Also they're going to start putting ads on Adblocker. The Youtubers I watch who produce content for 'free' are thrilled about the irony of this, but it's pretty annoying.

My dad thinks the thermostat on our new boiler isn't working, and it's so hot in our house. SO HOT.

Coronation Street

It's nice that Johnny kidnapped Tracy, genuinely. But he could have killed her. I'm just saying. No-one would have judged.

Injustice of the day: I finally went out and got a Magnum Double Caramel today, as I do every summer when it's warm enough. But magnum have both made them smaller - way smaller than the 'Magnum Classic', which they're still selling - and made them more expensive. I'm pretty sure they used to be £1.60, and now they and the Magnum Classic are £1.99. Unfortunately, they're still delicious, so I'm probably still going to buy them. But way less often than I used to! Take that, magnum.

Feminist injustice of the day: I was coming home on the bus, and saw an advert on another bus for something called Well Woman. For a minute I thought it was to do with the Well Women's Centre, but then realised it was an advert for a supplement, the "No 1 Women's Supplement". And it occurred to me that I'd never seen an advert for a men's supplement. And I have to wonder exactly what is supposed to be so broken and insufficient about women's bodies that they need supplements to fix it. I also saw an Actimel advert tonight, and realised I've never seen an Actimel advert starring a man. Adverts are shit.

I know I'm amazed by/picky over adverts a lot nowadays, but:

I still think this one would have been better if the guy who goes over at the end had been all "Bitch, you're going to jail"

There's some personal stuff that's come up in the last few days that I'd really like to talk to my counsellor about. However, I called up this morning to see if it'd be possible to see her any earlier than next Monday, and it turns out she's a volunteer who's only in the building on Monday's, so they can't even get a message to her. Which is a bit of a shame. They do have a drop-in session tomorrow though, it's kind of early compared to when I usually get up and I have no idea if I'd actually get to see anyone or how long for. But I might go check it out. If not, it's not that long now until I'd get to see her, and I have talked this stuff through with a friend already. It's just thrown me a little bit, I sort of always assumed if I needed to see my counsellor early or talk to her, I could. But apparently it's just pretty much Mondays when she's available. Hmm.

In other news, some marketing type things that happened to me recently are a) a cold caller hanging up on me, which if anything is normally the opposite of what happens. A woman called me, asked to speak with me about my contract mobile phone, I told her I wasn't on a contract and she said "You're not on a contract? Sorry" and then just hung up. Lovely. And b) yesterday I was in McDonalds, and the card swiping machine they had was advertising McDonald's coffee and donuts to me in it's idle time. Is this what the world is turning towards? Everything will have a screen, and every screen will be advertising something? Because that will be a terrible world. That is my prediction right now.

On the plus side, I did manage to pick up my Netbook. Unfortunately I don't really have anywhere to set it up - my bedroom is kind of a mess. And short on space. So I've decided to buy a case to keep it in before I actually get it out. And I still hate the colour. Oh well.

ETA: Oh and also, I changed my Livejournal email to my new gmail account, experimentally, and now I'm suddenly getting comment notifications in my inbox again. Rather than just 'your subscription is running out/pay us money' messages. So I guess it must just have been an odd Hotmail thing. Which is weird. But I'm not going to argue with getting them again now.

Today I went into PC World to look at Netbooks. I've been thinking about getting one for a bit, on and off. I noticed they had a much smaller selection than the last time I went in, and as far as I could tell they had a lot more Ultrabooks - which may well be the same thing, but they didn't bother calling them Netbooks. Maybe Netbooks are out of vogue at the moment.

But in any case, I was wandering around the rest of the store, since I don't go into computer shops very often. And I ended up in the "PC Accessories" aisle, which it turned out was where they put the special mice and keyboards for gaming. And...wow. I'm sure they're very useful for PC gamers, and for people who want to play console games on their PC - I had more than enough trouble trying to use my own mouse while playing Skyrim last year (the mouse used to turn the screen effectively when I played Morrowind, but NOT ANYMORE). But in this case I think the packaging sort of outdoes the product.

You probably think your mouse is pretty good, don't you? But why have a mouse when you could have a DEATHADDER? Or maybe the Deathadder's too flashy for you. How about an ABYSSUS? Not flashy enough? How about an IMPERATOR? Or the ever-popular OUROBOROS? THE POWER OF THE GODS COULD BE YOURS. IN MOUSE FORM.

Your keyboard, how's your keyboard working out for you? There's a good chance the BLACK WIDOW would work better. Or the more efficient (probably) NOSTROMO? Or the DEATHSTALKER?

And I bet under your non Deathadder, or Death-anything, mouse, you're just using a mouse mat, aren't you? Don't you know you could be using a MANTICOR? Or a GOLIATHUS? Or an INVICTA?

I don't mean to mock these accessories too much, because I kind of love them, and want them all. But it kind of seems like you wouldn't need the games once you had these mice and keyboards. It would be exciting enough just being around the GOLIATHUS AND IMPERATOR? WHO NEEDS FALLOUT OR MASS EFFECT? Man. PC Accessories have massively come on since the last time I paid any attention to them.
