<s> Jekesta are the Goddess of the strikethrough </s>!!. Only not struck-through. She are like my LJ fairy godmother!!

Interesting things I have learned today: at the moment, all women between 20 and 64 should have cervical screenings, but on the 1st of April this will change to 25-64 (unless it is an April Fool, omg). This means that if I want a smear test now as opposed to in five years time, I have between my birthday on the 27th March (Easter Sunday, omg, holy!) and then, which is three days, for which I will not be in Nottingham when I'm meant to be having it done. Hmm.

Also, all it tests for is cervical cancer, which is 'nearly impossible' (to quote the doctor) to get without being sexually active. Score one for the virgins! Although she seemed to also be saying it such cancer is virally transmitted, which...seems wrong. Ah well.

Whee, I am going to see two men dance each other tonight! And possibly buy a long-awaited Triple Chocolate Fudge Cookie omg.

Omg Eastenders! I missed most of it, and will miss it tonight, but Andy called Dennis his 'friend'! In official, written-down form! He calls no-one his friend, not even Pat who was super-friendly and gets to live in his house (and sleep in his suits). They were canon it is proof. And next week spoilers )

Hmm, Connotations. Does anyone know how long on average it is to wait before confirmation-type things arrive?

Last night was quite marvellous, as expected. The Crocus Cafe is quite tiny and kooky and cool, and has Chocolate Biscuit Cake, omg! (yes, it DOES deserve capitals). This was the place of the Chocolate Evening, in case you were wondering. I went with my housemate and had a marvellous time. We made chocolate fruit kebabs and marzipan-filled chocolate dates and chocolate icing for buns and chocolate truffle mix. And yes, much of this was just putting chocolate on things rather than actual baking, but I don't care because chocolate, omg. And it was Divine chocolate also, which is much tasty and Fairtrade, so has moral superiority, mwuhahaha.

Housemate and I discussed many things also, like life, and the pros and cons of having boys in said life, and what we wanted to be when we grew up. Hers was artist. Mine was involves sunglasses and a jeep and a crossbow, and Mexico, and possibly El Chupacabra, but I haven't decided yet. And then we went home with our chocolate hoard and spent the evening swapping musical tastes via CDs and tapes on the living room floor. I seduced her to the Kevin Coyne side, and the 'Worry About You' by Ivy side, and possibly the Interpol and System of a Down side. She showed me the glory of Nina Simone and Bjork and old (or 'classic') Tori Amos. Am reserving judgement on Joni Mitchell though, till I hear more of her stuff. But generally the evening was 'yay', and the yay extends even to this cold and miserable day.

Eeee, and our local independent cinema is showing 'The Chorus' all through March!! Because they know it is fabulous! I almost feel vindicated for bastard Total Film giving it 2 stars (teh fuck?). I know it is marvellous. And the cinema knows it is marvellous. Soon you will all know!!

Eastenders report: it was not on last night. And now that the pretty conflicted gangster boys are somewhat dead, I am starting to lose interest. Ho hum.

Gah! Just when I thought I was all caught up with and on top of my reading, The Wife of Bath's Prologue comes along to bite me in the ass. Growl. But I'm still quite pleased today :). My friend from Manchester, Katy J, texted me asking for my address, which means I'll be getting her letter soon, yay! And I'm going to a Chocolate evening tonight (?!), which I'm hoping will involve lots of chocolate. For £5, I hope so! The University Swing Night has been pushed back to a mystery time, though, which is probably for the best, as I have no dancing shoes at the mo. And there's a new edition of Total Film out tomorrow! And it's snowing!! Which does make the walk to uni more treacherous, yes, but - is pretty. And gives us an excuse to keep our stray cat (who is mysteriously covered in soot recently) in overnight, since it is bastardly to put him/her out in the snow. So yes.

