A short update:

  • Eastenders actually managed to redeem itself yesterday. I had seen a clip from the episode while my nephew was here without actually watching it, of Michael telling his dad he was trying to remind him "he had another son", which seemed to be going along with what the people on Digital Spy had said. But it turned out when I watched it that he was actually talking about Anthony (the younger brother who loooooooves him), and even being sort of protective in a detached, psychotic sort of a way. And Michael was still messed up over his mum, and they adequately showed his dad to be the sort of cunt he always seemed to me to be. So yay, really.

It was still weird though. I hadn't watched Tuesday's episode either, so I watched them both together last night, and...the script. It's hard to even describe. One episode included the line, and I quote, "This...this is a hug. You know, when you hold on tight to someone, as tight as you can." APROPOS OF NOTHING. Apropos of Michael's dad telling his girlfriend it was the anniversary of his first wife's suicide. Just after another new character swanned in, went up to a regular character with the annulment papers for his arranged marriage to her sister, and then immediately demanded his wedding ring, so she could sell it. Oh Eastenders. You crazy idiot.

  • I had so much trouble with buses today, so much trouble you wouldn't believe it. I would have a rant about it if could be bothered, but suffice to say, it would be REALLY helpful if buses actually put on the front of themselves where they were actually going. REALLY REALLY helpful.

  • But on the plus side, Becky was in tonight's Coronation Street. Little spoilers )

  • Also, I saw Cowboys and Aliens and forgot to mention it. Mainly, it was an okay film, but a bit blah, kind of good in some ways and kind of terribly issuey in others. But mainly, Paul Dano baby. Oh yeah.

I made myself get up a bit early yesterday and didn't get a lot of sleep last night, and now I just feel kind of tired and sick. BUT, I am still drinking a bottle of cherry coke tonight, as I normally do on Fridays, and I have to get up tomorrow. So that should make tonight and tomorrow morning fun. Hurray.

As I basically expected, I forgot about roughly a hundred things from my list of great things yesterday. Most of them involved Shaun the probation worker in Misfits and my rekindled love of Morrowind. OH MORROWIND. Anyway, another part of the end of year memes I keep seeing around the place involve what you're looking forward to in the year to come. At the moment, for me this is:

  • ED FROM BUGS is doing DANCING ON ICE. VERY SOON. He might well be rubbish. He might go out in the first episode. But before that he will be ON TV, and probably be DRESSED IN SEQUINS, and do some ICE SKATING. Alskdfjskljfh.

  • Misfits Series 3. Still. I do want to see what they come up with. I hope Shaun the probation worker comes back.

  • Seeing Aziz Ansari in London with [livejournal.com profile] cakesy.

  • Single-Handed is coming out on DVD, so I can watch that again.

  • Apparently there is a new Elder Scrolls game coming out in November. Assuming my fancy new laptop, which my dad decided I should totally have for Christmas (thank you dad), has enough Basic Requirements and memory to support it, I am planning to be SO THERE.

  • Cowboys and Aliens. Paul Dano, baby.

I have not heard about anything else great happening in 2011, but I'm at least somewhat open to any further ideas it may have.

We had my nephews, sister, sister's partner and my grandma down again for dinner, and then when they left, the Morcambe and Wise Show of 1976 and then Bryan Dick Eric and Ernie, OH BRYAN DICK I LOVE YOU. BE ON THE TV FOR ME ALL THE TIME. I LOVE YOUR EYES WHEN PEOPLE ABANDON YOU. My main plans now involve playing Morrowind. Those random bandits' caves aren't going to loot themselves.

Happy New Year, everyone!
