Dec. 4th, 2012 09:07 pmMy constant desire to buy make-up even though I don't wear make-up continues to vex me. Sort of like my constant desire to buy alcholic liqueurs even though I don't drink alcohol. Although that's mostly because I like the bottles, and vaguely toy with the idea of learning to make cocktails one day. Still. It would be nice if I could get over both of those things, given that I'm not terribly likely to use them.
Yesterday I called the DWP to ask about my benefits and stuff, just to check they had actually received my sick note and it didn't get lost in the post or something. The guy said it had all arrived, and a payment of £400 had been made to me, which should cash on Thursday. Which is nice. He also said that my evidence for my condition was updated till 17th January, which is odd because my sick note was dated from 12th October (hopefully) and the doctor had put on it that it was supposed to last 8 weeks. But that's what they said. I'm hoping they'll send me a letter out about it all which might explain it a little better, but at least I know that's it all going through and I should be getting some money soon. And today I went and saw the doctor about a personal health issue that's been worrying me for a couple of weeks. Suffice to say, I had a type of exam I've never had before, but the doctor said there was nothing to worry about, which has settled my mind a bit. So those things are sorted. Also I bought my dad's birthday present, since I was up and in town today. Hurrah!
I made an effort to watch some of the snooker yesterday, because Dominic Dale was playing Matthew Stevens and it seemed like a winning combination. Unfortunately Dale was ill, and looked it, and I missed the only frame of four where he did a lot of playing and got a good break and stuff. Matthew Stevens plays beautiful snooker though, so that made up for it, I GUESS. I was extremely confused today whether Dale had gone out of it or not, but I just looked it up and he has. Oh well. SOME DAY I might catch him playing actual snooker again. He's probably better off in bed at the moment, though.
The one thing I will say about the new update page is that the way they space the lines out makes it easier to read and hurts my eyes less. And I suppose I can get used to the font (Ariel? Is it Ariel?). And I suppose it gives you a better idea of exactly how long your post is going to be before you post it.
I had to get up at 8 this morning to book a same-day appointment at the doctor's, and then had to be there for 10.30. Tomorrow I have to get up at 8 again for a workshop thing at my back-to-work service place. Ughhh.
My favourite Christmas carol is 'The Angel Gabriel From Heaven Came'. No-one else I talk to seems to know it, and when I tried to sing it for K back in University, she said it sounded 'scary'. Sigh.

May. 5th, 2012 12:15 amThings I didn't know before now:
Anyway. Other than that I have mostly been a) playing computer games, and b) not watching things on TV. I missed Monday's Coronation Street because there was some sort of football game on, and haven't caught up, which is making it a little awkward to watch the new episodes. Should do that over the weekend I guess. Also, I mostly haven't been watching snooker, even though I do quite love it. I am happy for Ali Carter and Matthew Stevens. Also I have seen Matthew Stevens for the first time, except for vaguely in icons. He looks almost exactly like I thought he would, and I can't tell whether that's because I'm very good at picking out which icons are him and what his face would look like bigger, or because I'm psychic. Either way, hurrah.
Saints Row 2 is going well. I kind of wish you could just stay a scuzzy low-life criminal forever. But then you don't get the respect you deserve. So you have to be a psycho instead. And [spoilers]. Sob. Also I am really enjoying Shadows Of The Damned, but I'm finding it slightly frustrating as well. It's probably the first game I've ever played that is SO combat heavy, and not open world with it. Even in The Darkness, you got to run around doing side-quests, and in Wet, you got the occasional break to just sort of do a puzzle to work out how to get from one area to the next. In Shadows Of The Damned you literally have to do a lot of often pretty difficult combat challenges just to get from one area to the next, and to progress at all. Which can be a little annoying. But it's also the point of the game. And I am enjoying it. So yeah.
Also I went to see Lockout, that film I've been banging on about. I LOVE PETER STORMARE. And Guy Pearce was kind of amazing. I really did enjoy it, it felt quite old-fashioned and sort of B-movie-ish. Which didn't always work, but mostly it was pretty fun. But they did do one thing I didn't like, which I can't even really complain about, because if you watch the film at all it will probably be a spoiler. It was unexpected (for me)! But not that great really. But yeah. Mostly, I liked it.
