Hello. It's me. I didn't get stuck somewhere on the way back from Connotations, I just haven't been posting. I'd like to apologise again about the lack of posting or commenting. Sorry about that.

But I did go to Connotations. I took longer than I probably needed to getting to Lancaster on the Thursday and then drove up with [livejournal.com profile] jekesta, [livejournal.com profile] alicamel and [livejournal.com profile] calapine on Friday. The hotel screwed us over slightly by booking boxing as well as the con on the Friday night so we had to have the first couple of panels in a weird hot room where we normally have vid shows or pimping, but [livejournal.com profile] jekesta and I had a lovely double room, with a view of the beach from the bathroom, and a view of the sea and what turned out to be a seal enclosure at the aquarium next door from the main room, although we didn't find out about the seal enclosure thing until we were just about to leave. I've forgiven the hotel so many things because it was near the beach. But the next day we were back in the main room for panels, so it was a bit better. And we had panels and discussed fanfic trends and minority pairings and femslash and we played slash pictionary and there was cake and I watched some of Spirited Away and I learned about huge fannish events that I hadn't noticed at the time and one of the panels was slightly livened up by a bee and we played slash trap, which is AWESOME, even if we didn't ever get the Tyler/El Blanco High School AU I was hoping for. And I had a great time, Connotations hurrah!

On the Monday after we checked out, [livejournal.com profile] jekesta, [livejournal.com profile] calapine and [livejournal.com profile] nerdcakes and I all went to aquarium down the road as well. We saw beautiful fish, and a shark, and some seals doing the best chasing and twirling in the water ever. I fear I might have been slightly ruined for any other aquarium, because I don't think any of them could ever have such great seal chasing and twirling again. Oh well.

Also I won Sirius Black and a red flower thing in the Connotations raffle. Hurray.

Since then I have managed to a) catch up on some of the things I didn't watch or listen to while I was at Connotations, b) get into town twice before the shops closed to buy (cheapish) things I didn't need, c) go to the Goose Fair with my parents and oldest nephew, which was pretty great, I had Rocky Road fudge and a freshly (cooked? baked?) made doughnut, d) pay the rent with money I'm going to have to borrow off my parents till my housing benefit comes through, and e) catch up on some of the things I didn't watch while I was out at the Goose Fair. I know. CHECK OUT THE ACHIEVEMENT. Tonight I'm aiming for f) apply for at least one job and g) fill in my Jobseeker's diary, and then tomorrow for h) get up in time for my Jobseeker's appointment, i) go to my Jobseeker's appointment, and j) try to sort out getting some money from my ISA so I can pay my parents back the money I owe them. Who knows.

In the meantime: Harper's Island, spoilers up to 1.10 )

Anyway. Back to those things I have to do.

I also went to the Goose Fair. I went on a sailing boat ride with my nephew that turned out to be a bit more like the waltzers than we would have liked, and the sled part of a carousel, and a soaking wet bouncy castle with my nephew, the dodgems, and the waltzers. It was grand fun, even if it did start raining about an hour into it. Because I was out though, I haven't seen tonight's Strictly Come Dancing yet, and it doesn't seem to be up on the iPlayer. Hopefully it will be up before the results show tomorrow. You'd think they'd want to get it on there while people can still vote. Though I suppose it's difficult because the show's filmed live. Oh well ::sigh::.

I can't believe they did a whole section on last night's It Takes Two about how Mark was too gentle for the tango and couldn't really get into the character, when they'd just the night before showed him and Hayley dancing and said how he had the right look, and you could totally tell it was a tango even without the music, which was good. I like Mark. He seems like quite a lovely person. I hope he doesn't go out this week.

Also, Hayley was training in her shorts. I love her!

I also saw tonight's It Takes Two. Len was a bit rubbish, but then he called Craig a "stupid boy". That was quite good. And made up for a lot of things.

Austin and Erin are very good as well. I hope his back doesn't cause him too much trouble.

I don't think I explained very well about Toby last week. This is a summary of his first day on Casualty, set to a truly inspired choice of soundtrack. I saw it, and loved him. I hope he gets an onscreen boyfriend. Preferably soon.

In other news, the Goose Fair's back in town. My parents are coming down tomorrow with my nephew and we're going tomorrow evening. It seems like a good time for a poll.

Things that happened this weekend:

  • I cannot get on the internet. I am using the stupid Wanadoo wireless adaptor and putting the stupid Wanadoo box in the right mode, and I've done the security key so many times I can recite it by heart, and still it will not work. I call the technician people and just confound them. They have no advice for me, except for one thing, which I cannot do because the adaptor is now just not working. Much like my flatmate's, who up to press had all his problems fixed. I am annoyed.

  • My dad has no job. For proper. Which is slightly distressing. But apparently he has three interviews this week, and (according to mum) doesn't seem hugely depressed about it, so I am holding off worrying just yet. But I probably won't be asking for more money anytime soon.

  • I have a 670 page book I'm meant to have read for Tuesday. In 3 days I have read 100 pages. And I have a play to read for Tuesday as well. I sense, with my incredible deduction skills, I will not quite manage it. No.

  • I went to the Goose Fair with Kathy and Jos! Waltzers and dodgems and freakshows, oh my! I bought a glow necklace. And played Hook-a-duck. Which is essentially buying a teddy bear. And marshmallows on a stick. And a glowing necklace. And Kathy had her fortune told for £10. We giggled at her mightily, oh yes. It was a good night :)

  • A person a person a person joined [livejournal.com profile] slashysouls!!! See!! A person I don't know! A fellow fan! Who saw the Craig/Wade! Who wants to write a crossover with Hellblazer! Which is so yes! ::is dead of happy:: :)

  • I went to see Night Watch! ::is even more happy:: Which is basically vampires in Russia (and seers and witches and shapeshifters, but the vampires do the most) And it was quite worth the wait, although bits were confusing, and it was so obviously mostly a set up for the rest of the trilogy. But there will be a rest of the trilogy, and I think fairly soon, judging from imdb evidence. And it was so pretty! I need icons. And the guy I thought would clearly be evil for he was too pretty to be good was in fact good (mostly!) and I don't fancy the villain for once!! Although I would like to know Spoiler ). And it really is quite good because there is hardly any battling, mostly angsting and detective-ing and legends and angst, and really really GOOD special effects. It was pretty. And I saw hints of slash. And there is a fic community, though the fic is somewhat theoretical at the moment. And why can I not find any mention of the original books anywhere? >:| But it was good. Yay.

Probably more things happened, but I really do have huge amounts of reading to do. If I had the internet at HOME...but never mind. I have read my flist in it's entirety, but commenting is slightly beyond me. At uni, anyway. Hopefully Wanadoo will get off their arses and sort us out soon. Or be switched for a more helpful server, oh yes.
