  • Between screencapping New Town Killers and the new advert ITV has out for their new dramas, I've had the line "Hit the floor and crawl to your daddy" stuck in my head for most of the week. Which might not even make that much sense in relation to the film. But still. It's not unpleasant.

  • Watching New Town Killers also got me thinking about another Scottish murderer from one of my fandoms, Tony Gordon. It turns out someone has totally put up the Tony and Maria episodes from Siege Week up on Youtube, here and here. Oh, I quite love them, even though that's sort of the saddest part of their story. Although having watched New Town Killers now, film and TV, what is it with Scottish guys dressed all in black chasing or obsessing over younger character dressed sometimes in red, even red hoods? Even Wade in Sea of Souls when he was seeming a bit sinister had those times when he dressed all in black, and Craig definitely had some red on in those episodes, because I remember noticing. Possibly this is a theme that has only occured to me because I look for that sort of thing sometimes, although they did namecheck Little Red Riding Hood in the Tony/Maria storyline. It just seems odd that it's usually Scottish guys doing the all in black thing. Hmm.

  • Also, while looking for Tony and Maria pictures again, I came across some promo ads I never saw that ITV put out a year or so ago based on their "Summer of Love" theme. So I saved them, obviously.

Maria's face looks a bit weird, but still. It's probably wrong how much I love this picture. Oh Tony. Oh Maria.

The other ones were of Steve and Becky:

Which I also really like, partly for the fact that Becky is barefoot. It might have some unfortunate implications about women being barefoot and pregnant or whatever. But also, barefoot!

And the other one was of Jason and Tina:

Which might be my favourite of them all. It makes it look like Jason is WAY more in love with David than with Tina, or that Eileen or Sean is. And that they really don't care about having peeping toms or burglars really, given that they have no window. Oh. I kind of love ridiculous ads for shows.

I also found the TV advert for the "Summer of Love", here on Digitalspy.co.uk. OH GOD. I LOVE TONY AND MARIA. I know that's an ad, but I just can't believe him or her or how he holds her or most things about them, oh my God.

THE WINDOW PICTURE IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN. I love how they have a MILLION framed copies of that one picture on their walls. And I love the man who isn't even PRETEnding not to stare at them through the window.

That man is David Platt! That's basically what he does, obsess over people he's decided he's in love with/loves. I'm not sure if it's obvious in the picture, but the pictures on the walls are of him too. HE'S WATCHING THEM.

I quite like Carla, but I also remember her from when - it's very complicated. Basically, Carla was married to Paul, whose brother Liam was dating Maria. Then Paul died and Liam comforted Carla and there were sparks between them. But Maria was pregnant and she and Liam were engaged. So Carla set about sort of trying to wreck their relationship, and there was a thing where Maria and Liam went off on a walking holiday and he fell off a cliff, and he was half-unconscious calling out Carla's name in the ambulance helicopter, and they told Maria about this. So she was convinced Liam was in love with Carla, which seemed pretty likely, and she wasn't jealous or weird or anything, she just mostly wanted to know the truth. But he insisted he loved her.

Then there was a load of weird stuff, and Carla came to their wedding trying to publicly stop it. Then Maria's baby died while she was pregnant, but she'd been convinced he'd been with Carla the night before so he wouldn't listen when she tried to tell him, he just wanted to tell her he hadn't been with Carla. She went off and had a stillbirth on her own, and he eventually found out, and then they discussed things and said he did have feelings for Carla, and Maria threw him out, mostly for lying to her and making her feel like she was crazy. He went and spent the night with Carla, then the next day Maria said she wanted to try to work things out, so he went back to her. Carla was furious and ended up getting together with Tony, but then later on she and Liam were doing some business together, just before she was due to marry Tony, and Liam decided he loved her, not Maria, and wanted her to leave Tony for him. But Tony knew something was going on, and he had Liam killed. And then everything else, the covering up the murder, Carla finding out and running off, Tony trying to help Maria because he felt bad, and then them getting together, happened.

So I do like Carla, but I do really remember her from when she was just messing Liam and Maria about, and messing Tony about even though Tony was a bit weird, and being REALLY awful to Maria. She's kind of doing it again now, trying to seduce Peter away from Leanne, especially after she knew Leanne had an affair with Nick. And so even though I like her, and she did have some lovely scenes with Maria after the awfulness of her storyline with Liam, and after Liam died, I find it hard to like her all the time. And Maria - was really incredibly good during the storyline with Liam, then after Liam died, and then with Tony. Way better than she is at the moment. And in terms of Tony and Maria, Siege Week is not really the best advert for them. They were always a little fucked up, obviously, but Siege Week is when he comes back way more mental than before, and quite different to how they'd left him, having confessed and gone to prison. But I kind of love it anyway. Mostly because of how much I loved Tony Gordon and Tony/Maria before though, most likely.
