Heroes!

I've just watched the first two episodes of Heroes. It's weirdly badly written, and I was going to say interesting (ETA: I was going to say just interesting), but OH GOD THE ENDING OF EPISODE TWO. OH GOD. I might have to watch all of this now. I'm mostly thinking that the guy in the glasses/the cheerleader's father is Sylar, but it annoys me that I can't work it out. Well, all in good time I guess. Dude.

And has anyone else heard about Lost? Apparently they're intending to finish it, for good, in three seasons. It was going to be two (at least), but now they've decided on three at 16 episodes each, instead of two at 24. So 2010 is meant to be the big finale. Huh.

And Violet/The Hook-Handed Man is great! Hurrah.

Oh, they just have reactions to things that no actual person would have. It's not the dialogue really, you just think 'Oh God but that THING JUST HAPPENED!', and I can't buy into it. Much.

I'VE ONLY SEEN UP TO EPISODE TWO. But the ending to that, like I said, blew me away. I'm not really that fussed about any of the characters, yet, but I'm willing to watch the rest - I sort of was anyway - if it keeps up plotting like that. And I'm interested to see where it goes. Apparently it treats it's female characters quite badly down the line. And the basic idea is sort of just X-Men, with an overall plot. But it does have some interesting ideas. It's up to you, but I'd say give it another go. It might grow on you.

BECAUSE HE WINS? I don't know.

Hah! My thought was 'hooked' too. But ESPECIALLY because in the first book Violet throws a grappling hook, and we find out it lands on his hook, and they are hooked together. DUDE. I might also have had playlists entitled "The Devil's Tongue" and "Fernald's Folly". Ahem.

Seriously, I am the only person I have ever seen write it, besides String (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2174336/1/) (which was like a godsend). YOU WOULD BE DOING THE FANDOM A SERVICE.

THORNS? Will this be a Rapunzel type of story? THAT WOULD BE QUITE GOOD.

Oh, God. There was 'Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon' by Urge Overkill in both of them. There was 'Mr Brightside' by the Killers in Fernald's Folly, and 'Red Red Wine' by UB40 but that was possibly just because of the canonical wine. Oh, there was 'The Blower's Daughter' by Damien Rice in that as well, and 'An Honest Mistake' by the Bravery. And 'Snow Cherries From France' by Tori Amos. In the Devil's Tongue, there was 'Lovely Creature' by Nick Cave (ribbons in her hair). There was 'Go With The Flow' by Queens of the Stone Age and 'The Bitter End' by Placebo. And 'Twisted Nerve' by Bernard Herrman. That was the slightly darker one. Mostly I still love them quite a lot.

During (another) part of my full-on obsession, I once combed all of Wallace Stevens' Harmonium for anything that related to Fernald/Violet. And then imagined him reciting some to her. DON'T WORRY. IT'S FINE.

Heh. I was pretty much planning to anyway, since everyone else has seen it, and like I say, some of the stuff was impressive. But I'm witholding my judgement till the end, though!

HA. Heroes. Heroes was on Star TV when we were marooned with food poisoning in Agra. We watched some of it and were CONFUSED AND UNIMPRESSED. All the people appeared to be VERY BORING and have VERY BORING POWERS and AMAZINGLY BORING DIALOGUE and AMAZINGLY MEDIOCRE ACTING. That was my snap judgement. Also things exploded and people died a bit, sometimes, but I'm not sure who. I HOPE THAT DOESN'T COUNT AS A SPOILER. Er. Someone in it was vaguely attractive. I can't remember who. YOU LOVE MY TELEVISION REVIEWS YOU KNOW YOU DO.

LIKE A BEACON UNTO THE DARKNESS THEY ARE! I agree with most of what you say based on the two episodes I've seen. However there is a character in it later who sounds quite intriuging, so I'm waiting to see what that's like. BET YOU CAN'T GUESS WHAT HIS ROLE IS.

And quite a few people have died and things have exploded so far, so I don't think that's any kind of spoiler at all. I think maybe that's what the show's about. STICKING WITH IT, THOUGH.

I think they changed Lost to three seasons because they didn't want to put the huge Christmas break in any more because everyone HATED it. It means we have to wait ages for it to come back, but I think shorter seasons might work for it. Hm.

Heroes is so badly written and sort of poorly shot and sort of a bit odd and people keep asking if they should carry on watching and it's hard to know really. But it has Nathan in it and I LOVE HIM and he has chemistry with EVERYTHING and he is in love with his brother and he is worth EVERYTHING and also it has Hiro and he is QUITE SWEET no matter how anyone might pretend he is not.

