I'll be honest, I didn't really hear much of it, thanks to my (utterly, UTTERLY gorgeous) nephew's new range of musical toys, and the dog being given a new squeaky toy, to 'keep him quiet' - slight logic paradox there, as you might well guess. But I saw, and I got the gist, and it was good. I am love on the new Doctor, in a way I never ever was with Christopher Eccleston, with his slight tendency to act like a self-righteous twat. But new Doctor...it's not just because David Tennant is pretty/sexy/lovely. He rambled on a bit sometimes, but oh. 'No, that's from the Lion King'. And 'I wanted to be ginger!'. And 'oh my god, I'm rude'. And the way he sort of idly fondled the leopard-skin coat. The new Doctor - second hands, but no second chances. And he wears a suit and trenchcoat, like a Detective. A time-travelling, adorable detective. I likes.
And he was so happy to see Mickey! Mickey, who I love as always. He's a mechanic! And a computer/research expert! He's a techy chav! And he thinks he's not brave, but he so is. He's the stay at home wife with a shotgun under the bed! And slightly in love with the Tardis, I think. I was mentally shouting so hard 'Take Mickey too! Take Mickey too!' at new Doctor, who proved his adorable obliviousness and lack of detective skills by ignoring the blatant 'I wish I could see the fancy planets and stars' look on his face at the end. You probably thought he was sad over Rose leaving - do not be fooled. Mickey = the best companion that never was, ever.
Rose, on the other hand, really annoyed me this episode. How badly do you want us all to understand you're completely dependent on a man? I mean, I know he's a time-travelling, all-knowing space Doctor, which helps with the time and space travel, but...jeez. And I know she was all brave and standing up to the Sycorax (sort of), but...ugh. Annoyed me. Unlike Mickey. Who should have a lot more fic and slash than he does, and probably with Ten.
I know people will be mostly going slightly mad over all the 'Torchwood' references. And ass-kicking Harriet Jones - woah. Slightly bitchy, but slightly woah. I completely missed the six little words, due to the above-mentioned reasons. I will rewatch tomorrow (thank YOU, Sky Plus recording). I am sad, and hasn't he fucked up the timeline? What happened to three consecutive terms? I know that's an odd thing to be complaining about in Doctor Who, but...hmph.
Anyway. Yay Ten. Yay Mickey. Yay :)
In other news, Black and White 2 is a hideous bitch and I hate it. First it complains that there is not enough space on my hard drive to support its MASSIVE weight, then when I delete things (things I use! Things I love!), it takes up so much space I can't install the other game. And then it takes about five hours to get started, and FREEZES UP before I even manage to start a new game! Three times! Forcing me to crash my computer, three times! You better believe I uninstalled it. Back to the shop for IT! The Movies, on the other hand, is working perfectly, and I love it. Hopefully it will one day let me write slashy films. Then I will love it even more.
In other other news: £15 WH Smith voucher from sister. £100 cash from grandma. Sorted :)

Date: 2005-12-25 02:11 pm (UTC)Mickey is always lovely. Lovely with his FACE. He is not as crazy and bold as the time travellers, but slowly learning to do the right thing at the right time, while still maintaining a normal life. I wish he was a companion. Or occasional companion. He deserves alien planets.

Date: 2005-12-27 08:07 am (UTC)Hmph. Just because he's not the star of the show doesn't mean he shouldn't be on TV ALL the TIME. They will be leaving soon, anyway, so you'll have your wish. And maybe Mickey will go with them, and we can both be happy? Unless you just hate Mickey. :(.
::dances you a dance nonetheless, because Dr Who and Tennant is ALWAYS A CAUSE FOR SQUEE:: :D

Date: 2005-12-27 08:34 am (UTC)OMG HE COULD HAVE A SPIN OFF SHOW! That only you would watch. And then he can be on telly all the time and I never have to see him yay! I'm sure I wouldn't hate him if he wasn't RUINING DOCTOR WHO and he's not really so much as Earth as a whole is, but I am making him the SCAPEGOAT HAH!
SQuee OMG.

Date: 2005-12-27 08:46 am (UTC)I love Mickey. And earth. I flaunt my lack of having seen the old series and knowing how much better it might be than the current one. I also point out that all the Earth crap is more to do with Rose's emotional state and connections than the poor innocent ordinary people she is
inflicted oninvolved with. If Mickey was a companion and we never saw Earth I would be equally happy. And now I abandon you in favour of my Mickey-loving consortium (http://www.livejournal.com/users/sarah531/117019.html?thread=593691#t593691). Hmph! ::swirls skirts AWAY FROM YOU and folds arms::
Taking your final comment reading only the capitals gives Squomg. Which is my new favourite word. Omg.
