You remember that thing with my internet a few weeks ago? Where I got charged £173 for nothing, as far as I could see? I called my internet company to ask about it, and they told me that was a standard call out fee, to fix a fault in the line, leaving me to explain that a) I hadn't had a fault in the line and hadn't called anyone out, b) if anyone had come out, I wasn't told about it, and c) the call out apparently happened on the same day I got the bill. And the bill, I later noticed, was dated 10 days earlier. Anyway, they saw my point, but the problem was it was a direct debit, so the money had already gone out, and it wasn't a charge from them apparently but from BT who had charged them for it, if you see what I mean.
They said they'd wait for the payment to go through and then query it with BT, and I said fine, but didn't hear anything from them. So I called them back yesterday, and explained again that no I had no call out/the dates are rubbish/it's more than £95 anyway, and they checked to see what was happening with it. Apparently, 'querying things with BT', because BT drags their heels about it, can take up to 2 months. Which seems - rubbish, to say the least.
I thought it was okay though, because I have money in my account to tide me over. But looking at it again, and given that £400 goes out at the start every month on bills and rent, that may not actually be the case. Possibly it's the time to cut any unnecessary spending, like food, for a while. But given that I have the internet, a TV, a cinema Unlimited card, and a whole mess of books and DVDs I haven't read/watched yet, that possibly might not be a bad thing.
I still feel like I should complain though. I'm just not sure who to.
