Randomness
Aug. 14th, 2005 03:20 pmThings that are strange:
Things that make me happy No.s 56-?:
I appear to have caught the AU bug ever so slightly. Right now Francis is a sailor. Soon he will be a knight. Also, I sort of want him to be a vampire slayer. Hmm. Yes.
- The way we tell people about conversations we've had with other people, especially arguments - giving ourselves a very reasonable voice, and others a very high, hysterical, perhaps even insane one.
- Thinking that there was ever a time when I was as small as my nephew, and my parents didn't know anything about me except that I existed and liked to bite things. That there was a time there probably WAS nothing to know about me except that I existed and liked to bite things.
Things that make me happy No.s 56-?:
- Doll house food.
- New batteries in my electric toothbrush.
- News about really good looking future films.
- Action figures! (Mirrormask toys, omg!)
- David Eggers' How We Are Hungry.

Meme!
List five songs that you are currently 'digging'. It doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good. But they must be songs you're really enjoying right now.
Post these instructions in your 'blog' along with your five songs.
Then tag five other 'people' to see what they're listening to.

- Cars and Guitars, Tori Amos - From the new album, recently rented from my local library (it's the place to be, kids!). The first song that's jumped out at me so far, and I like the laid-back angstiness of it. The picture of a relationship falling apart for reasons other than the can't-be-helped ones they tell themselves it did, and being sort of sad about it and sort of okay. Yay.
- I just started listening to my rented The Clash CD, and Lost in the Supermarket seems pretty cool. Time will tell if it becomes an
obsessionfavourite. - I Predict A Riot, the Kaiser Chiefs - Gotta love the Kaiser Chiefs. I sang 'Every Day I Love You Less and Less' for weeks without realising a friend had copied and given me the album. Whoops. But this song is the current favourite. It doesn't hurt that I like to imagine 'fun' fight scenes to it.
- Hollaback Girl, Gwen Stefani - And I feel so guilty about it. I'm meant to be indie/rock girl! I shouldn't like songs involving the lines 'This shit is bananas!'. But I do. Oh well :)
- Jackie's Strength, Tori Amos - Damn
tiniago. I didn't like it that much at first. Then she waxed lyrical about how it was one of her favourite/most moving songs, and I gave it another chance, and figured out some of the lyrics, and...yes. I sing it a lot of the time, to my family's bewilderment/annoyance.

In other news:
- Blue Orchid by the White Stripes is the new song of choice for the Francis/Spangler 'ship (You got a reaction, you got a reaction, didn't you?)...
- I love Adam and Joe. So much. I want icons of Adam in all his costumes. Yes.
- I must not put grapes in the microwave, I must not put grapes in the microwave, I must not put grapes in the microwave...
