[Poll #548600]
Been working in the charity shop again, of course. I did not get to play with the tagging gun - in fact, I think I pissed a lady off when I snuck into her place at the tagging table when the boss asked me to do a few bras (and by the way; secondhand lingerie? Not even if all I could afford for dinner was rice and cardboard. Omg.). I thought she was done and off to put something on a rack, and then she was back and STARING at me. My social paranoia is slightly kicking in and I think perhaps they all hate me, but then I remember that they can't fire me, and I can in fact walk out the door whenever I feel like it, just for a walk, and I feel much better >:)
Anyway. Yes. Mostly I put out new stock and did 'general shop tidy', which involves putting all the hangers and sizes in the right places and the right way around. Which is perhaps the perfect job for me, since I've been idly organising in clothes shops since I was 7 years old. But I was putting out some new belts, and two were really nice, and I sort of put them to the back of the rack and hated anyone who went near it all day. I felt sort of guilty for doing this. I still bought the belts. I'm not doing very well with the saving money for uni thing. One belt doesn't fit me. It is from Calvin Klein, and has a lovely buckle. But the other does, and it has a lovelier buckle, made of cherubs! Apparently I get an employee discount next week, 25%. I'll say again: charity shops rock.
Am attempting to get on with the Francis/Spangler in Alaska! fic, but for some reason I keep being bombarded with Lemony Snicket bunnies. I want Violet to grow up and start a detective agency with Fernald. Very much. Also they should dance the tango, or some form of swing dancing, at some point. I blame Fernald's suits, they have corrupted me.
I read a Willy Wonka fic by
japanpeterpan also, and it occurred to me the Baudelaire orphans should probably go to Willy's factory. Although that might count as a Fortunate Event. Which I suppose would be the challenge of it. Hmm.
(Up to) 100 things that make me happy:
Some of these are 'moments of happiness' rather than things that make me happy. But I don't care. I don't even know how many are here, so I'm going to post them and see, and probably do more later. Hurrah.

(Up to) 100 things that make me happy:
- Having the computer for a while.
- Sunshine. Especially when I don't have to be in it.
- Going to the cinema in the evening, when you don't have to do anything else that day but watch the movie.
- Finally realising how to get your crazy crackfic pairing together.
- Sitting back and realising your fic is finished.
- Sam Rockwell.
- Random bargains. Such as a Zaphod action figure for £3 in Woolworths :) (whoosh! kapow!)
- Books which look really interesting, and you don't know anything about the plot of.
- The baby, sleeping.
- The ice-cream factory at Pizza Hut.
- Lipstick/eyeshadow names.
- Really obvious and lovely perfume names, such as those found here
- Red Smeg fridges.
- My sunglasses. The only ones that have ever looked halfway nice on me, and lovely besides.
- Hotel rooms.
- Golden Delicious apples in the morning.
- Betty Boop.
- Lemony Snicket books.
- Eddie Izzard.
- The pricing gun >:)
- Books that make you ache. Not cry - ache.
- Trashy, colourful shows/books/movies, that are still really good.
- Nice smelling bath stuff.
- The way my mum talks about my dad.
- DVDs. Boxes, discs, films - the whole package.
- Shopping at independent stores. That are still cheaper than the mainstream ones.
- Pretty icons.
- My bag. It is from an art gallery and cost £40 and the handles are falling to bits, but it is green and has a list of reasons to head for the hills on it, and I love it.
- Colourful books. A row of colourful spines on a bookshelf.
- Waking up one morning and realising you're not ill anymore :D
- Finding a piece of fic (by someone else!) for your crazy crackfic pairing.
- Trying to pick a dinner from the same sets of meals you have every night, and suddenly realise you can in fact make something completely different and tasty!
- Sleeping with only one pillow - after years of sleeping with two, and occasionally not being able to sleep because my neck's too tense, it has suddenly revolutionised the nighttime!
- The smell of Karvol.
- The little smile on the face of a friend you haven't seen in ages and think maybe doesn't like you anymore, which means that they're really glad to see you.
- Seth Cohen/Adam Brody's face.
- British comedy.
- Futurama.
- South Park.
- Family Guy.
- Getting a new slash pairing, spontaneously, while innocently - well, sort of - reading/watching something.
- 99 ice-creams. With flakes and sauce.
- Livejournal comments.
- The University of Nottingham campus.
- Tuna, mayonnaise and sweetcorn. Which so deserves to be called TMS. There's nothing TMS has that BLT doesn't, alright?!
- Trogdoooooorrr!!!
- Weebl and Bob.
- The way your teeth feel when they're REALLY clean.
- My lovely new belt :)
- Modems.
- Bad films and someone to take the piss with.
- Jelly beans.
- Labyrinth.
Some of these are 'moments of happiness' rather than things that make me happy. But I don't care. I don't even know how many are here, so I'm going to post them and see, and probably do more later. Hurrah.

