girlofprey: (Adrien Brody omg)
So it seems that even as I was complaining about having no job yesterday, an agency was trying to call me while I was away from my phone. I had a bit of a panic that they were going to want me to start today or tomorrow and it was going to make this weekend rather complicated, but it turned out they just wanted some details about where I was and what I was looking for. Apparently they might have a job coming up next week on Tuesday or Wednesday that would last until March, which would be great, if it pans out. Aside from the whole living-on-a-floor-desperately-looking-for-a-flat thing. But it looks like things are starting to move along, which is good.

So this might be my last week at home, assuming I can find more work when it's finished. It might also be my last week with the internet for a while, which is scary. I might have to start writing everyone odd letters. Probably I'll find a place quickly that has wireless broadband, or can have it installed, and my computer won't break spectacularly. Probably.

I'm weighing up watching the rest of Torchwood while I can download it with deleting the only episode of it I've liked so far, since my disk space is apparently minimal. Truly, my life is nothing but pain. I've also been watching more Bablyon 5. That )

Also it turns out that the only bits of Farscape I'm apparently interested in are the season finales with all those John/Scorpius face-offs. Thanks for nothing, Play.com sale.

Most people are working at the moment. I am not. This is of course fine while I can fend off the guilt and until the money runs out, but by that point I think it will be a bit late. It just feels a bit odd to be applying for jobs when I'm also planning a weekend/long weekend in London, since I don't have a job to come back to. Of course after this weekend, when I have nothing to do but look for a job and nothing to look forward to if I don't, THINGS WILL BE A HUNDRED TIMES BETTER. Hmph. I'm complaining a lot. Mostly I just wish I had some sort of assurance that there is a decent job out there waiting for me, if I just look. Oh, and someone to confirm that no, I probably don't want that "fun, flexible!" work-from-home job that pays £24.99 an hour and describes itself in NO OTHER WAY. Hmm. I should probably just go to Nottingham, at some point.

Anyway. Mostly I've been helping with my nephew and watching stuff. I feel the need to point out that the reason I got quite excited about the Settle-Carlisle railway the other day is because I still remember the song they taught us in primary school about it. I don't remember much except the line "From Settle to Carlisle" and that it was about how it was built in winter and how many men died building it, but it was a bit of a pleasant shock to see it suddenly come to life in front of me.

Anyway. Watching. Torchwood! Episodes )

And then I watched the first episode of Babylon 5, which was better! Hurray! )
