Went to Leeds. And the Ted Baker jacket was much less pretty than I remembered it. And brown. I don't know where I got 'purple and white' from. Funny how we remember things.

Things I don't like:

  • The new trend of placing mannequins at random points around the shop floor, such as against walls and sat on tables, so that they look just like real people. Because dude, omg, what?

  • Liking something (clothing-wise) for ages, and finally going to get it on what turns out to be the DAY the new season begins, and the remnants of what you wanted are pushed on a tiny rack somewhere in the back, and they're all in the wrong sizes, and the only one that will fit is dirty, omg!

  • Headaches :(

  • Having to queue up for half an hour to buy a bottle of water because you happen to be in Leeds City Centre.

  • Leeds Bus Station toilets. Where cleaners fear to tread.

But I did find Night of the Hunter for £5 at HMV (cheaper even than the Internet! Omg!). And Firefly for £17.99! And THEN I got a student discount! :D

I did not go for DVDs. Honestly. But a deal is a deal, finances be damned! And after flicking back through some Mal/Jayne slash I sense I will be obsessed with Firefly/Serenity in fairly short order anyway. In conclusion: yay.

Still need to do about 300 things before moving back to uni. Probably I will sort through my stacks of things in the garage tonight, hunting for useful things. And watch Lost. It is a plan, yes.

So, apparently I'm going to the Serenity premiere in Nottingham next Tuesday. On the grounds that...yes.

:) Hurrah!

Eeee, Amazon sent me books! In lovely cardboard packaging! They are so shiny and pretty and square ::pets them:: And then there is bubblewrap, which is just the icing on the cake. I wish I had ordered The Monk instead of Caleb Williams, because apparently it is all sex/death/incest in a monastery, but ah well. I have Dracula. I have the BTVS script book. Some of the episodes have Spike. I might get to study Spike. Oooh, maybe I will have to compare Spike to Dracula, and then I can be all 'actually, Dracula was in an episode of BTVS, episode...', and I can push my glasses (I'll get them from somewhere) back up onto my nose, and be all academic and knowy about Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hurray :D

I'm reading plays at the moment. I quite like John Ford. Penthea/Orgilus forever, omg! I'm not even slashing. Much. I have decided there are not enough plays about vampires and werewolves. Possibly living in low-rent housing and smoking and bitching about the lack of good hunting these days. No.

Also, I have watched the River Tam Sessions. They gave me fairly violent flashbacks to Samara in The Ring (oooh, Samara/River...), but I do love River. I had forgotten how much. She may become my laptop wallpaper very soon. Oh River.

A question: I have watched some episodes of Firefly. Not all of them - not anywhere NEAR all of them - but some of them. Whatever I could catch on Sci-fi in the middle of the day before someone wanted to watch something else. I have also read some discussions and fic. I know who all the people are, I know their basic relationships with each other, I know some of the things that have happened to them, I know the gist of the stuff with River. Should I endeavour to buy/rent/somehow watch the entire series before Serenity comes out, or should this basic knowlede be enough to get me through?

ETA (A note: I will probably not actually watch the series, because I doubt I'll find it for rental, and I'm saving for the start of uni at the mo, and because I'm going to be very busy in September, so probably won't have time for a series before the 30th, but there's always a chance, and I'd rather feel frustrated now than guilty and stupid walking out of the theatre, when it's much too late.) since finding out the Serenity release date is in November, not September ;)