Yeah, they mentioned that in the article. Probably it will be a good thing. I think waiting longer for a vaguely wrapped up season is better than a however-month long cliffhanger. I think I prefer shorter American seasons anyway, like Deadwood.

Yes, this was pretty much my verdict. There was a bit, a bit after Mohinder and the girl next door had heard the tape about how his father had helped someone become a murderer, and then she just finds the lizard and is like 'Dude! Mohinder, meet Mohinder! Aren't you a precious little lizard?' and it's like 'What?'. THAT'S ANOTHER VERDICT. Nathan is the older one, yes? He does seem a lot less emo than his little brother. And Hiro is lovely, and I sort of like the cheerleader, and the reflection woman seems quite interesting. I'm waiting to see what Sylar's like, mostly. HOPEFULLY HE WILL BE SOME GOOD.

OH GOD I HATE MOHINDER'S GIRL PERSON I HATE HER WITH STABBING MOTIONS. Um. It's very sad that it is written badly, I think a lot of people hung around because the basic idea is quite good and some of the individual characters are shiny. Mostly I like that when the two dudes are talking Japanese the subtitles are beautifully placed and not just along the bottom of the screen. I forgave Heroes a lot for this. Also because when Dutchess and I were watching it we watched an episode of Torchwood in the middle and suddenly the dialogue ALMOST SEEMED TO SPARKLE IN COMPARISON.

Nathan is very much the older one. He deserves a better younger brother to be in love, much like Dean.

Oh, they do that in Night Watch! That subtitle thing. I possibly have to show you that. It's about magicians and vampires in Moscow. And they have letters be big when they are loud, and crackly when they are angry. It's quite good. I CAN UNDERSTAND HOW IT WOULD BE BETTER COMPARED TO TORCHWOOD.

Perhaps a crossover where Dean is his little brother?

You have no iDEA how much time people spend crossing over so that Peter and Sam are together and BORING ME SILLY and they just ignore the REALLY HOT AND BEAUTIFUL OLDER BROTHERS and I HATE FANDOM SOMETIMES, RACHAEL, I TRULY DO.

Oh, I do not remember the subtitles in Nightwatch. Did I not mention having seen Nightwatch? YOU SHOULD NOT HATE ME, SOMETIMES I FORGET TO SAY THIS. It was rather good. I have not read it, though, so I feel a bit wrongly.

If you could just tell me everything you ever did ever, that would be fine. Have you seen Eerie, Indiana? I had a vague thought you might like it, but I probably don't have to show it to you. I only read the Night Watch book in January. I think I prefer it to the film, but the film does have a slightly different storyline. The book's chock full of gay though. That's quite nice.

You know I still love Sam! And I did like Peter better, but then he threatened to kill himself to make his brother talk to him, and that was a bit rubbish. And his brother flew up to catch him. That was quite beautiful. It does seem quite rubbish that fandom would crossover over those two and not the others though. Especially considering how many people love Dean. Bad form, fandom.

I have seen vague bits of Eerie, Indiana, but not all of it or enough to know if I like it or anything yes. I have been meaning to see it. Good.

I've been meaning to read the books, because they do look very good. I'm waiting until they're all out, though, unless they are and I just didnt' notice. I'm not very good.

IT'S SO WEIRD WITH THE CROSSOVERS. Because EVERYONE loves Dean and EVERYONE mostly loves Nathan unless they don't have a soul, but EVERYONE crosses over the other two. Sometimes they cross Nathan with Lex and THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY OH GOD SO HAPPY. But yes. Dean/Nathan doesn't make huge sense, I think is the trouble, mostly they can only bond over having not very good brothers (sorry). But the pretty! you'd think fandom would give in to it just for the pretty. Bad form indeed.

I will send you the DVDs if you ever want to see it. The last 'Night Watch' book is out in July - I'm pretty sure that's the last in the series - but they're not really the kind of books that leaves you hanging, if that's what you were worried about. Or at least the one I read wasn't. I should really get around to reading the second at some point. YOU KNOW I'M USUALLY GOOD WITH THINGS LIKE THAT.

They have fighting evil in common. I assume Nathan eventually fights evil. Probably I should wait till I have watched more of each thing before I have opinions on it. Hm.

I'm just not very good at reading books if there is more of them to come and it isn't out. I have just done it with Song of Ice and Fire and it is a BAD PLAN and yes. Mostly I like to read them all at once.

I will add Eerie Indiana to my list of things to watch. I am about to embark on the invisible man because Tiniago told me to SEVERAL FOREVERS AGO.

I LOVE NATHAN I LOVE HIM. He was Profit, you know, he slept naked in a box and had computer images of people he hated and he exploded them when he'd dealt with them in rl.
