Work, and that book again
Jul. 23rd, 2007 01:41 pmSo, I got sent home from my new job. Sent home is probably not a great word. "Let go". The first few days were an induction, and after a few hours the woman took me aside and said she didn't think I was the right person for the job ::cryes::
In fairness, I was kind of expecting it though. The job was a lot more complicated than it had sounded - you had to follow certain procedures and connections, and speak to "Joe Public" which meant figuring out yourself where they needed to be sent to, and they wanted to send us on a Start-Up Business course so we would understand where our clients were coming from. Around the time she started having a long conversation with my fellow temp about his business and politics degree I started to get a sinking feeling. Also, the woman said it was a front desk job, so they needed someone energetic. All the yawning might not have helped. Possibly staying up all weekend to read Harry Potter before going wasn't the best plan.
But apparently the other guy wasn't right for it either, so I don't feel that bad. And the agency have found me another position for tomorrow. And I got to ride the tram for the first time today. The other position's more receptionist work, but hopefully stuff I should be able to handle. I have to call back later to get the address and stuff.
