Benefits stuff, irritating )

Anyway, maybe the people will call tomorrow and say it's all been a big misunderstanding, and I can have my payments after all. But I've called and made an appointment with my doctor anyway, just in case. Although that's annoying in itself, because this week I was supposed to have three appointments, an application forms workshop yesterday, a counselling session tomorrow, and an appointment with my employment coach on Friday. And it felt like a bit much after the meeting with my case manager last Friday and then going to Nottingham for Batman Live (I did that, by the way) on Saturday, so I was wishing for a bit less to do this week. But then yesterday my employment coach came and asked me if we could rearrange our Friday appointment for next Monday, because she had a client she suddenly needed to see on Friday. And my counsellor just called today to say she couldn't make our appointment tomorrow any more, could we make it next Wednesday. And when I called the doctors, the soonest I could get an appointment with the doctor who gave me my last sick note was Tuesday morning at 8:30, and no later in the day, or Wednesday at 9:40. So now next week I have an appointment on Monday, and a doctor's appointment at 9:40 am and then a counselling session at 2:00 on Wednesday. Sigh.

But anyway. At least I have the rest of the week free, even though I was sort of geared up for the appointment tomorrow. And I have slightly less on next week than I was supposed to this week. And if those guys call and say 'big misunderstanding' (who knows?), I can just cancel my doctor's appointment. Although I'm not exactly holding out too much hope for that.

But, some good things: I was at Aldi buying chocolate on Sunday, as is my custom, and I discovered they're now selling cherry and chili dark chocolate. Which is lovely, although it's still not a good idea to eat too much chili dark chocolate all at once. I did go to Batman Live, as I said, and it was quite good, although probably not brilliant enough for the amount I ended up paying to see it. Sort of spoilers )

Another weird thing, if not a good thing, is that for some reason I feel about three months ahead of myself at the moment. When I came back from Prague, in June, I really really felt like summer was over, and I was ready for like autumn and Halloween and stuff. And now the sky has gone a bit grey, and it's gotten a bit colder, I'm feeling suddenly ready for Christmas. I don't actually feel ready for Christmas, I'd definitely like to have Halloween and Bonfire Night first. But it sort of feels like that sort of atmosphere. I really like this time of year, at any rate though. The shops have started putting scarves and gloves out, and it recently occured to me it would soon be the weather to have soup regularly again, and start getting wrapped up before I go out. Hurrah :)

But in happier news, a while back I came up with and did a picspam on the Doug/Texas/Leanne OT3 I really wanted Hollyoaks to do. And I never really expected it to actually happen. But Texas and Leanne were looking for somewhere to live together for their second year of uni, and yesterday we had a scene of Doug throwing out his current roommate, and then Texas and Leanne walked down the stairs saying they'd had a look around, and were happy to move in straight away! Hollyoaks, you DO know how to make me happy. Hurrah.

I have decided to do a Hollyoaks picspam. I'm genuinely not trying to convert anyone to Hollyoaks, I'm just really enjoying it at the moment and I don't really know anywhere I can go and talk about it. And the events of the past few days are slightly too brilliant to go unremarked upon. And, if there's one thing you can rely on Hollyoaks for, it's generally to be quite pretty. So picspam it is, underneath the cut.

Managed to eat dinner (most of it) and wash my hair last night, and get SOME sleep (yay!), and go to my confidence course today. Which is probably for the best, since next week's is apparently the last one. But anyway, I did it, and I can now make the post I was planning to make at some point last night.

Last night's Coronation Street )

In other news, while I was trying to finish my dinner last night my parents put on the latest episode of the Apprentice, and I saw probably the only full episode I've ever seen. I think I picked a pretty good one to watch though. Spoilers for last night's The Apprentice ).

And in Hollyoaks, Leanne still loves Texas. I had hoped, wildly, that Hollyoaks might do something glorious, like have Leanne, Texas and Doug bond over having loved ones be killed by the maniac murdering girls in Hollyoaks just at the moment, or having been (supposedly) maybe attacked by him, and then TEAM UP to catch him. And in the end Leanne would catch him, partly by out-madding him, and then when he was caught she could own up to having never really been attacked in the first place, and being really sorry. And Texas and Doug would be disappointed in her, but by then she'd have caught the maniac (Silas) and sort of avenged their sister and girlfriend, so they would just love her anyway, and be an OT3 forever. But sadly tonight Texas and Leanne were still hanging out together, but Doug was off with his friends, and then an (unbeknownst to him) underage girl. So possibly not. :(

I'm back.

I asked my mum to get me some ice-cream when she went to the supermarket, for my throat, even though we weren't a hundred percent sure the fridge was fixed, and we'd had to defrost the freezer before the man came to fix the fridge, and even if they were both working they weren't back to normal yet, so I had nowhere to store it. I figured that would be fine, since I tend to eat the whole tub in one go, or in one day, at least, so we wouldn't need to store it. However, my mum came back with it at tea-time, with it already going soft and no way to store it until after tea-time. So I've just had to eat a whole tub of ice-cream now, in one go, and I will be having my tea whenever I don't feel too sick to eat it. But hopefully at some point before I go wash my hair tonight. My forward planning: Needs some work.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] cakesy recently introduced me to the joy and wonder that is Ripper, and the walkthrough by The Spoony Experiment, a game 'based' on the Jack the Ripper killings, but set in 2040, starring Wolf from The 10th Kingdom, and Christopher Walken. It's most of what I've been thinking about for the past couple of days. I decided I slashed Quinlan (Wolf) and Magnotta (Christopher Walken), have been spending some time fighting my way through acting which is not the finest and slightly all over the place characterisation to think of scenarios for them. Mostly they involve handcuffs. And police custody. Because I am unimaginitave.

