...but much nicer things happened to me over the weekend. I went shopping on Friday, and actually managed to buy a new pair of smart black trousers, after about four years of wearing my sister's hand-me-downs, which continue to be and look fine, but they make my mother cry. But got lovely new ones in River Island, for only £20! And then a pair of lovely smart-casual trousers, which a snaky green belt, for only £25. And a lovely new pair of sunglasses, which actually look nice on me. It is very clear to me now that River Island is a thing of beauty and a joy forever, and should be treasured by everyone. Yes.

And today is Valentine's Day, which always turns out quite interesting for me. At least since I stopped mourning the pretty chocolate and realised i don't actually NEED a boy to buy it for me. Mark's and Spencer's heart 'mosaic', you will soon be mine. And given that i managed my not eating chocolate/sweets/nice things goal, I think I deserve it. Sadly, I do not think that there will be marvellous adventures tonight like there have been in previous years, like attempted dog-rescues and gay clubs - I like to think that buying nice chocolate and marvellous adventures are somehow cosmically linked - but....all my flatmates will be out, so i can rent some nice DVDs and sprawl out in the living room, yay! Amelie, perhaps, since I have not seen her yet. Perhaps followed up by something horrory and beautiful. hmm....

I need to make more lists. Clearly I do not make enough. And clearly there is no time like the present :)

Also I need the Internet in my room, but that will never happen now, and I must rely on uni computers. Growl. I'm sure I could insightfully ramble so much more than this. Sigh. I hate you, Ntl

Spent the weekend at home in Yorkshire (ee by gum, and whatnot), where I had more access to the Internet than I do here, and yet I updated less. Mysterious. Wasn't as boring as usual (no offense, padres), possibly due to the three week old baby constantly crying, or sucking his fist, or doing something else fascinating like, y'know, moving his arm. He continues to be marvellous, and I didn't even do anything foolish like kiss him on the nose or sneeze on him or accidentally drop him in the bin or anything (is proud). The weekend also involved Pizza Hut takeout, and a good £85 'earned' through premium bonds and a generous grandma, and so can be considered a success all round.

And of course, have been watching plenty of TV - I didn't want one in my student digs at first, because I can waste so much time with it, but I'm glad for it now. I would never have known the glory of Green Wing and Sea of Souls otherwise. Yay. I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Andy Hunter - he ain't no gangster, just a crazy, mixed-up kid in a sharp suit. I want to say 'do yourself a favour, kid: close down the bookies, buy the Vic from dirty (dirty) Den, rehire Alfie, and live together with him and his cousins in shacked-up alcohol-fuelled bliss'. But I can't :(. Was distinctly cheered up by Danny luring his 'brother' into a dark empty house so he could stare longingly through the darkness at him and say they 'could be very happy here'. You go, crazy psycho-boy. Shag that family. In Hollyoaks news, Ali and Justin are clearly about to become New Boy's bitches in the hopes of being signed to his dad's team, and Lisa has magically become a complete cowbag through the glory of character-rape. I miss Bella :(. Not even new notannoying!Zara is as cool.

Also caught last night's episode of Look Around You, a crazy, faux-70s science show which effectively takes the piss out of every show like it, and is truly hilarious sometimes. I'd listen to 'Machadynu'. Was mostly just shocked at the fact it was hosted by Peter Seracofawitz (?), aka the voice of Darth Maul (I love you, The Sith Academy), aka Evil Duane from Spaced. I was all 'what are you doing in the Seventies, Duane? Tim has not even been born yet, how can you possibly shag him?'. Also with him was that man of a thousand faces, Mark Heap, looking actually rather Jack Nicholson-like and sexy. It was a half hour of shocks. But reminded of the mmm, Duane/Tim, which possibly I will squee about as part of the 'explain three of the random interests in your interests list' meme. But not today, as this post is already long enough, and i have (stupid) very good reading to do (strike-through effect, anyone? Anyone at all?)