Oh, also I think I may be a bit in love with Tom from The Apprentice. Everything makes him sad. And none of his team leaders are really good enough for him. I am not expecting this feeling to last, and am mostly expecting him to go next week probably. Although perhaps he will continue to be underappreciated and then exonerated for many more weeks to come. Who knows.
Also Death Valley is on the UK MTV channels (every night at 11pm, weirdly), and I really feel like I should give it a watch, to show there is an audience here and encourage a Region 2 DVD release. Watching recordings off Sky count as ratings, right? But it's sort of hard enough to watch things I've recorded off Sky most of the time anyway. Never mind something I've already seen, and can sort of see again whenever I like. Sigh.
Also it seems like I am, on the other hand, quite enjoying children's programming at the moment. I've been watching Deadly 60 for a while - it is nice, and Steve Backshall is quite nice and enthusiastic - but recently, I've been catching Lockie Leonard after it on CBBC. Which I'm quite enjoying. It's weirdly quite funny and grown-up (some of the time) for a children's programme, although that might say more about my assumptions than it does about the show really. Also, I quite fancy the dad in it. There, I admitted it. I still haven't caught up with Horrible Histories this series though. Missed the beginning while I was at Eastercon, and never watched the shows I recorded of it. Shame.
- So You Think You Can Dance? has been axed, and The Voice, which is on at the moment, has taken it's spot. So much for finding out when it starts again this year.
- I never really thought Duncan Bannatyne was a nice guy, but trying to find out when Dragon's Den is on again this year led me to find out that he's kind of racist (he said fellow Dragon James Caan had an 'unfair advantage' because being born in Pakistan meant he had a tax break, which is apparently part of the reason why James Caan left the show), and a little bit misogynistic - he criticised a woman who tricked a fellow contestant out of his share of their gameshow winnings (which was part of the gameshow), and apparently said "she took the money because she is a woman". Which is lovely. It's always nice when people turn out to be jerks, isn't it?

Apr. 26th, 2012 08:30 pm- ( Spoilers for last night's The Apprentice )
- To celebrate my ESA win on Monday and because I hopefully won't have to worry about money for a little while now, I am now the proud owner of a Playstation 2. They were selling them for £38 in CEX (I love CEX), and for £42 I got one in a box with all the right wires and controllers already in with it, which the guy at the counter claimed 'felt' like it was brand new. Score.
- Audrey was awful to David in Coronation Street on Monday. Even after he threw himself to his knees and looked at her with his most desperate eyes. He had been pretty awful to her though, and she had just had a health scare. I'm hoping things will be better tonight.
- Despite my vague promises, I still haven't watched any snooker lately, except bits and bats (Ding losing and Ali Carter winning, both in highlights things). I understand I missed another Dominic Dale match. Oh well.
- I have been slashing the main character in Infamous 2 with the bad guy (sort of), and then they made it amazing. It was brilliant.

Dec. 5th, 2011 06:12 pmToday I:
- Watched some of the snooker and fell slightly in love with Dominic Dale. I'M SORRY JUDD TRUMP. I try so hard to support you. But I just never do. He was very good again by the end though.
I have a slightly odd relationship with snooker. I really enjoy it, but my actual commitment to watching matches is sort of...in and out. But then there are particular players to whom I seem to have the same reaction as in this Hark! A Vagrant strip. Except not sexual. Mostly. In any case, previously this has only really been John Higgins. But today Dominic Dale sort of joined those ranks. Well done to him. I wish he had won his match. - Having seen quite a lot of videogame art on Tumblr and having recently fell in love with (though still not finished) the game Wet, I decided to search for 'wet' on Tumblr. I won't be doing that again.
- I was going to call my doctor and arrange an appointment before my current sick note runs out again, but I checked it today and apparently I'm good until the 28th. And the last I remember, you can only make appointments at my doctor's surgery for the following week, unless I'm very much mistaken. So I don't really know what to do about it now. I decided to not call today and maybe try going in and asking about it tomorrow, or some other time.
