American Gothic is just the gayest thing ever. Rewatching the DVDs really only proves this to me. Matt/Lucas may or may not actually be canon.




This is Doctor Matt saying 'degoosdebous' at a party. It's pretty much the best thing ever.




Then he's just sort of...beautiful. He has buttons on his collar. Omg.




Lucas Buck pretends, as ever, to be not entirely in love with him.




And theeen Doreen turns up to talk to them. Note the immediate inappropriate touching of Caleb.




And how completely freaked out he looks.




"At least it's not Gail", he's thinking.

Doreen knows what degoosdebous means. Matt is pleasantly disinterested.

Lucas: 'Step off my doctor.'




"Oh say Doreen, is that your husband? Key word, repeat, husband?"

Lucas likes to make people sad. Also, Matt doesn't get to talk to girls.




Lucas goes off to have sex with the husband instead. Matt: 'Lucas. So obvious. So gay.'




He's a lot gayer in slow motion.




Totally.




For reals.

Matt has nothing to offer but an angsty gay lover stare.




I love them.

Lucas is evil, by the way. Possibly the devil. And Matt didn't choose Trinity. Trinity chose Matt.

This is interesting, very interesting! This helps with a query I was trying to figure out, which was basically 'Has television just suddenly become tremendously slash-tastic or have I only just become slash-aware, developed slashdar, as it were, in the past year?'
I was a big American Gothic fan when it was first on the telly, and I did not detect any slashiness at the time. Yet your pic spam proves that it was there! So, it appears that I have only recently developed slashdar - how interesting! American Gothic is being erratically repeated on ITV2 or ITV3 at some damn awful hour, but one of these nights I'm going to have to tune in to see what I think :-)

Oh, this is late. Sorry. Ahem. Sometimes Matt's UTTER CALM makes me confused about the slashiness as well, and Lucas constantly saying he'd like to kill him. But they keep doing such inappropriate things, like Lucas telling Matt to 'sleep well', and Matt shooting him vaguely sympathetic looks when he's 'won' and Caleb's leaving with him and Lucas is all alone, that it keeps coming back to me. And the fact is, together they would be the BEST parents Caleb could possibly have - and the town would run like a dream (except for the horrible deals Lucas ocassionally has people make. But Matt could probably distract him from that). So I slash them, endlessly. It gives me joy :)

You should totally watch it again. I recently rewatched the entire season with some friends, and still as mind-blowing as ever.

Many people have that reaction. The other one is an angsty, ex-alcoholic doctor who tilts his head rather wonderfully though. You should watch American Gothic. Apparently you can get the DVDs rather cheaply on amazon. Did you ever watch Sea of Souls, that jekesta said she sent you?
