My bedroom is still not tidy. BUT, I have organised the big massive pile into SMALLER, SEPARATE PILES. And might be able to start putting some of the things in it up any day now, tomorrow maybe. Also, I thought I might have lost something else, a set of pairs of earrings I just in the last few weeks bought from Claire's Accessories. But then I figured out where they might have ended up falling into, checked it, and found them. Hurrah! The Chesnut Soldier and the 6 or so books of Fables, I still haven't managed to find.

Other things I have been doing:

  1. I went to see Eclipse, film 3 of the Twilight Saga. Possible spoilers )

  2. I caught up on Teen Girl Squad. I LOVE TEEN GIRL SQUAD. I LOVE THEM A WHOLE LOT.

On QI tonight they were talking about a "Vampire Squid from Hell" (Vampyroteuthis infernalis) which lives at such a depth in the sea that instead of defending itself by squirting out ink, it squirts out a small cloud of bioluminescent orbs/mucus, and defends itself 'by dazzling'. And suddenly I knew where Stephanie Meyer got her inspiration for the vampires in Twilight.

On the other hand, Stephen Fry was really pleased because he talked about a weird, little-known fact about a Buddhist cult, and everyone thinks that Buddhism is quite a sane religion, but it just proved they too were 'weird'. And fine, religion being weird, always a nice topic. But of all of them, Buddhists actually have quite a nice outlook on life and set of beliefs. So fuck off, Stephen.

On the other other hand, the guests tonight included Jack Dee and Sue Perkins, which was lovely. I had to put up with Jimmy Carr, but whatever. It's odd, I don't even really like Jack Dee's stand-up or comedy 'persona', but I still really like him, mostly based on his time on Celebrity Big Brother quite a few years ago, when he baked bread and shouted to his wife and kids that he loved them from the open doorway of the house during another person's eviction. If Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother gave me nothing else, they gave me that series.

Also on tonight was Casualty, and I hate Casualty. I can't believe they keep mentioning and having on the show the counsellor that Toby went off with. THEY SAID HE WOULD NEVER WORK THERE AGAIN. THEY SAID IT. And I know they have a slightly odd policy with the staff being able to leave and come back again, what with Nick Jordan being able to come and go as he pleases, but honestly. And it makes me think that Toby might be coming back, because it doesn't seem to make any sense to have him around unless Toby is eventually coming back, or sometimes coming back - although I realised tonight that it probably makes sense because the actor who plays the counsellor is either seeing or married to the actress who plays Ruth. But still. THEY SAID HE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO WORK THERE AGAIN. And it makes NO SENSE that he would still be around and able to tell Toby that yeah, one of the doctors he used to work with has lost his baby and his wife left him, and Ruth can't be a surgeon now and her life's in a mess, and that Toby wouldn't RUN IN, and be all "Dudes, dudes, dudes! You have FALLEN APART without me!", and hug them and comfort them and make them some tea. NO SENSE AT ALL.

I am forced to assume that Toby has left the counsellor man, and gone on ahead to the seaside town where Ruth will eventually run away to when her life becomes even more unbearable, and they will end up fighting crime. And to which Dr Jordan will follow them, and take his mentee Lenny Lyons with him because who else is available to mentor Lenny is his absence, in an attempt to bring Ruth at least back, and they will all end up fighting crime together. THEY WILL BE DOCTECTIVES. IT WILL BE GREAT.

And that is the TV I have watched tonight. I must now move on to tidying up my flat and boxing up some of my things for my dad to take back to Yorkshire tomorrow. Sigh.

True Blood 1.09 )

Things I have been singing tonight: 1) "It's vampire night" to the tune of "Ladies Night", after realising I was going to see New Moon on the same night new True Blood would be on, and 2) "Mr Wolf Pants", after a rather cunning plot device used for the werewolves in New Moon. You should go see New Moon, dudes. GO SEE THEIR AMAZING WOLF PANTS.

I have a confession to make. I've not read Twilight the book, aside from the dramatic reading [livejournal.com profile] katemonkey did at Connotations this year, and the time years ago when I saw it on the shelf at Waterstones, liked the cover so had a flick through, read some and thought, "oh, this is the worst book in the world". But I think I quite like the movie. I know that Edward and Bella are quite mad. But I sort of like the storyline. I like that it is emo and weird. I like a bunch of the Cullens. I like that Edward sparkles. And New Moon was, actually, sort of good. I mean, not brilliant, but quite good. Taylor Lautner (who plays Jake) can really act, and I really liked Bella this time around. In Twilight I liked Edward more, possibly due to seeing Robert Pattinson doing a bunch of interviews for the movie and being great. This time I liked Bella more, possibly due to having seen her in Adventureland, and her being basically the best thing in it, which really suprised me. And Michael Sheen was in it! Which was a bit great. I don't know how it compares to the book, and I'm not exactly getting fannish about it, but yeah. I quite like it.

In other news, a note to myself: staying up all night may be incredibly useful in not sleeping through appointments, but it still unlikely to be a pleasant experience. I'm going to bed soon.

