Today was my job interview. It went fine, it was a lot more casual than I'm used to in job interviews. And apparently the position doesn't really exist yet and the charity has never really done anything like it before, and are sort of planning to define the job as they go along. Which made discussing it and asking questions difficult. And the fact that it was so casual sort of made it hard to judge how well I was doing. There was a man there and a woman leading it, and sometimes the woman looked sort of bored, and sometimes she looked happy. But it went alright, and I said some things and mentioned experience I had in doing some of the things they were talking about, and asked as relevant questions as I could think of. And I didn't suddenly stop talking or start crying or anything. So I think it went okay. The only problem was I asked so many questions trying to work out what kind of role it might be that I didn't really leave time to ask when I might hear from them, so I'm just going to have to wait for that. But generally speaking I think it went okay and I'm quite happy.

So that's done. And my employment coach took me for a coffee afterwards, which was nice of her. And now on Friday there's London (I booked tickets, woo hoo!). And in the meantime, there is sleep, and obsessing about coats. Hurrah.

Other things:

  • So, as well as there being no Once Upon A Time episode last Sunday, there's also no Grimm episode this week because it's Thanksgiving, I guess. And not only is there no episode next week, they're pretending they're putting on an extra episode of Grimm, when in fact they're just delaying next Friday's episode to the following Thursday. I mean, I'm not exactly desperate to see more Grimm, but I have really been doing my best to keep up with the episodes as they've aired and their schedule. AND NOW THIS. I assume that Once Upon A Time is on again this week, although who knows. And Death Valley has finished. So there's only really Once Upon A Time and Grimm that I watch at the moment, whenever they decide to be on. I knew was opening myself up to the whims of television when I decided to start downloading shows again. But I really didn't know that this was the game I was signing up to play. Dudes.

  • Also, you know when you don't really have a pairing, but then suddenly two characters have a scene together or a bit of interaction that makes you think 'Yes, YES, that is amazing, I totally ship it', even though it's only very brief and they don't even interact together that much? And then it either gets blown apart or one of the characters dies? Looking back, I've realised that that has happened QUITE A LOT to me this year. I can't tell if I'm just easy for brief interaction, or I really do just pick doomed pairings. Or 'fandoms' that really don't seem to understand what they have. In fairness though, I've probably also gotten quite a few pairings this year that DIDN'T DIE. Still. I might do a meme. 30 days of Forced Into Ghostfic. So spoilery that no-one can read it. Hmm.

  • I have been looking at Thor fic, and I quite like both the main characters and the fandom OTP and didn't have a pairing that nobody shipped, but now I have found one :D:D:D:D

  • I'm really terrible at buying things I actually need. At this point, I need: a new winter coat, new trainers, new jeans, a new CD player, new bras, a copy of Microsoft Office I didn't copy from my mum's and whose temporary license isn't about to run out, and a new desk chair. Although the desk chair is still usable, and is possibly better for me, in the same way that you're supposed to watch TV sitting on a ball rather than a chair, because then you have to use your muscles to balance rather than just slumping into the frame of the chair. So maybe I'll leave that one for a bit. In terms of everything else, the chances that I will actually buy them are fairly slim.

  • Except possibly a new coat, because it's that time of year again, and I love all the coats.

  • Tralala, I think that's it. Have a picture:

A mere week after the show started, we are finally close to Craig Mclachan getting to skate on Dancing On Ice. He could be awful in real life. He could be a terrible skater. If he's fine in real life and a terrible skater, I might find it hard to not vote for him anyway. Last week he called himself Craig "Blades" McLachlan, and said in a taped interview bit that he was Australian, he's built for winning. I love him quite a lot even up to now.

I went to Wakefield and Leeds yesterday, as my actual shopping trip. Well, "looking at the sales" trip. Sadly the sales are now at the point where there's hardly anything left in the clothes shops except sizes 6 and 8, and things you didn't know had even gone into the sales are now sold out. I went looking for a scarf and pair of slippers in Accessorise only to find they'd gone. I went looking for this cardigan from New Look, which you may notice is sold out on the site, just in case they had a few left in the shops. I actually found two in the New Look in Wakefield, on hangers marked 12 and 14. I was about to get very excited and try on the 14, assuming it would probably be loose enough to fit, when I realised they were on the wrong hangers, and were actually sizes 6 and 8. Oh well. It wasn't as pretty in real life as it was on the website, anyway. And I think I like the style more than the actual thing itself. It's something to put on the list for next winter anyway: Oversized Cardigans.

Another thing I went looking for was a dress in Miss Selfridge. Last year, I saw a beautiful, much too expensive for me dress in Miss Selfridge that I kept going to have a look at. It was grey and floaty and covered in beads. I went to have a look if it was in the sale after Christmas, but by that point it had gone. I had a look to see if they had something similar this winter, but could only find a similar dress in "Nude" colour. Then after Christmas I was checking out a few clothing websites, and found them selling the dress or something basically the same, and it was in the sale, and it was already sold out in anything approaching my size. It's one of my other least favourite things shops do. Anyway. It wasn't there. Maybe next year, who knows.

I also realised a general flaw in my clothes shopping style, which isn't really a flaw so much as a long-standing problem: I only really like coats and jackets. I suppose it's not so much a suprise, since coats and jackets are outerwear, so they're designed to sort of look good on their own and be eye-catching, rather than you having to imagine them as part of a larger outfit. However, you still can't really justify a wardrobe that mostly made up of jackets. Do you remember that lovely purple-ish coat I was talking about a few months ago? Well, I bought that. Last week at Junction 32 I bought a jacket that's not really like anything I usually buy, but is quite beautiful, and was quite cheap. And still, I end up looking mostly at the coats and jackets on sale in most clothes shops I go into. I don't think it's entirely my fault though, when they make so many beautiful ones. Look at this one. And this one. And the current trend seems to be baseball jackets, which just seem to be beautiful at their default setting. And then there's this one, which is grey leather. GREY LEATHER. I'm probably overstating my case. I actually think I paid more attention to tops yesterday than I ever have before on any shopping trip. Which is ironic, because I don't so much need them with all the Threadless t-shirts I now have. Still can't just buy all the coats and jackets I like though. Or, really, afford them.

In other news, I still really need to tidy my bedroom. I might make that my job for this week. Also I need to go into town tomorrow and get my prescription of Mefanamic Acid refilled. Yes.

I need new shoes. Quite a lot. I really need to replace my work shoes, really. I think that if I'm going to do the Wolf Walk thing I may need some proper walking shoes. I'm not sure white and pink trainers are going to cut it. I would like some shoes that are suitable for dancing in. I also need these shoes.

In other news, I quite like coats.

And what I'm getting quite sick of is the weird layer of misogyny that seems to be running through most soaps nowadays. I don't know if it's a new thing, or it's gotten worse, or if I'm just noticing it, but really. They've got a main character on Emmerdale, Viv, in prison because of being stitched up by a male con artist, as well as the ongoing abused wife storyline, and I cannot believe what they're doing with it now, I cannot believe it, she has to SUFFER SOME MORE, SUFFER SOME MORE, for some reason. On Eastenders they've got the new older guy preying on teenage girls, and on Coronation Street we've got Rosie Webster missing and presumed held against her will. Plus all the storylines where girls inexplicably fall helplessly for a man's charms no matter how obnoxious he's being. And it's just completely - ugh. There was an Inside Soap a few weeks back that had a front cover headline of "WOMEN IN DANGER!", and the fact that it accurately described what was happening in most of the storylines only made it slightly worse. I just - ugh. WHY? is the question I would ask, if I wanted to ask questions, as opposed to just being mostly disgusted. Ugh.
