Doctor Who

DEAR DOCTOR, ETERNAL PUNISHMENTS ARE A TERRIBLE IDEA, HAVE YOU NOT READ NORSE MYTHOLOGY? Even if it was quite cool (if cruel), and did your image as a Lonely Storm God no end of good.
The whole episode was quite good. I like how even though the two-parter was sort of about strict patriarchy, it was the Son doing most of the leading. But then it ended up being about how the boys went off and fought (woar is GReat, yaY!), and it was a good thing, so maybe it wasn't so odd. Mostly I liked the Son, but that shouldn't shock anyone. I know I do sort of hamper myself with Doctor Who by liking the villain/minor characters of the week. But he was a scientist! I'd like to hear his stand-off with Martha from the beginning again, too. And I like how his friends didn't say anything about him having gone mad and trying to kill them. Strong bonds of fraternity there.
Also: "There will be a war for every child". What? Are they War? Are they the Children of War? Does Ares know about this? Also, have they met the Slitheen? I think they would get on.
Anyway. It wasn't just him/them. Martha was great in this episode. She totally called John on being rubbish. And saved them. And pointed a gun at the scary aliens, without having been told or encouraged to. And was all 'bones of the hand!' to Joan. She is win. And Joan was great too. I love how she ran off after Martha. Sort of to be classist and racist at her, but other than that she was great. The Doctor was pretty eager to get Joan travelling with him, wasn't he? All 'I love human womans' (Lolwho is contagious). But she refused. She should join Torchwood. I'd watch that spin-off.
Anyway. It was quite good. Not half as much a disappointment as the Satan Pit. And quite good in it's own right. Hurrah.
Today there was an RAF show in the town centre (I could tell Joan about Nottingham), and I sat in a Red Arrow, Cecilia told me to 'get militant', and Doctor Who was about how it is great to fight in wars, unless the Doctor can stop you. Coincidence??
ETA: There was also a programme on the telly about how possibly RAF's mistakes on their plane designs had killed a bunch of people. Um. Yes.
