You Should Be a Film Writer

You don't just create compelling stories, you see them as clearly as a movie in your mind.
You have a knack for details and dialogue. You can really make a character come to life.
Chances are, you enjoy creating all types of stories. The joy is in the storytelling.
And nothing would please you more than millions of people seeing your story on the big screen!

Hurrah?

Probably hurrah, yes. Though writing anything at this point would be a plus.

The one bad thing about copied DVDs people have kindly made for you is that you can't screencap them, or I don't know how to. If so, I would naturally have iconned Damien looking mock-yearningly at Henry's nephew for, like, five whole minutes. And also Dave bending right over Damien's legs/lap to get something from under his desk. Because omg. I'm contenting myself with how hurt Damien looked when the nephew suggested his style was dated. And missing having [livejournal.com profile] tiniago here to squee with :'(

But I watched Green Wing, finally. I watched the Green Wing with Guy in the coats. Guy crying in the coats. Guy with his broad chest and leaning right over Sue White and staring into her face and crying and screaming and offering the sex and omg. I laughed in the face of Guy!het once. No more. It is matched only slightly by him shamelessly, disregardingly using his tragic past to seduce a blond nurse with big teeth (from Man Stroke Woman). And putting his face very very beautifully close to Caroline's while he cautions her about using locks.

He just needs to have sex with everyone.

The spoilers (I didn't mean to, but yes) for next season are making me boggle. Boggle, I say. It is very kind of the universe to put it on so close to my birthday. Thank you universe. And cheers for the American Gothic DVDs, as well.

I'm meant to be having a lecture at 4. Except that last week our tutor said that we 'would not be having a lecture in that room', and I thought she talked about emailing us with the room change, but I haven't heard anything yet. So I'm starting to think she meant a lecture at all. But I can't be sure.

I could go home. Or read. But I choose to waste some hours on the internet (conveniently close to my inbox) instead. Hence, a few memes:

New Snaps Cup Meme! Which you should all totally do yourselves as well.

And, snagged from a few people but probably mostly [livejournal.com profile] nerdcakes: Name a character or pairing! Watch me I ramble on about it!

You can pick characters and pairings I don't know if you, but my ramblings might be slightly random and inexplicable.

Okay, meme. Much shorter hopefully than previous comments. I would like to spend less than all night on this. Also, I am using the 'Jekesta method', which essentially means these aren't at all my 'top five', but the five I can think of/like the best today, particularly. Yes.

Fic genres )

That was fun. Though it makes me sort of hate regular TV. Hmph. Have been watching more of Angel - every day, in every way, I know where more and more of the title clips come from. I do not like Buffy. I do not like the episode with Buffy in it. I cried nevertheless. But now I want to write fic wherein they both get their wish, and Angel is human and Buffy is not a Slayer, and they are both just so. Bored. With each other. Hmm. There is still not enough Lindsey, but as of next episode there will be Wesley, and I think I might love him enough to put me on for a while, from what I've heard. And then he can have a part in the Mpreg, doing research and being flaily and telling Lindsey how to breathe during the labour, which is all for the good.

Am in much better mood today :). This is either due to sleep or lack of sleep, or possibly pizza. But much more likely Green Wing! Teh yay! I <3 you Guy! His hair was all messy and foxy, and he skateboarded on his stomach! And talked about his pelvis! And his parts did not have that Comic-Relief forcedness, and yayayay.

Also, I will point out that Guy flashed his arse, and within minutes Mac was chasing him down a hallway. Draw your own conclusions.

I watched Nathan Barley also last night. And I liked it. And I don't care. I want the crazy model's song on CD. Is it wrong to want Dan/Nathan slash? ::worries::

Was going to buy Glamour magazine today, but then got SFX instead. If ever I need geekboy credentials, I feel these are them. But there was talk of Sea of Souls. And Angel/Spike slash. And Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Eeee.

Stupid computer room is closing within minutes of me getting here so must go. Goodbye!

