I'm clearing out the last bit of my bedroom that really needs clearing, the cupboards above my bed. I found a few old boxes up there that contain some of my old documents from my uni years. It's so odd. My Nottingham University acceptance letter is in there. A bunch of cinema stubs from back when I collected those obsessively. And I had an ultrasound of my pelvis last week, and I just found the letter telling me to come for my first one, back in 2004. It's so odd. But happily, most of it can just be thrown away.

My hope is to get rid of a lot of stuff in there, and then move all my spare boxes (console stuff, pretty tins I enjoy) up there, and use any extra boxes to take the unwanted stuff to the charity shop. And then I'll have even more space, and much more efficient storage space. So far I'm just trying to work out how much Halloween/Christmas stuff to keep, and how many sets of fairy lights that don't currently get used one woman really needs. Oh, and burning my old scented candle just to use them up. Good times.

First of all, I would like to say a big hurrah for [livejournal.com profile] jekesta, for alerting me to the fact that all DVD software on laptops everywhere will make screencaps, and that I was an idiot. Hurray, screencaps!! Of all the beautiful people who I love and no-one else knows exist!! Icons are just around the corner, I can feel it. And, when I get my actual laptop connected to the Internet, probably picspam of people I love and no-one else knows exist. AND YOU WILL ALL HAVE TO LOOK AT IT HAHAHAHA!!!

Secondly, I would like to say that coming home from Nottingham was made immensely more pleasurable by the package of [livejournal.com profile] jekesta waiting for me on my desk. I expected DVDs - I got so much more! Lollies! Ritter Sport in inexplicable flavours! A sheep/pylon/tree OT3 postcard! A glove to call my own! It was like some kind of beautiful dream, and my sister read the postcard because she heard me giggling and now she wants to be Jekesta, and I do not blame her, for truly she is a bundle of loveliness, like her packages :D!

Thirdly, I am home from Nottingham. I did so much packing. I have so much stuff. I did so much cleaning. I cleaned an oven. I scrubbed bathroom tiles till they stopped being bright orange. I got stabbed with a staple taking recycling to the recycling place. But I am home, and desperately trying to fit my stuff into a tiny room full of all my old stuff. I do not think I will win at space. But I will have proper curtains that do not let light on my face at 7 o'clock in the morning. This is all for the good. Also I am feeling a bit better about my results. It turns out 2 of my flatmates got pretty much the same, and even the other who is a smartypants hugely interested in all things academic and poetic and whatnot and normally gets 70s, did not get a first. University is more difficult than it looks I assume. I understand most of the marks I got (I hate you, drama, you are not even proper English omg!), and girl flatmate who actually failed a few exams and essays and still got 63.9 and I talked about university, and essays, and why we even want Firsts, and I feel much better. Thank you flist for your kind comments also :*:*:*(to infinity).

Fourthly, I did not see Doctor Who on Saturday. My flatmate had already packed his TV. I am all bereft. LJ is making me feel berefter with its 'no clues but oh wasn't it fabulous?' ways. But I did go see the League of Gentlemen film! And loved it!

Some thoughts )

Home again home again ::dances a home dance - jiggety-jig?::

Boring RL statistics, and some angst )

Hmm. I feel a bit better now though. Happier things: Fables kicks arse. All should read it. Fairytale characters in modern New York. Cinderella fencing with Bluebeard and saying 'fuck' and 'turd sandwich'! Snow White as balls-cracking Deputy Mayor! The Big Bad Wolf as the sexy-as-all-get-out reformed sherriff who keeps wandering around shirtless! It is beautiful! I even liked the Snow White/'Bigby' Wolf shipping, until they spoiler )

Also, thoughts on the rewatched first two episodes of Black Books Series 3:

@ Dylan Moran/Bernard's hair remains magic, as proved by the fairy toadstools growing within
@ Bernard spends his time without Manny watching Manny 'bend down' and 'wiggle' - is he even trying to be subtle about it anymore?
@ Manny just wants to come hoooome, awwwww ::melts into a puddle of something::
@ Simon Pegg remains foxy, but is much less foxy being evil in pastels. Hmm. He enjoys putting out the cigarette a little too much, I think
@ Bernard would so totally have won the fight with Evan, had he not drunk quite so much bleach first.
@ Why does Bernard have Manny dressed up as giant penis to read to the children?
@ I want a hen night with cake and spin the bottle, and tell-all Fran, yes, even tell-all Fran!
@ Yay, lady from Green Wing! (Harriette?)
@ I sort of want to read the Stalinist purges book...
@ If I ever need to get a character in a fic painfully drunk, probably it will be on Life Cry ::is in awe of it::
@ Girls from Green Wing and the Office clearly just jealous of Tamsin's success on Black Books
@ Hurray for Bernard's 'subtly pregnant' Brazilian girlfriend! (although clearly he'd still be shagging Manny on the side)

Am still a bit depressed. Going home now to find my phone, so mum won't think I've thrown myself off a bridge in despair...

It's like the end of a horror movie, when the thoroughly killed bad guy gets back up for one last scare. Just got them, and had to discuss them with my very nice, but still 'strange' in the 'stranger' sense, personal tutor. moping about/rejoicing in my results )

Have to go into town now and attempt to buy myself some half-decent new clothes, and possibly get a new A string for my violin. What with cheques going in and out though, I'm not entirely sure how much money I have, which should make things quite interesting. Also have to write a review of Meet the Fockers before tomorrow morning, which I'm completely not in the headspace for yet. I don't even know what I'm going to say. It was funny, but not as good as the first one. I'll whack 400 words out somehow.

On the subject of Meet the Fockers, Greg/Jack continues to be OTP liek whoa, to borrow (steal) a phrase (strikethrough key, where are you?). For God's sake, Jack proposed to him in the first one! And watched him sleep. Pam is just so completely pointless, except as a way to bring them together. Hmm. Spoilers )

Blah. Got a long weekend of reading ahead of me. Gulliver's Travels, The Miller/Reeve's Tale, gender theory and a Midsummer Night's Dream, oh my. But first my greatest trick, shopping without money.
