I was watching Coronation Street at the weekend, and suddenly started seeing possible Sarah/David incest. Which was unexpected.

Theory and spec about Heroes season 2, spoilers up to 2.07 )

God, people really do make some awesome vids. Rama Lama Bang Bang by counteragent. Angel/Dr Who. Lilah and Yvonne: two hardworking, professional zombies with lots of spunk and heart. Might need to get that song somewhere.

In other news, I have work for tomorrow. I have to be there at 8:30, but hey - work! Hopefully which will last, or be replaced by other work. So I can get a slightly better handle on my cash. The only unfortunate part is that I haven't done any of the cleaning I said I was going to do with my few days off. But I did spend most of today curled into a ball trying to ward off stomach cramps. Anyway. There's always the weekend. I need to fix the light in the bathroom as well. But work! Now I just need to find out where it is.

I called in sick today for period pains. God appears to be making it worth my while.

Some ranting and some squeeing. Over Emmerdale )

I thought maybe, after trying to write Emmerdale fic, I just didn't get the characters well enough, and mostly just liked watching them flail dysfunctionally - and that I couldn't write Emmerdale fic very well because I just tend to SAY STUFF, and tell not show. But then today I wrote about 700 words I really quite like for them. So I've decided writing is just a bit hard. Especially in fandoms no-one else really knows about. Where you get new canon pretty much every day.

While I was upset last night, I did manage to find this pic from Matt and Carl's big gay break-up though:

Which is surely compensation for something :)

Today I finished the first Lucifer book, which is brilliant. I enjoyed it way more than the first Sandman book, and am into the series in a way I'm just not with Sandman. Yet. Though I think I should probably keep reading those at least until Lucifer actually gets to the part where he has a spin-off. He is icy and blond and amoral, and just knows everything about everything. And he's mostly just sticking to his version of the "truth" about the world, which is fair enough if a little harsh on human beings. So yay, I love him. And I love Mazikeen a bit too, even if I can barely understand her. She dashes up with fire extinguishers, and always carries an edged weapon. She is great.

And I caught the S5 episode of Angel where Lindsey comes back as tattooed whore mage, and they have that swordfight where he takes his shirt off for just no reason. It is amazing. I should try to track down some Angel DVDs at some point.

At the moment my nephew's here again. He's progressed from calling me 'ruh-ruh' to 'rah-rah', and I'm very, very pleased. Tomorrow I have to go pick up a recorded delivery from the post office that's possibly my new phone, and I really should get back to Connotations about modding that panel. Which I, um, haven't. I think I probably will now. Apparently my modding skills aren't THAT bad, and I've sort of started planning handouts. So, yay!

Also: TWO WEEKS, omg.

Hurray, I start volunteer work at the museum on Wednesday! It is not paid, but it is interesting, omg! The manager gave me a tour. I had no idea it was so big. There is a reference room, and a glass collection which apparently sets of Geiger counters because they use uranium to colour the glass. The manager kept trying to put me off, I think, because he couldn't believe I would actually be interested in everything - I was definitely the youngest and prettiest! there - but I just kept being all 'old photographs, omg!', 'maritime research, omg!', 'boxes, omg!'. It is very good. I am looking forward to it. And because it is volunteerish I have no deadline and can spend all my time looking at the things, and can go in whatever time I want! I am quite pleased. I would like money. But I am pleased :)

I bought The Fabulous Girls Guide to Decorum at a charity shop, for £2. Not because I am fabulous. Or want to be decorous. But it would be nice to be able to know how, if I need to. Mostly I am thinking it will be research for books, featuring girl detectives who can't really just get bored and leave parties and such when there are mysteries afoot, omg!

And in other news, I watched four episodes of Angel. I am so tired nowadays mostly I think I will die. Anyway.Thoughts )

Weather is crappy, so we did not have a family picnic in the park as was semi-planned. Mourn.

We had one in the kitchen instead. Which essentially meant lots of plates of everything everywhere and people tripping over each other attempting to get to these plates and minor knife skirmishes, but it was tasty mm, and fun. Many people are here. Katie and dad and mum and Jack and Jack's father and grandma. And the dog. Close quarters. I escape to my room whenever possible.

