Am an aunt :). My sister gave birth at 4:20 this morning, and while I wasn't there to see it, I heard him cry for the first time. Mum called me at 8 last night to say it was starting, so I decided to be cheeky and ask my dad to fetch me (roped a housemate into handing in my literature essay). Jack Philip, 5lb 2oz. He is so amazing. I just want to stare at him all the time. He's on an incubator because he had a little trouble breathing, but he's off the oxygen now, and should be out with my sister by tomorrow morning. My sister, on the other hand, has not slept in about 3 days due to fever then labour, so is snapping and snarling at everyone, but she calms down when she's near Jack. It's all good. Part of me wants to stay as long as I can to see him, but there's not a lot to keep me here besides him and he's not mine, so I'll probably be going back on Wednesday. Doesn't mean I won't be back for visits though.

Was torn between the wonder of childbirth (aka the wonder of sitting in a waiting room for two hours) and the wonder of Adrian Mole, though. Didn't think it'd really be my thing, all political satire and man worrying about not getting laid, but And The Weapons of Mass Destruction is hilarious, and Adrian is both endearingly foolish and foxy (it does not hurt that I picture Stephen Mangan, aka the lovely Guy, in my head while reading). I even find myself rooting for Adrian/Pandora (Het! Het, I say!), though I think slash might be possible. His gay best friend is the obvious target, but has been quite cruel to him for 40 pages, so I'm more considering sweet Adrian/bookshop owner, what with hero-worship and shared booklove, or Adrian/Barry Kent, since they don't like each other (yay, tension!), yet Kent's book Aden Vole seems to have a mysterious message hidden within it. Probably I should get familiar with the other books before I start muscling into fandom, though. Also very impressed by the randomly-caught episode of Sea of Souls I saw on Saturday (last night's was interrupted due to nephew-birth). Loooving the Douglas/Craig dynamic. Possessed!slash? I think so!

Was massively tempted by cheap CDs in Tesco's today - Gwen Stefani and Damien Rice for a mere £9.97 each! - but remained strong. Bought the 7ml version of Versace Red Jeans, though. Only £3.59, bargain. Must await balance being restored to my...balance...and think, and plan, before more spending. Yes, I feel this in my bones (and wallet). Wangled a Munchies McFlurry out of the parents though. My verdict: tasty, and not even a McEmployee calling it 'Pedigree Chum' can put me off.