- I got my mum to go and put various bits of cash I had stashed around the house into my bank account, so I can actually buy some things. Like tickets for my trip to London this weekend. Hurrah!

Dec. 4th, 2011 03:56 pmFor anyone who's interested, I totally did do that research on the company I have an interview with last night. And even found out some quite useful stuff. So go me.
As for what I'm doing today, well, so far it definitely hasn't included dancing round and round to Always by Erasure. For sure.
Something I have been doing though is watching a bit of snooker. Has it always been blue? Have I just not noticed or not seen a match set in York before? I hate it.
Also, I watched Strictly for once last night. Which was lucky for me, because much as I kind of hate all the theme weeks they and X Factor and stuff have nowadays, I do quite like film night. I love Chelsee the most, even if I find it a bit weird the way she talks. Mostly I hope that for once one of the people at the bottom of the leaderboard go this week, because it really does seem like it should be Robbie or Alex. Also, Chelsee's dress was amazing. And yet Tumblr seems to be weirdly full of Harry. Whatever.

May. 3rd, 2011 12:55 pmSome things:
- John Higgins won the snooker. Hurray!
- Despite watching the snooker and my best attempts at procrastination, I managed to get my Disability Allowance claim form completed and sent it off this morning. Hurray!
- Also, perhaps the best dating site profile ever: this guy will definitely not murder you.

May. 2nd, 2011 12:36 amThe only things I have to say at the moment seem to be about TV I have and haven't been watching. I haven't been watching much of the snooker. I don't think I really have the patience and/or stamina to watch an entire snooker match, or even session sometimes. I'm trying to build myself up, but I'm not there yet I think. Also, I didn't watch the Royal Wedding. I was thinking about it, but I got up on Wednesday to watch the snooker, and I got up on Thursday to go to my course in Wakefield, and I knew I'd be getting up on Saturday to listen to Adam and Joe, and I was really tired, so I decided to just sleep instead. I did see the dress later on though. I quite liked it, although I don't think it was very exciting. If it was me, I'd probably have had a massive train, made of gold. And possibly some chainmail. It's possibly for the good of the country that I wasn't either marrying Prince William or designing that wedding dress.
The TV I have been watching: On Thursday, Long Lost Families. Is anyone else watching this? It's a sort of reality programme about Davina McCall and Nicky someone reuniting long lost relatives, usually people who have been split up through adoption and have been searching for people for years with no luck. So it's a fairly emotional/manipulative set-up to begin with, but on Thursday I was properly bawling my eyes out. The first week was pretty sad, but this week we were following two people, and one of them was a man searching for his real father who he never knew. The man's mum and his dad had been teenagers when he was conceived, and they hadn't got married or anything. And the man didn't know why his dad hadn't stuck around and helped raise him or be part of his life, and the dad's family had a bad reputation, and the man's family had always told him his father was a bad man. But when they found his dad - who was currently working as a carer for people with autism - he'd said that basically when the man's mum had gotten pregnant, her mum came round to the house and shouted at him about it, and then told him to stay away from her daughter, and stay away from the family, and everyone he knew had told him to just forget about it and pretend he never had a son. The only time he ever saw his son was just before he was six months old, when he saw his ex-girlfriend pushing him up the high street in a pushchair, for two minutes. And then he'd left town, and never wanted to find his son because he'd never been a dad to him, so he didn't think he had any right to try to be part of his life. It was so sad.
