Why is it you can get all of the seasons of Friends of DVD - even the really CRAP ones - and yet you can only get the first season of Malcolm in the Middle, IF you have a Region 1 or multi-region player? Growl. Thanks to a recent meme, I'm jonesing for some Francis/Spengler interaction again (damn you, [livejournal.com profile] nerdcakes!!)

Also, there's still no word on the Green Wing DVDs, 9 months later; I'm not holding out much hope for the (hopeful) October release of American Gothic to be Region 2, and perhaps not for there being a Region 2 release at all, given all the trouble it took for it to get released in America, where it undoubtedly has more fans (read: buyers); and I'm told the Sin City DVD released in September, which I was REALLY looking forward to, has little to no extras and the real release will be in February, and you'd be a fool to buy it before then. I am not a happy consumer. No.

Sigh. I am not planning to post every time I take a break from the book. That doesn't mean I won't. Anyway. I'm rescinding a little of what I said about the main trio. I like them much better when dealing with actual school stuff - things they're really on a level to deal with, and happily cocking it up as much as doing well at it (Harry Potter cheats at Quidditch though, nuff said). I sense that I would probably dislike Draco more in this setting too. Sigh.

The bottom line is that I read through the Slughorn's party chapter, and hardly hated Harry or Hermione at all, or Ron despite the fact he's being a prat. I quite enjoyed it all, in fact. And I like Luna, poor mad Luna. But then Draco turned up, and was all angry and cheeky and ill-looking omg, and there was the conversation with Snape and it was just - magic. Better than anything with Harry in it so far. The perfect mix of spoiled teenager and exasperated, protective mentor, with a side of mild potential angsty slash. I don't care what either of them are planning. I love them both. I'm starting to see the Harry/Draco because how could Harry not be in love with that boy, seeing everything he sees? Snape also. And they are what I'm going to continue reading it for, and all the previous books - possibly for Sirius too, if he lives up to what I've heard. And I'm probably going to complain and hate the book a lot more before I'm done, but things like this will keep me going, and be mentioned here in great detail. Yes.

One final thing: I'm sure it's been said before, but - Nymphadora? Luna Lovegood? What precisely was Rowling watching when she came up with these characters? ::sort-of disturbed...::
