Stuff. And - stuff.

I feel like I have been away FOREVER. This is a complete lie, because it has in fact been a mere 2 days. And 120 entries on my flist. Because I chose not to make the massive (20 minute!) walk to campus to check my email on Wednesday, having no other purpose out of the house, or in general lately. I should really be doing reading for upcoming modules, but I'm at that horrible point when you really don't want to get into new stuff, and probably should have already started. Hmph.
Anyway. To recap:
Monday:
I watched Life on Mars. It was omg good. I'm probably a terrible person for wanting twisted Warren/Sam, aren't I? Sam so very pretty. Drugged, naked, and cuffed to a bed - I too would probably have killed for those photos.
I also watched the Mighty Boosh. After being mystified for a good long while, I decided afterwards it was really quite hilarious and great. And even though I loved Vince, I love Howard more (also afterwards). He is an uptight jazz musician/man of action, who was Dan in Nathan Barley. They already have a slash community, and in joining them I have found a fandom that supports the slashing of uptight jazz musicians with odd green mermen. Two fics. Two. And it's canon! :D
The DVD of series two of the Mighty Boosh will be out before the series has fully aired on TV. Considering I have been waiting a year and a half for the Green Wing DVDs, and will have to wait about a year for Life on Mars, this is still slightly annoying even though it makes me quite happy.
Tuesday:
I was INCAPACITATED by indigestion for about two hours in the evening. At least I hope it was indigestion and I haven't just pulled an intestine. I was torn between worrying about my appendix being about to burst (in my abdomen) or having a heart attack (in my chest), but given that I had been eating rather a lot that day, and then had a tea involving sausages a la Rachael (burnt to just this side of a crisp), I thought probably that was overreacting. When I started debating whether they would emergencarily operate on an appendix straight away, or wait until you had had nil by mouth for long enough, I figured I was probably okay.
Also I had some really creepy dreams. One about Katie (my sister) having cancer, and everyone actually knowing about it and being quite okay with and resigned to it, and mum was going to look after Jack when she died. One about the nuclear power plant (???) near our house having to be shut down, which meant the country/world no longer had any power, lightbulbs or hot water, which meant we had to gather up all the things we needed (I was torn between clothing and books/sweets, because dude, where are you going to find them in a post-apocalyptic wasteland?) so we could flee in the car, rather fast, because my grandmother had called to tell us (and I dream-quote) "They're butchering the old folk and orphans". 'They' being the rampaging mobs formed a mere half hour after the power plant shut down. Yes.
::Worried for brain::
Wednesday:
TOTALLY WENT TO A NICK CAVE CONCERT. It was really rather brilliant. Sometimes I thought it wasn't so brilliant, when he played Tupelo and I was disappointed for some reason, either because it was too much noise or not enough band, or just NOT EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE RECORDED VERSION, WHICH I LOVE. But then he played something else and it turned out I was wrong. He has very skinny legs. And a slightly scary mustache. But he is great. He mostly sat down, but sometimes he stood up, and sang, and did leg-kicks, which sometimes looked a bit rubbish BUT SOMETIMES WERE AMAZING AND 'OMG HOW DID HE DO THAT??'. And he was totally in love with the violinist, and they did swaying and riffing and such. I worried a bit about the violinist, because he kept curling into a ball and Nick asked him if he was alright a lot, but apparently that is just rock musician stuff and I shouldn't worry about them so much.
They played stuff. At first they played stuff and it was slightly normal and then turned into a huge hurricane of noise, with bashing of piano keys and screeching of violins, but SUCH GOOD NOISE. Then he played a lot of quiet stuff, especially in the 'encore', which was very lovely. He especially played 'People Ain't No Good'. J informs me I have to buy The Boatman's Call now, which I SO TOTALLY WILL. I think I liked them playing the stuff I didn't know more than the stuff I did know. Or rather, the stuff I had but hadn't listened to yet, so I knew where to find it. But anyway, yes. Rather brilliant. People kept shouting things out from the audience, and he just mocked/deadpanned them, in an Australian accent. I loved him a lot. Except when one person was all 'play Ace of Spades!', which I think we all enjoyed. We sang along to the 'Oh Mama!' parts in Lyre of Orpheus. And they matched the stage lights to the songs. Blue for Abbatoir Blues, red for Red Right Hand. It was good. And was my first ever music concert, so I can now totally say 'My first time was with Nick Cave'. I bought a Lyre of Orpheus bookmark. I could not afford the t-shirt. I want to learn the violin and riff with Nick Cave, except without curling into a ball sometimes. Yes. Enjoyed. And then K and J and I totally went to the Rescue Rooms and had curly fries, and I was told off for drinking my coke from the concert in the bar. IT WAS A MAGICAL EVENING OF MAGIC.
And
jekesta sent me DVDs! ::loves on her:: And a Christmas card, of BEAUTY. It was like a second Christmas, only with more black. I watched the (Sea of Souls) episode from series two that I never watched, due to my nephew being born, and was delighted at Craig climbing mountains adorably in a plastic windjacket. And he had sexual chemistry with a girl! He totally did! And I didn't even care, because they'd done a paranormal investigation and climbed some hills together, so that's okay. And she was cool, and had a fiance to get back to anyway. But it was so great! Beautifully, beautifully great! They can totally do sex secretly for a while until Wade steals his heart. Yes ::love::
Thursday:
Came home. Well, after packing/watching Malcolm in the Middle DVDs for Francis/Spangler bits, OF WHICH THERE WERE LOADS, and some bondage!Francis. And waiting 45 minutes in a very cold, open-air/tunnel-like bus station so I didn't lose my place in the queue. For which there was no need, because no-one at all got on the coach, despite the hundreds at the stop, eyeing each other warily/hatefully for stealing places in the queue, which there wasn't really one of. You know what I mean. Then I had to wait three hours before I could go for a wee, because the toilet on the coach was a thing of horror, with LITERALLY enough space between the toilet and the sink for my legs, and no more. And I'm not sure if it was broken or this is normal, but the toilet bowl was full of red-brown water, swaying dangerously. And I literally could not do anything in there. I was PARALYSED WITH THE FEAR.
So yes. Am home now, until Sunday evening. Laptop fully attached to the internet, of which I take great advantage. I have downloaded the Divinyls' I Touch Myself, which is simply THE MOST GLORIOUS SONG EVER (for the moment). It goes with every pairing. A person made a new Craig/Wade songvid at
slashysouls! If I knew how to songvid, I would totally songvid Craig/Wade to this song. Does Craig touch himself a lot? It would be THE BEST SONGVID ever if he did. Probably I should stop talking about songvids if I don't know how to make them. BUT IT WOULD BE THE BEST SONGVID EVER.
::abuses the internet:: :)
::dances you all::

And waiting for Warren to be ready. And waiting for Warren to be happy. And Warren playing with his back pointedly to Nick Cave and Nick Cave having to GET UP and walk miles across the stage and stand pointedly with his back to Warren just to make an ever so subtle point. And then Warren fell down and just curled in a ball to make Nick Cave sad. And I want a bare foot violinist of my own. And I LOVE NICK CAVE.
