So. I had a 'courtesy call' from the Department for Work and Pensions this morning. I have been decided to be capable of some forms of work. So I'm not getting any benefit from them, as of now. I'm not really sure how I feel about it, to be honest. Like I said, I never really let myself expect to get it that much, given what I have heard about the current state of the benefits system. So it's not like it's a massive blow or anything. Mostly I'm just sort of disappointed and annoyed with them. Mainly, I'd like to see the report if I can, to see what types of work they think I am capable of.

I don't know. Maybe I would be capable of some forms of work. But given that I told them that I have problems getting to sleep, I have to repeat a lot of things I do, and I have problems walking down the street most days, I'm not sure exactly what work that is. But that's their decision. I just don't really know what I'm going to do now. I mean, like I say, I'll still have about £55 a month coming in, from my grandma and mum. But I'll have to tighten my belt, obviously. And start saving for anything I really want.

I could appeal obviously, and my sister actually managed to get some benefits by appealing a decision once, but it would mean going through a whole new process, and probably doing some stuff again. I don't really feel like going back on Jobseeker's at the moment, but that's always an option. And I could always try to get a job, just a few hours a week or part-time or something, but I don't know if I feel up to that either. If I could even find one.

Really, it would just have been nice while I was in counselling at least, to not have to worry about money or having to find a job or whatever. But they've said no, and that's that. And at least I've got a bit of money in the bank at the moment, and some still coming in from my mum and grandma, like I say. It's just disappointing and annoying, that's all.

Anyway. Some happier things include: I still love Becky McDonald with a sledgehammer, and I managed to find some amazing promo shots, even if they do include John Stape. I know it was a bit crazy and OTT, but at least it was also amazing. I really liked Scott and Bailey last night, even though I tend to find the episodes just a little unsatisfying, possibly because I'm used to the two-hour episode/case detective show format. Also, I could really do with women not always being the villains or being treated like the worst ones, hopefully that's not going to be the general theme. And a comedy email newsletter I have been getting for a bit basically justified all the months I have been getting it today, by informing me that the Psychoville finale is on tonight, not on Thursday. I'm really enjoying Psychoville at the moment, especially last week's episode, so I'm glad to have heard about that (although it was on series record anyway, it turned out).

Also, is it my imagination, or did Horrible Histories repeat a sketch they'd already done in Friday's episode? The one with Queen Elizabeth? I'm really sure I'd seen that before, down to being able to predict what happened up to the end of the sketch. Either they've repeated it, I saw some sort of preview somewhere, or I HAVE THE POWER TO SEE THE FUTURE. That's all I can think of.

Also, is it my imagination, or are there tons and tons of new dramas, and detective dramas, coming out at the moment? Maybe I've just not been very into the genre before, and this happens every spring, but my god. There are tons on, and I'm having trouble watching all the ones I like the look of. I watched Vera all the way through, and I would have liked to watch the Shadow Line, but I just don't have the mental room for it alongside everything else I watch. I was sort of interested in Case Sensitive, but again not enough to remember to watch it alongside everything else I was watching. I missed Exile with John Simm as well. I'm watching Scott and Bailey at the moment, have started watching Case Histories, I think new Luther is starting this week, and according to the itv drama preview, they have a couple of new shows on the way, including a new series of Single-Handed. Now, I'm pretty happy about there being a new series of Single-Handed, but I hope at least some of the other series' finish before I start watching that. Seriously. Is it just me, or is this a thing this spring?

I did quite enjoy Case Histories, though. The tone is not really what I was expecting from the adverts, a bit lighter, although obviously dark in some places. It feels a little bit all over the place to be honest, but it's enjoyable all the same. Another thing that confused me was where it was supposed to be set. Jason Isaacs with a broad Yorkshire accent will never not be great, but when everyone around him seems to have a London accent or a Scottish accent, it gets a little bit confusing. My dad finally said it was probably Edinburgh, and I think I recognised one of the landmarks, and I think I recognised it from New Town Killers, so I'm willing to go along with that. Probably somewhere it will actually say, if I look.

But yes, I liked it. Jason Isaacs was good, and Zawe Ashton is in it! The woman from Blitz and Misfits and Sherlock. There were a lot of people in it actually, who I recognised. Including Nick Miles from Whitechapel. But anyway. Jackson Brody is an in-demand man, apparently, hopefully that will settle down at least a bit in future episodes, because it seemed slightly ridiculous. But, ending with a shirtless, barefoot Jason Isaacs, injured and starting to pass out in the street, was VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. NATURALLY. MAYBE ALL DETECTIVE SHOWS SHOULD END THEIR FIRST EPISODE THAT WAY. TAKE NOTE, WRITERS.

Anyway. Yes. I really enjoyed it, and will be watching tonight's episode as well, probably.

I hate the department of work and pensions. I do not consider them very courteous. Surely you should be allowed to see the report though. Are you expected to guess what work they think you can do?

No, that is quite my opinion too. I think I can probably see the report, from what I've heard about other people getting turned down for Incapacity and Disability benefits, but I don't know if I'll need to ask and mess about to get hold of it, or what. Or if it will even have a list of work they think I can do in it. Or anything. They're supposed to be sending me letters to confirm their decision, my mum thinks the report might be in there. If not it might have some instructions about what to do if I do want to see it, hopefully.

In a way I always expected it, but it's still not very nice that it happened. Maybe I can appeal though, I guess.

Zoey is so great at hugging people. I love her. And Londo is so great at being hugged. I love him too.

I'm sorry. About the benefits people. They're so ridiculous.
I love Becky.
I haven't watched S&B or HH.

I know, I hate them. But there's not much I can do now except try to look what they put the report and maybe appeal, I guess.

Becky is amazing, I really think they should make her queen. And I thought maybe it wasn't the best idea to make a post that was literally riddled with different spoilers. But then I decided to do it anyway. I might try bullet points next time.

Apparently it's worse since they let ATOS be in charge of things, but I haven't really looked into it enough to know if that's true. And that's one explanation I guess - I was thinking maybe they felt like you needed to appeal to prove that you really did want Incapacity benefit or really felt like you deserved it. Which is slightly kinder, but no less rubbish really. But yeah. I don't feel especially fit for work, but that's their decision. So I guess it's appealing or nothing, at this point.

I really like Bailey, and they also have lovely Joyce from Suburban Shootout. But it's lovely that they get to be in charge of things, and do things, and talk to each other. Although I think it could still use a few tweaks, in some areas. But mostly I'm really liking it. Are you still watching Coronation Street, by the way?

Well, I've heard plenty of horror stories, so I'm hopefully prepared for whatever they put in there.

I HATE JOHN STAPE. I wish he'd just go away and stop ruining everyone's lives and my show. Although it might be better for Fiz if he lives long enough to back up her story. But apart from that, I want nothing from him. My recaps are mainly I LOVE BECKY, so I hope that's good and informative enough for you. SHE IS MIGHTY FINE THOUGH.

Thanks. I'm sort of onto the furious, "they're bastards" part of my reaction, but there's not much I can do about it. I'm just waiting to see what they put in the report, and then I might appeal, I've not decided yet.

IT WAS SORT OF THE BEST THING EVER. A MARK OF NARRATIVE GENIUS.
