Tonight in Detroit: Become Human, Connor and Hank went to see the creator of all androids, and he tried to put Connor through some bullshit 'empathy' test by seeing if he'd shoot another (non-deviant) android to get information, and Hank obviously didn't want him to, so we didn't. Outside Hank asked Connor why he didn't shoot, and there was no option to say 'because you didn't want me to'. Which I really thought there would be. I would have shot that android in a heartbeat, they've made it clear that only the deviant ones have emotions and are like humans - very like humans - so it's super unclear whether we're supposed to empathise with the ones that don't. Maybe I don't have enough empathy for this game. But I certainly think Connor would have shot her. But no, he just made up some lie about how he 'looked in that girl's eyes and couldn't do it'. Instead of 'you told me not to, I defer to your knowledge in all things Hank and want you to love me'. He's probably going to get deactivated by his handler woman now, we just went through a section where it seemed entirely possible Hank and Connor could both die, so it seems like it could happen at any time now. Except that in the creator man's house, we just learned that woman was dead. So. There's that. We'll see. Maybe he'll just get replaced, that's what she threatened us with in the last scene. By a Connor that doesn't know Hank, or feel much emotion at all. We'll see. But I'm a little annoyed they don't let my choices be my choices. Maybe they're not as invested in Hank and Connor's relationship as I am. They seem pretty invested in it though. We're back up to 'Friend' now, after descending to 'Warm' after an unfortunate shooting incident earlier. I hope this is enough to save Connor, and ride off into the sunset and etc.

Date: 2018-06-01 04:05 pm (UTC)Hmm, I guess maybe they were trying to go with the idea that just because the non-deviant android isn't sentient ATM...it might always be in the back of people's minds that there is a very strong likelihood they could develop and progress to that point so terminating one would be like ending a potential life before it had the chance to get started? Or they were trying to go for the idea that Connor used to be in said android's shoes so he would maybe have a hard time pulling the trigger as a result? IDK, I have no idea really and it maybe sounds like the game isn't conveying that well or strongly enough if those concepts ARE how it perhaps wants you to view non-deviant androids regardless...though it is interesting that Hank really didn't want Connor to do it given the fact that the other android was non-deviant.
Orz, I hope that you will be bale to save Connor at the end! *crosses fingers*