And the other person was a woman who'd given her son up for adoption to try to save her marriage. She'd been married, also as a teenager, and had a young son by a man, and then she and her husband split up, and not long after they split up she had an affair with a black guy. A few weeks after that she found out she was pregnant, and when she told the black guy he didn't want to know. Not long after that, she ended up giving her marriage another go, and there was a chance the baby was her husband's, and she really hoped it was, because they'd already talked about having the baby put up for adoption if it wasn't his. But then she gave birth, and the doctor told her the baby was mixed race, so obviously not. And she begged her husband to just try taking the baby home and raising him like he was his, and they tried for three months, but eventually the husband just said he couldn't do it. So she gave the baby up for adoption, but she'd talked to the couple who were adopting him so they knew she didn't want to, and she gave them a letter to give to her son saying she'd always want to be part of his life, and she'd be there for him if he wanted her to be. But he hadn't gotten in touch in 30 years, so she just wanted to find him to make sure he was well, and had had a good life, and to ask him not to hate her. They found the son, and it turned out he was really well, and he'd been looking for her since he was 14 or 15. It's just REALLY HARD to find people, sometimes. So that didn't help with the not crying thing. It is quite a manipulative show in some ways, they have this thing where the people give the producers of the show letters to give to each other before they meet, and they end up reading them out on camera, as though that's a THING THEY WOULD TOTALLY DO, and they wouldn't want to READ THEM PRIVATELY OR ANYTHING. But it is quite lovely a lot of the time as well, if you like quite tear-jerking stuff.
ALSO, I watched So You Think You Can Dance again this week. It's really weird this year, I think, because in almost all the couples the girls seem to be better than the boys. Or better at performing, as well as dancing, at least. Apart from Matt, and possibly Luke this week, I can't think of one boy who stands out when they dance with their female partners. And I know they want to keep their boy/girl couples, but it just seems really sad that they'll be getting rid of a girl every week, when they could get rid of two not-great boys. Although it's weird as well, because people are getting used to their partnerships now and starting to get on well together, so it's a little sad to see couples split up as well. I'm really glad that ( Spoiler ). The dances are often really good though - a bit odd sometimes, but usually good -it's just that they are often one-person shows at the minute. Which is quite sad.
And that's it sort of. Except that I watched Vera tonight. I quite liked it, I liked Brenda Blethyn and Vera, and I like her DI and her relationship with him. And yay, Gina McKee! But some of it seemed a bit farfetched, or unexplained. Which is a bit of a shame. Hopefully it will improve a bit next week.
In non-TV news, I got a letter from Yvette Cooper, because I sent her an email from 36 Degrees about the NHS. She and other labour ministers are against changes to the NHS, for the record. And I love Dawn. And I love Charlotte. And I love Priti (ETA: I have now fixed this link so it's the right one). And I hate the people in the comments who hate Priti. FUCK THEM. FUCK THEM ENTIRELY.
Oh, also, I have been playing Folklore again, and I have pretty much finished four realms with Keats, so I have only one more to go before I can hopefully move on with Ellen again, yay! I got stuck again, at the same point I pretty much got stuck with Ellen I think, so I did the same thing as I did with Ellen, went back to the realms I'd already finished and tried to make my creatures stronger. And then I managed to finish realm 4, and nearly chapter 4. Keats still annoys me a bit, but less so now, and even less so if the story goes the way I think it will. Rah.
So. Tomorrow I'm planning on playing more Folklore, watching at least some of the World Championship snooker final, and also trying to fill in my Incapacity claim questionnaire that needs to be back in to the people who sent it to me by May 6th. Possibly forgoing either the snooker or the Folklore to try to get that questionnaire finished. Chances are.

Apr. 27th, 2011 06:26 pmI bring you a post of good tidings.
- Last week I made a post about a pairing from the adaptation of Agatha Christie's The Pale Horse, and said in the post and told
doyle_sb4 that the episode wasn't available on DVD yet, and wasn't looking to be any time in the near future. However, it turns out I was wrong, and searching for it again reveals that that series is being released on June 20th. Hurrah.
- Snooker is going well, or at least FINE.
- I managed to get my sick note from Saturday posted off, with a little explanation of why there was a gap in my sick notes for the benefits office. So hopefully that will be alright, or at the very least I've done it now.
- I may have been a bit wrong about how annoying I thought it would be to play Keats in Folklore. He hasn't done anything as annoying as the thing I really didn't like before then, and you do get a lot of different information by playing as him, and there are a lot of different creatures and quests he gets that Ellen doesn't. And he does have quite a lovely accent in the cutscenes. So it's not too bad I guess.
- And I've found some ice-skating now. Hurrah.

Dec. 12th, 2010 06:23 pm- I hope Matt Baker goes through to the final in tonight's Strictly results. I hope so greatly.
