have great sex without me!'. Hurrah :D
I'm trying not to slash the LOM blokes
::is just generally mystified by this attitude:: Slash for all!

Date: 2006-01-25 03:41 am (UTC)I really can't see the Justine/Craig element, even from a none slashy perspective they have no chemistry at all and just don't work for me, WOE.
It was a fairly good episode, despite the no-craigness, but I am beginning to think that he may have an extremely subtle psychic power of some kind, what with just happening to not be able to sleep when the big OMG NIGHTMARES ARE REAL episode, and just happening to put dancing in the street on his mix tape...ok, so the evidence is a little scant at the moment, I'm sure the BBC intends to play the "everyone's psychic" card!
Also, Life On Mars is just brilliant and Sam should clearly be slashed with Chris. *nods*

Date: 2006-01-25 06:26 am (UTC)If Craig turned out to be psychic as well I would be HAPPY BEYOND BELIEF. I too noticed the 'couldn't sleep' thing, and cheerfully ignored the irony the writers were probably trying to go for. He would be a great psychic. All passing out every now and then, and not really believing in them even when he's having them, but still running around to 'check' things are alright, and save people randomly. And he and Justine really would be like 'brother and sister'! Oh, it would be GREAT. I may write to the BBC. Yes.