Date: 2005-08-09 10:19 am (UTC)52 is a good number. Labyrinth is a good film. Your list is a good list. All is good here. Good.
TMS! Yay! Books with the aching. Yes. Your bag has a list on it. I am jealousy. Ooh, the one pillow thing yes. I can't do that but sometimes I do it but sometimes it's terrible but sometimes it's perfect and I can imagine the perfect yay.
ALASKA!!! Write alaska. I don't like the unfortunate books so that has no benefit to me in it, even if you send them to meet Wonka. ALASKA! Snow! And fever! And cuddling! And and and fever! Yes. Ahem.

Date: 2005-08-09 10:38 am (UTC)morefor it, as though I'm only there for the stockroom scoop. I don't know. Hmm.Maybe I do hate them. I haven't decided. Mostly I spend my time thinking about fictional characters and how impressed they would be with my sorting skillz, which is probably unhealthy on a number of levels, and doesn't help with the socialising, no.
::flaunts bag:: >:D
Omg, you don't like Lemony Snicket? Although no actually, you probably wouldn't like Lemony Snicket. Not even with Violet who makes Molotov Cocktails, and the man with hooks for hands! But your support and yayfulness for my
othercrackfic pairing is duly noted :)::does not blame you for the numbers no::

Date: 2005-08-09 02:35 pm (UTC)I want to know why you say this. I burn with curiosity. I love when people say stuff like that. If you do not have a Good Reason I will be Disappointed:D
::is still shamed by the number wrongness::

Date: 2005-08-09 02:43 pm (UTC)I don't know. I hadn't really thought about it until you said you did not like them, which now I realise doesn't mean you DISlike them. But they're are purposefully dark and depressing-type books, neither of which things I associate with you, so...I don't know.
::is confident there is a Good Reason in there somewhere::
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-09 02:55 pm (UTC)Um. Yes. I don't dislike. I just read them and didn't really see the fuss. No. And so I don't read the fic. But yes. But not cos I like the happy things because I like the evil things also and stuff, and generally dark and depressing books are hurray. I just never got into them, I suppose yes:):)
::dances you and your Good enough Reasons for something that doesn't really even need a reason no::

Date: 2005-08-09 03:22 pm (UTC)I thought maybe you were angry at me for daring to presume things about you, but yay ::dances::
::notes down the new information, yes::

Date: 2005-08-09 03:35 pm (UTC)I don't think I read them all. I think I had about four of them in a box. It was all of them that there were at the time. So that is why. But um yes. You can try to change my mind but but but maybe I just won't read the fic ahhhhhhh! Yes. My cunning plan yo:)

Date: 2005-08-09 11:39 am (UTC)Eee! You sum up the charity shop experience so perfectly and for this I glove you so!1!!
Also: second hand lingerie. You are so right, dude. It freaks me out.
(no subject)
Date: 2005-08-09 12:38 pm (UTC)I keep being sure they're sending me down to the shop floor just so I won't be in the stockroom with them. But I am volunteering, so I get moral points even if they hate me! Especially if they hate me! Also first pick of the stock. That's commission, yo.
Why would they donate their old lingerie?? I mean yes, some of it's pretty, but it's been on other people!! A woman actually bought a ton of underwear from the shop today. And I mean a TON. I'm not entirely sure what for. Stocking up in case of nuclear war? Secondhand Lingerie Fetish party? Wait, maybe I don't want to know.
::gloves you::