- I watched about half of the first session of the Higgins/Williams match today on the snooker, then I gave my dad the remote and he found a rather beautiful film about Robert Mitchum being a marine on an island with a nun. TV has been quite good today. Hopefully it will continue with the Strictly results. I can't believe Scott. And I'm kind of much less fond of Natalie, since she's started going all weird and emotional all the time. And talking about how Scott is the best partner she's ever danced with, when Ricky Whittle got her to the final last year. Whatever, Natalie.
- I'm spending a lot of my time nowadays still going on Digital Spy most days, in the vague hope that they will, for some reason, mention Lyndon Ogbourne and Nathan Wylde, in a positive way, through some chance. I am a sad picture of fannishness just at the moment.
- Coronation Street happened this week, the tram week happened, and the live episode happened, and it was all kind of amazing. A part of me thinks they put too many storylines into the one night/week, and it was all just a massive coincidence - on the same night, there was Peter's stag party, Molly leaving Tyrone, Becky's sister coming back to take Max briefly and demand more money, John killing Charlotte, a gas explosion that then caused a tram crash, and an accident on a nearby motorway that meant they couldn't get as many ambulances and fire engines to the disaster as they would normally be able to. And the accident somehow knocked a lot of the mobile phones out. But it is the anniversary week I suppose. But it was great, especially the live episode, and David, oh God David. After having Nick not involved at all in David's recent charged-with-attempted-murder/epilepsy storyline because he was involved in the affair-with-Leanne storyline, when Nick was trapped in the Joinery David ran up and joined the dangerous attempt to clear the rubble to try to get him and the others out, and when Nick was brought out he ducked under a police cordon and raced across the cobbles to him. I just love how even though David is often properly awful, and does genuinely awful things, sometimes they have him just be really, genuinely lovely. OH AND THEN HE HUGGED NICK IN THE HOSPITAL. It was beautiful.
A lot of it was sad though, and we're meant to be expecting another death - I don't think that's a spoiler since ITV have been using the tagline 'Four Funerals and A Wedding' all week, and I don't even know for sure. However, it's become unfortunately comedic since I realised that apart from one, all the people who seem like they might die next week all rhyme - I think it's either Keiran, or Rita, Peter, or Sunita. Hmm. Although it may be none of those four - some people are wondering if they might find someone when they clear the rubble, or if the man trapped in the car that the fire officers mentioned last week might turn out to be someone from the street. We'll just have to wait and see. - Also I watched The Event. ( Read more... )
- And I went to see two films. I saw the Warrior's Way, which is mostly like a cross between a martial arts film and the Lemony Snicket film, with the effects from Ninja Assassin. And, mysteriously, bills the Asian lead below all the three of the other white main cast members, including the villain who isn't really in it for that long. Okay. And I saw the new Narnia film. Oh Edmund. Oh. Mostly I liked the inclusion of ( Spoiler, although not if you've seen the tv adverts I'd guess ) and the fairly strong 'Let's go look for clues. And make out' vibes between Edmund and Caspian. But it was also a very good film overall, I think. Which was nice.

Sep. 25th, 2010 12:38 amHello. Livejournal is a little tricky lately, between my going to college and looking after my nephews one and a half days of the week, as well as trying to do anything else, as well as my basic lack of energy to do anything and my general doubt about being able to express anything I want to say. But. Every now and then I get some time.
Things:
So yes. Dental work, political thoughts (sort of), and soap news. That's basically the update you were expecting from me, wasn't it? IT'S THE ONE YOU GOT, ANYWAY.
Things:
- I am on my period. Which is kind of a relief, because I can't remember when I had my last one. I either forgot or decided not to keep a note of it in my diary for whatever reason, but it was definitely before Devon. However, at the moment my womb is mostly reminding me why I don't really like to have periods all the time. Ouch.