It also made me think of one of my favourite games from my childhood, with fairly similar graphics, Escape From Horrorland. And sure enough, I found a walkthrough for it online. The walkthrough isn't the best, partly because the woman doesn't always remember what to do (which I do), so you have to watch her figure it out, and partly because apparently she can't really see the graphics very well on her computer, which makes doing the visual puzzles - interesting. But hands down the best part is when a vampire lady turns up, and the woman says "oh I love her, she's so pretty. She always reminds me of Isabella Rosselini, although obviously Isabella Rosselini is way to good to do this game." And then we get a close-up of the woman's face, and she's all "....What? Is that Isabella Rosselini? Is that actually Isabella Rosselini??!" BECAUSE IT IS TOTALLY ISABELLA ROSSELINI. ISABELLA ROSSELINI WAS ALL OVER ESCAPE FROM HORRORLAND. And then Jeff Goldblum turns up, and shit goes down. It's pretty special. The other best bits are obviously the bits with Madison Storm (swoon). But I'll stop boring you with tales of my adolescent crushes on evil scientists now.

Hmm. In other news, I don't even know what's going on with my money anymore. I've not been keeping that tight a hold on it, I've made trips to Lancaster and bought a number of Threadless t-shirts. Which is really Threadless' fault for repeatedly reprinting designs I used to like. But anyway. Every time I go to the bank machine and check my balance, I expect it to be like £100, or perhaps £0. But every time I go back, it's still around £250. That's roughly what it was yesterday anyway. I suppose I got my grandma's pocket money at the end of the month. Which suggests I'm still due an Employment Support Allowance payment (I hope) roughly tomorrow. Hmm. I'm not really complaining. It's just weird not knowing where it's all coming from. Again, not complaining though. It does make me worry about spending it wisely, now that I have it. I still need to buy a second pair of jeans, and register for Connotations. And there's an MP3 player in WH Smith that is £30 reduced from £60 (if it's still there), since my old one is broken. So maybe I can make a commitment and buy some stuff, finally. Although I should also be saving up for this holiday in a few weeks, I guess. Hmm. And there's a woman I've found an etsy who does lovely little art illustrations of cartoons and films from the 80s and things, for about £4 each, which I've been agonising about. That's less of a priority though, obviously.

Anyways, I'd best be off and start trying to sort out dinner before Coronation Street (hurray!) tonight. Ghost!Tony sighting: Still zero. Hmph.

P.S. The girl on Hollyoaks decided to cover up her lying with MORE LYING, by the way. Oh, Leanne.

I have a cold. Except this cold has come with side effects I've never experienced before. Like a headache that went all the way up from my jaw to my temples, and which prevented me from sleeping last night because there was no not-painful way to put my head on the pillow. Except laying on my back, at which point my throat started to hurt. It's hard to tell which things are because of the cold, or because of excessive coughing and whatever. I made a special effort to go to bed at 3am last night (early compared to the times I have been going to bed lately), but I guess because I wasn't tired and because of the cold I ended up having to get up at 8.30am to do something I don't normally do: take medication. Two paracetamols and a cherry lozenge later, I managed to actually get some sleep. Except that I was woken up about an hour and a half later by my mum, because there was a man who was supposed to be coming to fix the fridge, but we didn't know when he was coming, and there was a picnic my mum wanted to take my two nephews to. She'd called the repairman to see when he was coming, and he said he had the part, but it had a piece with it he didn't know what to do with, because he'd never seen it before, so he was ringing all his friends to see if anyone could tell him. And he might need to reschedule and come in the afternoon. So my mum woke me up to say she was probably going out to the picnic, if he didn't come in the next 10 minutes or so, so if he came while I was out and I heard him, could I run down and let him in. I told her yes, but I probably wouldn't hear him, because I would be very much asleep. And then she left, and I went back to sleep. And I either didn't hear him, or he came later, because I didn't let him in, but he did come by and fix the fridge.

All of this has led to me waking and getting up really quite recently, still with a bit of a cold. I'm mostly wondering, again, whether I should skip my confidence course again. Because I've got a cold, and I can't see me getting to sleep terribly early tonight. But I don't really want to miss two weeks in a row, especially since you can't really call and say you're not going to be there, or why you're not coming. But, if I have a cold, I probably won't be able to do a lot of speaking anyway. But, even if I can't speak, I could probably still listen. I don't know. We'll see.

And now I have to go because Hollyoaks is on. Normally, if Brendan, Ste, Jacqui or Seth aren't on it (which they aren't this week), I don't enjoy it terribly much. But yesterday feature a (slightly mad) girl talking her 'new best friend' into dressing up in Starlight Express costumes so they could go to the Drama Society Ball together, and then skating around with each other singing the songs. But then, there idyllic skating and budding friendship was ruined when one of the girls realised the (slightly mad) one had lied about being attacked by the same person who had killed that girl's sister last Christmas, and ran out. It was very sad.
