Brrr, it is cold. And rainy. Hopefully it is just gathering sunny strength for tomorrow :)

My friend Katy is so lovely. We watched Shaun of the Dead (omg Shaun/Pete OTP!) and Pulp Fiction, which was good, but maybe a little too cool - I couldn't really get into it. Bruce Willis was good though. And Tim Roth :). Then we ate chocolate muffins and biscuits and watched TV till late into the night. She gave me an Easter Egg from Thorntons with 'Happy Birthday Rachael' on it - my name spelt right even! Omg! Possibly there will be a Monday night of drinking and Bombhead-spotting also. Yes.

New Empire and Total Film! All the signs are looking good for Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but I still not holding out too much hope. The book will remain if the film is a flop after all ::is all zen and whatnot::. No mention of the Sea of Souls DVD release though (growl). But That 70s Show Season 1 is coming out in two weeks! Not that I will be able to afford it! DVDs, why do you taunt me?

Am contemplating getting a paid account and icon spaceage with my birthday money. 3 is not enough. I am not sure how much it will cost though, since it is all mad and in dollars. I think the exchange rate is quite good for us English types at the mo. Hmm. More thought perhaps...

Eee!! Katy gave me a copy of the Killers CD and the Kaiser Chiefs too!! ::loves her omg lots, and you should too!!::

Giving that wind generally accompanies rain, is it really too much to ask for people to build umbrellas that protect us from the first without being dismembered by the second? Or is it simply my unwillingness to pay more than about £10 for a piece of metal and plastic that is holding me back?

Growl.

Sigh. Possibly it is my own fault for actually leaving the house today. Love of LJ becoming a liability. Also, I do not have enough space for icons. This is clearly a cash-ist prejudice of LJ, and I am not amused. Marx would have your heads!

I am annoyed recently. Possibly this is because my life now entirely consists of reading and washing up. And my other option is writing essays. Also I get no letters. From either my friends who tell me they are sending me letters, or from Connotations, to whom I sent £20. My housemates flaunt their bills at me. Not in any discernable way, but still. I can tell.

It is Red Nose Day today, so there will be Green Wing on tonight. But I do not know when, so I will have to watch the whole thing. Growl. I have no money either, since my housemate who pays the electric bill chose to save my cheques for a few months, then cash them all together. And I probably owe her more by now.

Anyway. No. Must remain strong. ::sings a happy song in an effort to try to infect myself with a better mood:: - lalalala la...and so on... Was going over some old files in my laptop last night, while playing around with my Eastenders fic noir idea (which for a brief, fleeting moment, made me happy), and found these. Possibly I will post them elsewhere also.

Fic, of all things, and very long. For 'Giant', a James Dean film only I and two others have ever seen, ever...and they are dead... )

And a review of 'The Chorus' I wrote for the radio, being a French film released today, which is very beautiful, and NOT too sappy or sentimental (::shakes fist:: Total Film! I trusted you!), and which everyone should go see. Everywhere. )

::is going back to sleep now/soon hopefully::

Just started writing a fairly long, rambling entry about my day's doings, and somehow, through the magic of technology, deleted the whole thing in the blink of an eye. Sometimes LiveJournal truly tries my patience. Growl.

Went to Leeds to do reading for (you guessed it) el language essay, but was foiled due to University library being locked. Wandering Leeds campus (not quite the urban wasteland I remembered it - more of a concrete palace) got me wondering what my life would have been like if I had gone there instead of the (lovely (though evil)) Nottingham. Hmm. Ah well. Leeds will always be there in the summer, I guess.

the 'sales' part should give away what happened next... )

Managed to get a hold of The Prisoner, episode one (the series is now only £25 in Virgin), and - Jesus. Freaky and cool and occasionally hilarious all rolled into one (why the Hell was he trying to beat up a bubble? What could it possibly achieve?). I wouldn't mind living in The Village. But then, I don't know anything, so I don't imagine they'd want me :(. It was weird seeing it after actually having been there though - like a really strange deja vu. Definitely going to have to write the Slash Village fic, at some point - everyone would have to wear skintight t-shirts and leather pants instead of crazy cloaks, and the druggings would include waking up next to your assinged shag-bunny/soulmate. Sigh. Am idly contemplating Prisoner slash, even, or the possibility that the whole thing is a gay parable. Just admit it, No. 6! They'll find a number 2 you fancy sooner or later!

Anyway...going back to Nottingham tomorrow, though not for good, as I'd thought. Dad isn't working, so is apparently willing to drive me down, wait for me to get/photocopy library books, and then drive me back again! Can't work out if he is lovely or crazy. We can take some stuff I'm not using down to the house, in any case, so we don't suffocate under the weight of Christmas presents and coats in the car this weekend. I might even nip into Habitat, since the one in Leeds has disappeared (and since when do we have 'Nelson Mandela' gardens? Answer me that!). Then, reading and analysing, which doesn't actually seem like it'll be too hard with modality. Have to crack on though - only a week left! Bye!