- I had sort of my first dental work ever on Wednesday. Apart from the braces I had for a few months when I was in highschool. I hadn't had a dentist appointment in about two and a half years, and with my anxiety and OCD-ishness I had spent quite a bit of that time skipping brushing my teeth as often as I should (yes, I know), so I was kind of expecting the news to be bad when I got my first appointment with a new dentist here in my hometown. And it wasn't good. The dentist used the word 'destruction' a lot. And made me an appointment for some work, and it said on the form they gave me that that would be four fillings. I was kind of dreading it because I've never had a filling before, but when I got there on the day, he said he wouldn't be doing any drilling - what he meant was putting some filler on/in my affected teeth to stop them being worn away anymore and keep them from being as sensitive. Which was much better. It was all done in about an hour, and he even said to the dental nurse(?) while I was there - in between saying 'you see what acid can do to teeth? Look!' - that it was all acid damage, and I had good dental hygiene, and there was no decay. So score. I've had the stuff in for a few days now, and it makes my mouth feel a bit weird and like I can't clench my teeth properly, and have the back ones connect completely. But I can eat properly and it doesn't hurt and it's not as bad as it could have been. So hurrah!
- Fiver are showing old episodes of Two Guys And A Girl on afternoons, the last couple of seasons where Ashley was in them, but they are showing the same ones on repeat for a week at a time AND TAKING FOREVER to get to the ones where Pete and Ashley start to get closer then get together, OH MY GOD. Pete/Ashley was one of my big het ships when I was young, and I think one of the first that I shipped and then they actually got together onscreen. ALSO PETE/ASHLEY WAS AMAZING. I WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN. FIVER!
- I also saw some snooker today. I got up late, came downstairs and switched the TV on, and there was a Stephen Hendry/Ronnie O'Sullivan match, at (0) 0 - 0 (0). It seemed difficult to pass up. Mostly I was impressed with Stephen Hendry's eyes (AND HIS SNOOKER SKILLS, OF COURSE HIS SNOOKER SKILLS, DUDES), and the fact that Ronnie looked incredibly happy every time he missed anything. As if inside he was going 'I might LOSE to STEPHEN HENDRY!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D'. ( Spoilers for the result )
- I also saw that Labour Leadership Question Time the other week where Ed Milliband publically declared his love for David Milliband, and then the rest of the panel fought over who he really meant. And when David Dimbleby had to plead with Diane Abbot to 'give him a chance', about someone else she wasn't impressed with. Mostly I decided they all seemed a bit more level-headed and serious than various papers and news articles would have me believe, and that I sort of liked all of them except David Milliband, who seemed incapable of answering a question he'd actually been asked, but especially Diane Abbot and the man with the red tie. But I also decided they were politicians doing very public political debates while vying for a position of leadership, so it was probably best to not trust what they were saying too much. With regards to my favourite I am a bit 'whatever', but it seems like it might be a bit of a mistake to have David Milliband leading them.
- Also,
hestia8 WROTE ME EMMERDALE FIC! NATHAN/DECLAN EMMERDALE FIC! NATHAN/DECLAN EMMERDALE FIC EXISTS BECAUSE OF
hestia8! Almost every day since then the internet has been a LITTLE BIT DISAPPOINTING.
- Also I saw The Other Guys. OH MY GOD I LOVE THE OTHER GUYS. I LOVE TERRY HOITZ. AND ALLEN GAMBLE. AND OH. It is by no means a brilliant film, and I am aware that I have slightly more of a fondness for Will Ferrell films than many people I know. BUT OH MY GOD. It is one of the few films this year that I have loved enough to want to spontaneously go see again, rather than going mostly to check something I didn't catch the first time. By which I mean, I saw it last Saturday, and then on Monday I saw it again. Although in fairness, ( A vague spoiler I wanted to check, and then other spoilers ) I LOVE TERRY HOITZ. AND MARK WAHLBERG. AND THE OTHER GUYS.
- Connotations is VERY SOON, dudes! Sadly not soon enough that I have nothing else to do before then - unfortunately I have another Jobcentre appointment the Wednesday before, which do tend to be pretty undemanding, but which I often stress about anyway. But still, VERY SOON. I have a plan - my plan is to have watched at least the end of Season 3 of The Office, since I started watching it and I OWN IT, and all of Trinity, SINCE I OWN IT, before I go. We'll see how that goes. I guess.
