Graduation, Now

I graduated. Check me out.
There was a massive thunderstorm the night before, so thankfully it was quite cool for the/our morning ceremony, in the big black robes. Which were, by the way, more like a coat/cloak. I'd been picturing more Harry Potterish ones, but you live and learn. It was a bit like being dressed as a bat. Oh, and little old ladies helped us put them on! This was rather amusing when my six-foot housemate got to the front of the queue, as well as various other boys.
Then into the hall, where water and souvenir jellybeans were awaiting us, making me happy like a twelve year old. And I wish I'd been more affected or bothered at all about the ceremony, but I sort of wasn't. It took ages to start, and there was some rising and processions, but frankly when you've sat through 400 Catholic masses it's a walk in the park. I giggled a bit at our tiny Chancellor, and wasn't sure what his huge golden mace was for but I loved it. And the former ambassador to China was there to tell us how great we were and get his degree. I got a bit nervous when I got near the stage, but once I'd decided it would be quite hard to slip on that carpeting it was just walking and smiling and shaking hands, and suddenly I had a certificate and was on my way back to my seat. And that was it. Huzzah!
I had some photos taken in my robes with my flatmates, despite the BAKING HEAT, and made all those promises to stay in touch. Hopefully I will. I tend to be rubbish at it, but I'd like to not be with them. And there's always Cuba to bind us together, I suppose.
Today I skived off work, being completely knackered. We stayed on for dinner with my housemates and their parents last night, and didn't get back till 11 or 12, after staying up late on Wednesday as well. I almost overslept yesterday morning - forgot to set my alarm. Only my mystical ability to sometimes get up exactly when I intend to/am used to doing, without alarms, saved me. Also I had a coughing fit at 5am this morning, and blah blah blah blah blah, I didn't think I'd be much use. I sorted out all the masses of stuff we emptied out of the Nottingham house instead. I have somehow magically made it disappear into my room, and I'm not sure how. Ah well.
I also have more books than ever. It's slightly horrific and terrifying. Bookshelves soon, I think.
Anyway. I also watched my recorded episode of Veronica Mars. Oh oh oh oh! Logan lured her into a bathroom and was all 'remember when we had all the sex(/kissing)?'. And when Veronica was there, was deceptively calm but also pointed and obvious about Duncan possibly sleeping with step-Cordelia. I'm shipping them without even properly knowing the characters, which is a first for me! Especially with canonical het! And and the deputy man was abused as a child, and the poor little girl and her mad parents, and OH! I was watching it and thinking that it was good, and pretty, but not something over which I'd 'eee!' BUT THEN I WENT 'EEEE!'.
I want to see Series 1. Like now. Probably I should just bite the bullet and start downloading stuff. But I'm also thinking a multiregion DVD player might not be a bad idea. Like these shiny numbers (ooooh). I can pretty much afford it, after all. And I could probably cope with the tiny screen.

Date: 2006-07-21 09:56 pm (UTC)Oh, V/L is very very. Yes. It's done so well, especially in series one, and yay and I love that you love them, and it is so strange that they are canonical het, because they are also LOVE because Logan is GREAT, but really he is in lLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEE forever with Weevil (the tough biker one), so that's okay and the slash is still sitting happy. YAY.

Date: 2006-07-21 11:28 pm (UTC)I love them slightly and confusedly, but truly. I'm not sure who Weevil. I have gathered from icons he might be the hispanic one who was not happy about Logan killing someone he knew. I will be 100% more impressed if he has a bike, though. Yay.

Date: 2006-07-23 09:56 am (UTC)I went to Catholic school, and high school. We learned how terrible we all are and how to give the sign of peace. Also I thought I was Jesus for ages. I sort of eschewed it in favour of Random Paganism as a teenager, and Nothing as a (sort of) adult. YOU CAN STILL FIND ME SEXY IF YOU WANT, THOUGH.
THANK YOU! :D ::dances intellectually::