Am taking a break at the moment from Harry Potter, because I cannot read entire books in one go, and I cannot understand people who do. Perhaps if it is a short story and there is a chance of finishing it, but big books? No. Especially not children's books. The words just blur together! And the characters go all two-dimensional and things keep happening but I forget to care. I need time between chapters - not a lot, but some, to process and think and consider and give it all layers, you know? Anywho. I would watch episodes of Angel, but for some reason right now I can only do that after dark. Perhaps I am channelling Angel. I don't know. Also I am slightly worried because I am approaching the episodes with Lindsey now, and there aren't that many, and as soon as I do they will be over! And I won't really be able to rewatch them again and again because I should probably get out of the house into that sunlight thing before I sort of shrivel. This was a lot easier when the sun was actually shining and outside was pretty. Hmph.

Harry Potter thoughts )

New icon just because.
girlofprey: (Draco)
Been reading Harry Potter and the Blood Prince. About a third of the way through, and liking it really. The style is a bit Enid Blyton-ish and off-putting, and I don't always know what's going on, but I like the setting and I like the characters. So much I can happily see het or slash any number of pairings. Perhaps I am betraying my slash-roots, but it's probably just the sign of a good book.

Some spoilery - and some spoiled - brief thoughts )

I'm going to have to read the rest of the series now. Dammit.

Things I need:

  • An icon of Wesley looking particularly slinky and researchery with 'Big Dog' on the bottom.

  • An icon of Angel proclaiming him as 'Angel the Soulinator', with '(check out all his majesty...)' on the bottom (I love you Trogdor!)

  • And, having watched I've Got You Under My Skin, an icon of Samara/Sadako/The Ring with 'Circle, angry, kill, kill, kill, we get it already!' randomly spread about :D

Is it true that Photoshop software costs about $500? Jesus, if so.

Watched more Angel. I'm not even pretending to be doing anything else with my time nowadays. Although I am hopefully starting volunteer work at the local museum on Monday...which is good.

The American Gothic DVDs are coming out! Hopefully! Hopefully soon! Hopefully on Region 2 aswell!

::is beginning to see that the DVDs getting released was only half the battle. Oh dear::

Anyway. Haven't read any more of Harry Potter. Haven't got a job :( But I have watched the first two episodes ever of Angel! And it's really fun because I didn't really watch it the first time around, so I really don't know what's going to happen. Yay!

Some things:

  • Angel really is quite adorable. Goddamnit.

  • They all are. Goddamnit.

  • Eeee, Lindsey is so pretty! Though his hair is clearly too short. And he is too evil. Soon conflict will come. And obsession with Angel

  • I am trying to decide when is the best (i.e. worst) time in his career for him to become pregnant with Angel's child. Hmm

  • I sort of want to go to the bar in Lonely Hearts. Not because I want to meet anybody. Just because...pretty colours...

  • I love this bit of conversation:

Doyle: "You need to come out!"
    Angel: "Why?"
Doyle: "Because we deserve one night of fun!"

The wrong way to take things is the best way to take things, hurrah!

Thanks to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] jekesta and the lovely Yousendit, I can upload music files, yay! Hence, I present you with Crazy, clearly the theme tune of Angel/Lindsey angst.

Also, here is Baker, Baker, also by Tori Amos, which is equally clearly the theme tune of Rose/Mickey. If such a ship even exists. Bonus points for anyone who can quote all the lines to me which prove my crazy theory to be true.

I love Tori Amos.

I will close by saying that looking after a baby is just the most stressful thing in the world - ever. And I don't just mean the constant feeding, cleaning, changing, checking on and entertaining. I mean the fact that you worry that everything you do - and everything that happens - will somehow damage him. You kissed baby on the nose? You've given him a disease of some horrible kind. Baby bumped his head? That's brain damage. Baby got cold? That's pneumonia!!

Not that I would give any of it up for the world, of course ::is kind of scarily helpless in love for him ah well::