In other news, a new Tony Gordon video! It's in the first post at the top of the page. It's pretty much all just stills, but it's still pretty great. I think I could have been in love by now if it wasn't for Tony.

And, annoyingly, as well as Gray O'Brien and Chris Fountain in Aladdin in Manchester, it turns out Roxanne Pallett, of Emmerdale and Dancing on Ice 2009, is in a pantomime in Newcastle as Cinderella. Though they are giving away free tickets for one of the shows to victims of the recent floods in Cumbria, which is quite lovely. Still. NONE OF THEM ARE PERFORMING ANYWHERE NEAR ME. Though it would probably only be a temptation to spend money on them. Oh well ::grumble::

Emmerdale )

I had a plan for this week. It was not to have a shower on Sunday, because it was far too cold in my flat, and when I woke up late on Monday it was to not go out and pay my rent and my water bill till the next day, and to stay in and have a shower and tidy up instead. So far I haven't done much of that. Although I have had a shower and the rent is paid, and I did a bit of tidying because the building underneath me had a leak through their ceiling and my landlords wanted to send the plumber round. It totally wasn’t me though. Hah.

What I have been doing is:

  • Through Youtube investigations, confirmed my suspicion that the first/2006 Big Fat Quiz of the Year is the only one worth bothering with. Although the second one does have David Mitchell. The first one has the origin of "congratuwell done". That's almost perfection in itself.

  • Reading brilliant Twilight parodies!

  • Watching brilliant Robert Pattison Twilight interviews! (It takes a while to load, and isn't particularly brilliant till about 3 minutes in, but then it is QUITE brilliant). It almost as good as having read the books.

  • Listening to my Woman and Woman Vol. 2 CDs I used to have and ripped to my computer. Walk On By! Love...Thy Will Be Done! I Don't Wanna Lose You! Why don't I have Cyndi Lauper albums? It's genius.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to pay my water bill again. And try to get them to pay me some Jobseeker's Allowance, still. And go to my agency and see if they have any work going. Because I sort of need a job at the moment. Soon-ish, really.

Hello. I've not been around much this week. That's mostly because on Monday I had to go Christmas shopping straight from work, on Tuesday I worked from 9 till 6.30, on Wednesday I worked from 8 till 10 (pm), and yesterday I went in to work at 9 and we said we'd stay until it was finished, which ended up being till about 6.30. But my job is finished now, because we did all the work so the quality checkers could do their last bits today.

So I have the day off. All I need to do is go see Jobseekers about my benefits claim and what information they actually want from me, go see my landlords about a repair I've been asking about, do a bit of Christmas shopping while I'm still in Nottingham, pay my electricity bill that just came yesterday, send off my Redemption cheque while I've got all the references with me, start my Christmas cards before the last post tomorrow, pack a bag and get a train to my parents'.

And I had thought about going to see Twilight before going back to my parents', because I don't think they'll be interested in going to see it with me.

Yep.

I'm not sure I made my position on Twilight clear the other day. I have absolutely no expectation that it will be any good. All I feel I might have been missing out on is THE CRACK. I'm interested in going to see the movie mostly just to see just how bad it's going to be. Although by most accounts, it's meant to be slightly better than the books. Or at least makes a bit more sense. Anyway. There. Just in case my reputation has been dragged through the gutter at all.

The dancing is going to be on soon. I'm pretty sure Jodie Kidd isn't going to put on silver and do a jive for me. Almost entirely sure. Hmph.

Hello! My posting has been a bit sporadic lately. I started my new job, and seem to have no time in the evenings anymore.

So yes, I started my new job. I am working at a company just down the road, checking data as it is purchased from the electoral roll and uploaded to the computers. Mostly it is a bit boring, but we've all picked up the commands and rules pretty quickly (well, most of them). And it's only for a few weeks. And we get to listen to music through the day. So it's all fine. We're getting quality checked on our practice checking now, so it may turn out we're DOING IT COMPLETELY WRONG, or SOME OF US ARE, but so far it all seems to be going alright. Which is nice. I'm going to get paid on Friday. Which is also nice

Mostly I am confused by the fact the internet isn't AWASH WITH REACTIONS TO CASUALTY since Spoiler for last Saturday's episode ). The whole internet. Slash fans unite? Also bewildered and dismayed that BBC are probably not going to bring out a dvd of this series and the last series of Casualty, like tomorrow. I WOULD APPRECIATE THAT ALSO. Oh Toby. I love you so. Your mum should come back occasionally and wear a beautiful coat and look at you.

Tonight I got to watch Vince Vaughn and John Simm, all in one evening, which was quite win. Also Andrea Riseborough. Doing way more than she got to do in Being Human. She's quite great.

In other news, I didn't remember until about 10 o'clock last night that it was Heroes day, so I haven't actually watched it yet. And I haven't been reading the Twilight books. I saw them and thought "oh, usual vampire novel" - actually I thought "Oh, pretty cover!", but after that - and I read a little bit of them and wasn't impressed. But it seems a bit like I have been missing out. I'm fairly tempted to go see the movie. I was anyway, just to see what it's all about. But more so.

I have to go Christmas shopping, also. Pretty soon, really.