Lots of TV watching though. Miss Marple's foxy behatted detective of the week was John Hannah - really might have to write detective!slash orgies before too long. Eastenders too, of course, which really is just so slashy - all about old-Skool hard men out of their time, and the sensitive new men they terrify, as far as I can tell. Have a burgeoning new 'ship of Den/Alfie now - really wish I'd seen the episode where Den throws him out. If only someone had told me Alfie would yell back. Plenty of Den/Dennis too of course, though I can't decide if I actually do want them to have sex or just continue being a really strange father-and-son without Sharon in the way. Saw an old clipshow of Eastenders anyway, and young!Den was a fox! As far as I'm concerned it's all about the Andy/Alfie/Den/Dennis now, in all its permutations. I'd write fic, if I wasn't feeling so very guilty about my language essay, which I have started reading for now, and its thankfully the concept that's complicated, not just me that doesn't understand it :).

Watched the Top 100 TV treats of 2004 also, and had the unexpected treat of seeing Green Wing come in at 9! After the Comedy Awards, I was starting to think only the 70 people in [livejournal.com profile] ___greenwing knew and appreciated it.

They showed the (cut-up) scene of Guy dancing down the street.

My heart swelled.

Eeee!

Watched a little of my Spiderman 2 DVD as well - I knew Peter gave a little smile when the 'tentacles' first come to life! Seduced by the dark side of science, ey? Sigh. He'd be such a great evil lab assistant/whore. Where's a mind fuck when you need one?

Hmm. January sales are on. Which means possible death-by-shopping, but possible cheap DVDs and nice things. Perhaps even nice green leather gloves from Marks and Spencers which go with nothing I own. Must plan, but I'm thinking at least Bodyshop Sugar&Spice lip balm to start with, and the first edition of the new The Prisoner magazine. Finally I will be able to watch an episode without needing to buy a £300 DVD boxset or stay up till 3am next July. The Waterstones sale is calling me also, but that's neither here nor there.

Anyway. Bedtime. Farewell. The next time you see me, I will either be knee-deep in modality, or much much poorer (though richer in things!) Toodles.

I was completely struck down in the middle of (fairly dull) Medieval Studies lecture by this idea, which may turn into a plotbunny, and even perhaps a drabble for this weeks Contrelamontre challenge if I'm feeling adventurous, so I thought I'd share it: the 'Greek tragedy' of Sappho. I'm become fairly interested in her lately, since discovering some fascinating facts, and being the only one in my Literary Culture seminar who knew who she was (triumphant blush). She's an ancient Greek poet, perhaps the only (famous) female Greek poet, who Homer apparently considered 'the Tenth Muse'. She was also a lesbian - her all-female community on the isle of Lesbos is actually where the word comes from - and was meant to have died throwing herself off a cliff when her lover left her for a man. And was apparently turned into a bird, which is pretty, but neither here nor there.

So I'm thinking, in slashy terms of course. The way Green Wing is going I actually wouldn't be SUPRISED if Guy turned out to be gay, or even if he and Mac rode off into the big gay sunset together. I mean, I like Caroline, but not the over-shippines of the show, and Mac still seems to be being fairly cruel to her to me, and is perhaps just doing it to spite Guy, who completely ignored him at the party of much-kissing in favour of drunken women dancing really strangely.

Anyway...

Guy. Loves Elton John and Queen. Went to public school. Would tell Martin he'd passed his exams when he hadn't, but WOULDN'T go through with his plan to cut off all Mac`s hair (to Scissors Bentley`s suprise). Gay? My non-slasher housemate (who knows about my slash obssession, and seems to consider me an expert on all things homosexual now) seems to think so - she leaned over during the 'Queen' scene last Friday and asked if they were turning him into a repressed gay character. And if so, I'd say his interest lies mainly with Mac, who's moving further and further towards Caroline with every breath. And they're saying that the season's ending with be a LITERAL cliffhanger...

Am I crazy? Perhaps. But then the show's crazy, so suddenly this doesn't seem so implausible, though perhaps a little dark.