Eastenders. ::pokes Pat:: Come on, cry, bitch. Weep for Andy. He wasn't so bad after all! Another problem I have discovered with soap fandoms: no access to previous goings on. I'd give anything at the moment to see the episodes of Andy working under (?) Dalton, and menacing Alfie, and sharing mother issues (?) with Dennis. rambly rambliness )

Sigh. Ah well. Alternative Eastenders shall continue to run wild in my head (minus annoying lady-characters. They can go to a nice lesbian commune by the sea).

Just been looking for shoes on schuhshop.com, but all the pretty ones I like seem to have disappeared :( (taps Schuh). But then again, a pair of shoes I liked in November that were in the Schuh magazine/catalogue were never on at all, so possibly shuhshop.com is simply stupid. Yes. That works.

Last night was strange, but not unpleasant. After declining to go to a curry house with my radio friends because urgh, curry, I somehow ended up in our local pub/cafe thing with all my housemates and Hannah (a boy housemate's girlfriend, who is blonde and lovely and sings in a choir, and will be living with us next year), a never-before-seen occurence. We discussed many topics, fuelled by alcohol and sugar, including Hannah possibly writing an essay on porn music for her Film Music module, and us all living in Sherwood Forest next year and riding horses to campus, which I did not disapprove of. The day I ride a wild stallion down the stairs of my lecture hall, then calmly dismount and sit down, is the day I can die a happy lady (provided I have been to Cuba and seen a wolf for proper by that point).

Jos (a boy, but not Hannah's boyfriend) also mentioned the uni creative writing magazine, which people will not let him join, though it is surely a uni magazine and not owned by no-one. They've only put out 2 issues in 2 years anyway, so clearly need all the help they can get. And are stupid. It reminded me that I keep meaning to submit things to them, which are even half-written, and less than a page long each, which clearly proves my crapness at not even being able to finish them. And now jos wants me to write my Apocalypse, Now parody (Graduation, Now), and words will drown me soon. Yes.

On a lighter, dancier note, there is a Swing Night a week on Monday in Ark. Yay. Swing music and dancing, of course. Not what you are thinking. Certainly not. No. But I've been interested in swing dancing for a bit (aka many years) and it is a mere £2, so possibly it will a marvellous evening. May even pop into the handknitting class too, and learn how to knit myself a scarf. Why Don't U scheme, I love you.

Feet hurt. Hair smells. All the traditional signs of a decent night out :). Unfortunately, 'decent' is the best I will give it, as it was very cold, I kept getting pushed around, and all my friends kept running off to talk to other friends of theirs that I didn't know, which is fair enough but left me alone and bored. Not nearly enough dancing to alternative rock either. Did see a girl who works on the Uni radio with me in Nottingham, though, and also Bombhead from Hollyoaks. He tried to snog my good friend, who always pulls, without even trying. I completely didn't care, but was still a little starstruck when he brushed up right against my back (swoons).

As usual on such nights out, I stayed over at my easily-pulling friend's house, as a taxi back to my town alone would not only break the bank, but stomp it into little bits, and slept in till about 1 o'clock. Didn't get back home till 5, and spent the evening watching TV and admiring the brand new, huge, but as-yet-untrimmed tree in our living room (yay). Grumpy Old Women at Christmas was as hilarious as I thought it would be, and parents thought so too (especially mum - not yet had the pleasure of 'doing Christmas' yet, but recognised so much of it from her life. Presents for kids, presents for mother, presents for mother to give to kids, present for husband to give his mother...)

Eastenders also briefly slashy again, to my delight - Dennis going to Andy for the money he needs to run off with Miss Piggy, and saying 'you know I'm not one for goodbyes'. A touch of history there? My runaway imagination says yes. Nothing beats the One True Love of Andy and Alfie though - they need more post-Kat scenes together.

Only 4 days till Christmas, eek! At this point though, I'm on the verge of making a post-Christmas list, for all the stuff I realised I want giving the parents 'Christmas suggestions'. Everything's pretty much done and dusted from my end, besides the receiving and probably helping out on Christmas day. And the essay writing, of course, although I'm only reading this week. It's part of my plan. Finished the literature essay, all 5,500 words of it - editing will be done. But hey, I've written it. And I've got nothing better to do over the next few days.