- ( Soaps - Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Hollyoaks )
So yes. Dental work, political thoughts (sort of), and soap news. That's basically the update you were expecting from me, wasn't it? IT'S THE ONE YOU GOT, ANYWAY.

Oct. 12th, 2009 09:03 pmI went to my parents' for the weekend. I don't think I mentioned that. Anyway, I'm back now.
I don't really drink, but I'd like to say that I've never been more tempted to buy wine than when I was getting a TV mag at my local shop, and spotted Red Dragon wine, and then Pink Dragon wine. NEVER MORE TEMPTED EVER.
Anyway, I have a few things to say. Mostly about TV and other things I watched. And here they are:
And now to catch up on Adam and Joe and a few other things. And then probably bed.
- Jimmy kissed Carl in Emmerdale last week. He and his fiancee and baby were out having a drive in the car, and they got run off the road by someone who said their brake fluid was leaking. Jimmy's fiancee blamed Carl because he'd bought the car, but it was actually the person who ran them off the road, Carl's girlfriend's son, who had unscrewed the brake cable in the first place, because he and Carl don't get on and had argued. Anyway, Carl knew and told his girlfriend, but Jimmy didn't, and on Friday (the day after the accident) Jimmy came downstairs while Carl and his girlfriend were talking and Carl apologised again. Jimmy said it was okay, because no-one was hurt, and it had made him realise what was really important. Carl's girlfriend said "Life?", and Jimmy said "No. Family", and then he leaned over and kissed Carl on the cheek. Carl smiled and was like "Okay then". It was very good. I love Emmerdale.
- I watched some snooker over the weekend. Unfortunately I always had somewhere to go or something to do when a match was starting, but I saw a bit of the Robertson and Higgins match. I love John Higgins. And I don't really like Robertson, something about his hair and eyebrows and eyes makes him look a bit not-human, but he is a very good snooker player, and I sort of have to respect him because I think if I was playing John Higgins, I would just constantly miss shots just so he could get up and I could watch him play. So well done him, really.
- I went to see Up with my mum and my oldest nephew on Saturday. It is great, I very much enjoyed it, and I'm pretty sure he did too. My favourite character was almost certainly Doug. And I really loved the short before the film too.
- In Casualty, Ruth is having angst because she accidentally got pregnant and then took an abortion pill without telling her boyfriend because she didn't want to ruin her surgical career when it was just starting, and Jordan is recovering from an operation on his brain, trying to cope on his own, and sort of thinking that his life isn't worth living. Now is the PERFECT time to bring Toby back, as a recurring character maybe. CAN YOU HEAR ME, CASUALTY PRODUCERS? PERFECT. They probably won't though. I hate them a bit.
- Over the weekend, I also watched the Malcolm in the Middle episode where Francis and Spangler have a long talk in Spangler's office about his early life and his mother. Oh I love Francis and Spangler. I had partially forgotten how much.
- I also managed to see most of the Futurama feature film Bender's Game. It wasn't laugh-out-loud funny a lot of the time, but I'm almost tempted to get it at some point just for the sake of Hermaphrodite, the loveliest of the Centaurs. I also saw part of The Wild Green Yonder, and I am intrigued enough to want to watch more. I think maybe the feature films, even work better split into half hour long episodes.
- Thanks to my parents having recorded it, I saw the first episode of Emma, having missed it last week, and then the second episode last night. I'm actually quite enjoying it. I love Johnny Lee Miller, I know that he is a bit rubbish sometimes, but I love him. And then there was someone else in it that I thought I recognised, but I think I was mixing him up with someone else, and then someone else came along who looked familiar, and it turned out to be Rupert Evans, or John Myers from Hellboy. Which was quite nice.
- Then last night I was mooching about late at night looking for something to watch, and lo and behold, I found Blackadder's Most Cunning Moments. With Tim McInnerny! And Percy scenes! And Darling scenes! And I love Percy and Tim McInnerny and Darling, as some people may be aware, so that was quite nice to just find on the TV. Yay.
And now to catch up on Adam and Joe and a few other things. And then probably bed.