That said, while I think it would make a cool, angsty fic (with Mac coming to the rescue at the last minute, of course), I do hope that if it is indeed Guy that ends of playing centre role in the 'Greek tragedy' that the writers don't push him too close to the edge. Because I can't see him coming back from that completely the same. And I like him how he is. I'm half-tempted to spoil myself and try to find out what happens, but no. I'll be strong. And analyse each and every thing he does and word he says in tomorrow`s episode, looking for signs of despair, and if I find them run screaming to the nearest spoiler dispenser.

And this 'short, off-the-cuff' post has suddenly become the longest of the day. Sigh.

Hey. Still no Net in the house (I hate you, Ntl man), so I figured I'd bite the bullet and update at uni. Still obssessed with Green Wing. Having watched the repeat of Friday`s ep, I've realised Guy wasn't under THAT much pressure when speaking the French, and was probably just pissing about, so it's not THAT adorable (though still kinda). However, I also came to realise that everything he does in the 'onion layers' scene is incredibly hot. He recurls his hair! He undoes her gown with his teeth! He's such a fox! (a sporty fox)

Have even wrote a little Guy/Mac fic, but I don't want to post it till I'm happy with it, and for some reason the idea of editing anything I've written (or adding a BEGINNING to one of the stories) makes me want to throw my laptop out the window. Sigh. Also I have my new Johnny the Homicidal Maniac book to distract me now - it's a bit weird, and sometimes annoyingly melodramatic, but also quite hilarious at times. And even makes me think (ow).

So I've mostly been scanning the Net in search of other Green Wing fic, or info, or icons. Happily, a lot of other people have noted the slash (though at times it's hard to miss, so that probably not such a worthwhile point). Found plenty of great icons (Guy/Mac! Woot!), but I'm basically stuck having to transfer them from uni computers to home on a floppy disk, and last night the disk just wouldn't give them up till I got home. Growl. Guess I'll just have to wait till I can connect straight to the Net at home.

Also found plenty of information on the lovely Guy Secretan, which I'm quite pleased about. Guy Valerie Secretan, from Switzerland. With a dead mother (apparently). Who fancies Mac. But I'm also getting kind of worried. From lurking in other journals (like a ninja), I found out that 'Joanna' said in a webchat that the last episode of the series would be 'dark' - and all the TV Guides I've been reading (yes, I'm sad) for that say things like 'can Martin stop Guy from doing something out of a Greek tragedy?'. Which I'm hoping is more to do with Martin and Joanna, than Guy going crazy/blinding himself/other things that would I would suffer sympathetically and therefore don't want. Unless he comes out of it okay...possibly helped by Mac or Martin...in which case roll on the H/C.

Just don't damage him too badly, yeah, Channel 4? Leave him in tip-top, offensive, foxy shape for Season 2.

Please.

Well, it's been about 3 months since I got this Livejournal, so it's probably about time I posted. I should be getting the Internet in my house soon, so I'll be able to connect straight from my laptop for the first time since I got LJ, which ought to make things easier. For now, I frankly just want somewhere to gush about my intense new love for Green Wing.
I didn't even like the show at first - not impressed by the first episode - but I saw it again a couple of weeks ago, and have been hooked ever since. It is. So. Slashy. Every episode I am bowled over by the slashiness. Boyce/statham. Mac/Martin. Sue/Caroline. Angela/Caroline. And my new OTP, Mac/Guy. I did not even like Mac or Guy at first (much like the show), but even then knew they were practically canon. And as of last night's episode, Guy is my new favourite character, coming in just slightly ahead of Martin, who I also adore (can't believe he collapsed crying. Aw!). And yes, loving them both gives me plenty of grief. Guy was very cruel to him last night. But then his face in the car when Caroline left! His innocent love of the gay, gay singers! And he speaks French under pressure! How foxy?! And he didn't want them to cut Mac`s hair, in the end. Because he LOVES him. Mac so clearly just being 'nice' to get Caroline, and just going after Caroline because Guy went after her (as opposed to Mac) at the party of much kissage. Soon, he will go back to being his original, bitchy self, rescue crazy, petty Guy from miserable aloneness and ride off into the big gay sunset with him. Yes. Very much so.
Anywho, must go. Have review to record for University radio. Toodles.
