Let me tell you about Betty Boop's head
Dec. 27th, 2012 11:34 pmFriends, I want your advice. What would you do with the somewhat fragile, mdf style head of a fairly big Betty Boop statue, if you had one and wanted to get rid of it? I'm trying to clear out my room a bit, and I have this head just sort of on the floor somewhere. I used to have a Betty Boop figure that was quite big, about waist-high. One day, years ago, it got knocked over and smashed, but I managed to get it repaired. But then a few less years ago it got knocked over and smashed again I think, and I just ended up with the head. Or it was when I moved back to my parents', and I didn't really have room for the statue even if it was fixed. But anyway, the statue is gone but I still have the head. And the head is in pretty good condition, it got smashed before, but it was fixed really well and you can barely see the crack. And it's still pretty obviously Betty Boop, and pretty nice likeness of her. But it's not doing anything at the moment besides sitting on my bedroom floor, getting in the way of a drawer. I think I assumed I'd find a use for it or somewhere to put it. But I haven't, and now I just sort of want to get rid of it.
I don't really want to just throw it away, because it is really good likeness of her. But there's a chance having just the head of Betty Boop is kind of a gruesome life choice, and I just haven't noticed, and no-one else would want it. And it's not really sturdy enough to do anything practical with. But maybe someone would want a big Betty Boop head, for free. I don't like the idea of just throwing it away when it still basically does the job it was meant to do.
What do you guys think? Bin? Take a chance on a charity shop? I could always take it back to the shop where the statue was from, and see if they want it. I'm sort of just afraid they'll look at it and then laugh pityingly. What would any of you do?
Also, has the posting page genuinely gone back to the old version, or have I just permanently broken my LJ with that long picspam I posted? The kind of breaking where it's actually quite good?
Also I would like to say that between the new LJ header and the advert on the home page for the urbandecay community, Livejournal has terrified me quite a few times today. I know I keep complaining about design layouts scaring me. Apparently things being FROZEN INTO A SOLID BLOCK OF ICE just freaks me out, and it's for some reason in vogue at the moment.
