So. I'm nearly at the end of my week off. I'm not quite sure what I've done with it, but maybe not doing much with it and chilling is exactly what I needed. I wanted to go and see the doctor and talk about my issues at the moment, and I called up on Tuesday - repeatedly - when the same day appointments were released, and still couldn't get one, but I ended up getting a phonecall from the doctor anyway, which is probably all that I needed. And the doctor called back, and I explained what was going on, and he basically said I needed to contact our local mental health service instead. The one I'm already technically with, but maybe they need a bit of an update on the situation. I explained I already had their number on speeddial and he said I could contact them online too. I think online might be better and I've been intending to do it, but I haven't done it yet. I also asked him about taking Vitamin D with my current medication, and he told me that was fine, so I've started doing that.
I've been playing a lot of the Sims. I forgot how addictive the Sims is. You start playing in the afternoon and think "I'll just go on it for a few hours", and then suddenly it's 9pm and you have to go get or make dinner. But I'm playing with my Seeds+Deputy family from Far Cry 5, and LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT A VIDEO GAME ENDING I LIKED WAY BETTER THAN RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2: so the ending of Far Cry 5 is that when you go through every area and beat it and kill all of Joseph Seed's brothers and 'sister' who were running things, he calls you to his main church for a confrontation. And you get there thinking "he's going to fucking kill me", but actually he's just brainwash-drugged some of your friends into kidnapping your other friends, and he's holding them at gunpoint, and he says if you try to stop or arrest him - the whole point of what you've been doing - he'll kill them, but if you stop you can take your friends and 'go in peace'. And then you get to choose whether you take your friends and go - but it doesn't end well because of something else that happened earlier in the game - or you can continue to try to arrest him. Arresting him is clearly the thing you're supposed to do and the 'good choice', and if you do it you have a whole big fight with you and all your friends, but if you get through it you beat Joseph Seed, and you and the Sheriff and all the other deputies get him on his knees and arrest him while he quotes the Book of Revelations, and then when he's on his knees a nuclear bomb goes off in the background. Because he was right about the world being about to end, actually. And then you and all the deputies grab Joseph and throw him in a car and you're racing to try to get to your friend from the beginning's "End of the World" prepper bunker, but on the way there's a car crash and you black out. You wake up and look round to see all your other police officer friends pretty clearly dead, and Joseph nowhere to be seen, before you pass out again. Then you wake up just to see the car door next to you open, and someone in black jeans hauling you out and putting you over their shoulder while humming 'Amazing Grace'. Then you keep blacking out and waking up while Joseph Seed carries you across Dutch's Island while humming Amazing Grace, and finally down into the bunker. Then you wake up handcuffed to the side of a bed, like you did at the beginning of the game, except now it's Joseph Seed standing over you and Dutch is dead on the floor, because clearly, saving EVERYONE he could wasn't on Joseph's mind. And then Joseph Seed gives you a whole speech about how it's the end of the world, and it proves he was right, and you killed his family, and he should kill you for what you've done, but now you're all he has left, so you're his family now, and he is your Father and you are his child, and when the time comes to go out into the new Eden you'll go out together, and march to Eden's Gate together. And he's shirtless while he says this, because he almost always is, and you get an achievement called 'TOGETHER FOREVER', and it is amazing.
And now the new game's coming out, which is set after the end of Far Cry 5, which pretty much proves it wasn't all some hallucination he forced on you, no, whether or not he gets his messages from God he certainly can see the future, and was right. And I assumed there was just some backstory about what happened when he came out of the bunker and it wasn't a new Eden, and you found tapes about it or something and had to figure out what happened, but no, he's actually a character in the new game, running around, leading another commune and seducing another main character. And what happened to the Deputy, where is the Deputy, how are they going to account for that when they let you make your Deputy ANYONE? There are some theories that one of the companions in the game who always wears a mask might be the Deputy, but secretly I hope you get to the end of the game and things aren't going well against the new Bad Guys, and so Joseph is like "Right. Time to bring out the BIG GUNS". And knocks on a door somewhere, and you hear someone get up, and that's it. But we'll see. I CAN'T WAIT.
So I'm back into it, and I'm playing The Sims 4 instead of just writing fic or something which probably isn't a good idea, you can't easily do a slow burn, unspoken romance in The Sims 4, and you can't actually be super cult-y, the maximum number of people in a house is 8, and the maximum number of people in a 'club' is also 8. But when I grow pomegranates and make them perfect, and the Seeds are giving the Deputy those as a gift, it will be SUPER MEANINGFUL. Also I made a puppy. So that was cool.
I also intended to go buy some new work shoes, by buying the same pair I currently have again if they're still in Clarks'. I went in yesterday, and they are, but as they're quite an old style now they don't have a lot of availability in terms of different sizes, and I couldn't remember if I'd gotten Wide Fit or not. So I went home and said I'd look at exactly what I currently had in terms of fit and size, and then decide what to get in terms of a new pair of shoes, since there's a similar style Clarks are cycling in instead. So far I haven't looked at my current pair of shoes to make sure of any of that. So I've done a bit towards it, but not done it entirely.
So that, sleeping in and getting up late, has been my week.

Date: 2019-01-26 05:46 pm (UTC)I am also playing The Sims 4, which I like a lot, but it is annoyingly glitchy for me, so I often have to close it down. It's probably for the best, it does stop me spending my entire life playing it.

Date: 2019-01-27 11:51 pm (UTC)Oh, the glitches are a nightmare. Especially when it take sims so long to do anything anyway. It does not take half an hour to eat a bowl of cereal, I thought you said that was a 'quick meal'. So when they just stand there frozen because their AI can't figure out how to go to a new activity quickly, and you realise they've been doing that for an in-game hour and they're tired now, or the game thinks they're at work and they're not, and you can't get them to do anything, it can be MASSIVELY FRUSTRATING.
