Well.

For anyone who's been following my ongoing Netbook drama, yesterday my dad apparently had some trouble connecting our phone to our modem, or his phone, or something. So he called up BT and did some things and reset the router and eventually got his phone back online, and he suggested to me to today that since the router's been reset my Netbook might work now. I tried it tonight, and it connects! Privately I'm vindicated that it was actually something to do with the router and not because "Netbooks are too old for up-to-date WiFi networks", but mostly I'm just glad it's all worked out, and happy I probably won't have to call BT to try to troubleshoot the problem. And I hope it continues, naturally. Right now the Netbook is sat on a DVD case vainly trying to update every programme on it at once, as I suspected it would. At the moment it's my internet security it's trying to update - progress is at 0%. But at least it's connected! Woo hoo!

On the downside, I have a bit of fingernail caught between my teeth, and I can't get it out and it's really annoying me. Boo.

Also today I assembled a DVD storage unit (which I was delighted to find all my games fitted into - I don't even have 50 yet), and a CD storage unit because they came together in the same box. Mostly I've decided that flat-pack furniture is bollocks, and even if it only cost £20 for both they should just make it better. The holes did not line up with the other holes, I had to make the screws fit with brute violence. But I did finish them, and they both look pretty swanky. The kit came complete with 'screw covers' for the top screws, which I now realise are to cover up the scars and destruction you have to cause just to get the damn things to screw together. At least it makes me feel better that the bookcase I put together a few years ago - and which is still encasing books - ended up a little wonky. I assumed it was because I didn't have much experience, or a spirit level, or a magic penis, but no, it's just because DIY flatpack furniture is a bit shit. Anyway. I have put all my games into the DVD tower thing so I don't have to keep them in a stack that falls over easily, and at some point I will put some of my CDs in the CD tower, so I don't have to keep them in boxes anymore and can get them out with the greatest of ease. Hurrah.

Also, Coronation Street, contains some huge definite and possible spoilers for Tina )

As for Coronation Street, the only people I care about at the moment are David and Tina. I love that they're best friends. I wish they'd run away together. They could go on a crime spree, or take over the world, or just have adventures. Maybe on a cruise ship. Or they could just take Max and the new baby, and David would probably steal Jake for Tina, and play happy fucked-up families somewhere else. They are basically the only two people whose characters are the same from one scene to the next. I LOVE THEIR EYES AND HOW THEY LOOK AT EACH OTHER.

Spoilers for last Monday's episodes, and warning for racism )

And fuck Karl especially.

And today in Dragon Age: Origins...Spoilers )

And tonight on Coronation Street, David was ill and fell over, and his older brother had to rush to his side and help him and tend to him. I did wonder if they'd mention his epilepsy ever again. And now they have. Sally should really be more careful about talking about Kylie and Nick's secret though, since if it gets out, David will kill everyone. Everyone on the street. Honestly Sally, do you not love your street at all? Or daughter? Or self? Tut.

I have heard weird things about the Tina pregnancy storyline coming up, but mainly I just think Tina, Gary and David should just go live together with the baby, and possibly Kylie and Nick's baby as well (it is probably Kylie and Nick's baby), after David terrifies everyone with his scary eyes into just letting him look after it. A happy OT3 is all I'm looking for. With Tommy involved as little as possible just because I think he's boring. I cannot guarantee their kid/s would be the most well-adjusted who ever lived. But they would be the best protected. And with the best three parents. And David would never have to worry about being left alone with the kids, because there would probably always be at least one of the other two around to help out. EVERYBODY WINS.

It's been 8 days since I last posted, and I'm sure I had a bunch of things to say, but I can't remember them now.

I've received a beautiful card of CHRISTMAS RESCUE from the [livejournal.com profile] whatho, thank you [livejournal.com profile] whatho. Also my sister came down to our house - that was fun. It's my nephew's first birthday today, but my mum went off on an overnight trip yesterday, so we wouldn't have had time to do anything as family today. So I knew it was going to be a weekend we'd be celebrating it, but I really assumed it would be this weekend. But no, last Saturday, as we were getting ready to go to a Christmas do at a local park with my MN and ON, my mum suddenly told me we were having them all down the next day. I hadn't even got my YN a present, they had to drop me off as we got back from the park at about 5 o'clock at a Poundstretcher so I could get him something. THEN, on Sunday morning, my mum suddenly broke the news that my sister HAD been angry, extremely angry, about the fact I didn't lend her any DVDs last week, and mum just hadn't mentioned it. I'd asked that night if my sister had said anything when they dropped my ON back off at home, and mum just said my dad had taken him, and hadn't said anything about it. But no, apparently the next day she had a massive go at mum about it, and had said she'd been 'livid' when she realised I hadn't sent her any DVDs. But not to worry, mum said. She been talking about coats I might like the day afterward, and probably wouldn't say anything in our house to me. Which was, y'know, lovely.

But in the end it was fine, as soon as my sister came in she looked right at me and smiled. Not in a creepy way. And then we were mostly just focused on my YN and his birthday, which was good for me as I hardly get to see him. He can walk a few steps now, if someone's there to lure him towards them and catch him when he falls on them. And my sister didn't say anything at all, just tried to joke with me randomly as usual. I guess, also as usual, she's okay to just rant at mum about things and not say anything actually to me.

Also, I caught a bit of Coronation Street on Friday. It was only a bit of the last episode, but I learned that surrogacy is a nearly unheard of practice that is one of the worst things you can do. I don't know, did everyone in the Rovers know Owen was paying Tina to do it? Because otherwise attitudes to things in Manchester must just be very different to attitudes everywhere else. Also, a policewoman turned up and Steve's first comment was either an assumption or a joke that she was a stripper. Nice. However, I did learn - as I suspected - that I would really love David and Tina to be friends again, although they probably shouldn't date again. And that David looks beautiful when he cries just slightly.

I went to see Skyfall again with my dad yesterday, while my mum was away. Skyfall spoilers )

And I have continued to play Skyrim and Hearthfire, which is buggy as hell. Like - ridiculously buggy for a game that was made professionally and released by a successful game studio, for money. Crash-to-desktop buggy. RIDICULOUSLY buggy. But I still love my houses and my kids. Then I loaded a save from a couple of days ago and gave up on a bunch of progress, all because of my continuing love of hot Orc women. Ahhh.

Also, I have been rewatching old Arrested Development episodes. And it turns out Jane Lynch was in it! As a redwood of a whore! I love Arrested Development.

Also, it is cold as hell. Also, I still don't know what I want for Christmas, aside from one thing I have asked my mum to get me. So it'll probably be money, this year.
