girlofprey: (Lost is great)

  • I was slightly an agent of espionage yesterday. You probably won't know about this, as I don't talk about my bills with great regularity, but essentially the address I'm registered at with my power company is slightly different to the one I use for everything else. It's the main road at the front instead of my side street. Anyway, the shop next door to me changed owners while I was living here, and they have a top bit to their shop that opens onto our courtyard, and all of a sudden our block of flat was getting power bills for the New Occupier for Flat Above the building next door to mine, on the same street. Given that I (with some pain) had totally registered with the power company and I knew what my address was, I figured this must be for the shop, even though the top bit isn't a flat, and posted the first bill to them. They posted it back. I went around and gave it to them, they said they didn't have a flat so it must be one of ours, and I explained that my flat was the closest to theirs, and my address was different. They accepted this and took the bill.

This was all a few months ago. Since then, I have given them every bill that came through our postbox, and they accepted it with a smile, and everything was fine. On Wednesday, we were posted a Disconnection Notice for their address. I thought "Shit, what if it really is my address?", but thought no, because I'd registered and I've paid a bill. So I posted it to them the next morning. Yesterday afternoon, I got home to find a big envelope in the post for me with just my flat number and name on it, and inside were all the bills, warrants for disconnection and the disconnection notice they'd gotten over the past few months. So I thought "Right".

I called the mobile number on the bottom of the warrant letter, sadly not noticing the dude had written it on in July. Then I called the Debts Line, but they had written the number wrong. Then I called the General Enquiries line on the bills, gave them my account number, and launched into the story again. They checked out my account, and guess what? I'm fine. But the power company don't have any record of the shop next door changing hands. And their bill is mysteriously split between two addresses. They wanted a way to sort this out with the shop. Did I have the account number on the shop's bills, they asked - no, I did not. Did I have a contact number for the shop?

I may have possibly run down into the street and got them one off the sign.

It feels a bit mean. At this point, though, I also feel a bit like "Sic 'em, boys".

  • A guy also hit on me on the way to the tram stop yesterday. That was quite nice.

  • And I got a call from my agency today, which I assumed would again be them telling me my position was being finished today, because I don't know, I'm rubbish. But it turns out they have a job offer for me after I finish here, with plenty of leeway in case my current people want to keep me a bit longer. The downside is that this might mean I'm out of work for a few weeks before it starts. And it's only 27 hours a week. And apparently I'll be working in the complaints department. But it's actually quite similar to what I'm doing now, and mostly, woot, work! And the guy who is my contact at the new place called me afterwards, to tell me if I was interested, there were permanent positions on the website. For which I thank him.

  • Work has gotten slightly better, also. The woman we work with who is fine but also "helpful" in the most patronising way, was away, and I and the other temp just had a bit of a laugh. I think I also managed to be a bit more efficient while also cold like ice to the people who were being a bit rubbish before, and they've actually been a bit more pleasant and helpful since then. Probably from the pain of my rejection. I can only imagine. Hah.

  • I've been watching a bit of Arrested Development. It's a bit good.

  • Re: tonight's Emmerdale - the writers really are reading my LJ.

  • I've mostly been thinking about Peter Petrelli over the last few days. Especially the way they talked about his powers in Heroes Unmasked.

"You'd better be nice to Peter now, because in a few years..."

    I love Milo Ventimiglia slightly.

Innocent future weapons-of-mass-destruction get to me a bit?

Mostly I want to read fic about Peter and Angela's relationship. Which I'm guessing there isn't a lot of.

  • Supernatural tonight.

  • Possibly a movie about pies tomorrow.

IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL. People didn't quite mention this to me. Except for Sarah. But still. OMG. Michael. On a bicycle. Dude.

Hit on me. Much more pleasant, if still a bit uncomfortable. I do think people shouldn't hit me either, though.

I am kind of impressed with your dobbing-people-in skills. CLEARLY these are valuable for later life. Also, the shop sounds awful-darn-sneaky. Dude.

And work! Hurrah!

OH GOD, I love Arrested Development so much. It is the only TV show I can think of where I don't hate ANY of the characters. Dude! Also, it is the incestiest thing I have EVER SEEN. Yes.

SO VERY INCESTY. Oh God. I'm only up to episode 3, but I'm mostly planning to make my way through the rest of the season. Probably the rest of the show, if I can find it. The only annoying thing is not being able to look at the fic. But Michael is beautiful. And Gob is great. And other people also. So.

I can think of no situation where the ability to guiltlessly dob people in won't come in handy. I HATE THE SHOP SO MUCH. At least they'll think twice about crossing me again now. Um. If they realise I was involved.

I think the shop's more than a bit mean for politely taking in all the bills and things and giving the impression they were on top of it and accepting responsibility and all that and then posting them back to you undealt with. I think that's very much not on. So you win.

What movie about pies?

My thoughts exactly. Especially since it seems like, after three or four months and a disconnection warrant, they never even called the power company. Just decided it was my problem again. Dude.

It's a film I've seen advertised which seems to be about a waitress who's unhappy with her marriage (despite being married to Jeremy Sisto), and sublimates all her feelings into pies. It'll probably be a bit fluffy, but looks interesting. It's called Waitress. And has Nathan Fillion in it too.

Arrested Developed is great :-) I'm mad at BBC2 for not publicising the repeats - I just stumbled over it at half 2 on Monday night - craziness! They always put it on at such poor times ;_;

Ah, see I've been downloading. And now I'm getting the DVDs. One way to avoid crazy scheduling ;)
