girlofpreyI went to see Aquaman today. Is there any feeling comparable to sitting and sitting and sitting through adverts before a film is on? I think not. But anyway, I really liked it. I know I like all the DC films, but I thought it was good. Mostly for the world-building and the tragic family dynamics than the main story really, but I still thought it was good, and really pretty. Like more than most genre/comic book films try to be these days. And Patrick Wilson was unexpectedly in it! And Dolph Lundgren apparently, although I don't think for very long. I'll have to check imdb for who he was, but it was a nice surprise. And yeah, it was a nice film. I hope it takes off. It was that really nice balance between taking its themes seriously and having ridiculous touches that makes for a really fun fandom. But we'll see. And it's not like I'm into fandom that much anymore. But you never know. And I liked almost every character in it. Especially Mera, and [spoiler] and [spoiler].
Mostly I came out of it transposing quotes from Edwad Emberpants onto it, in a crossover I call Arthur Waterpants. A better person would make a blog to that effect, and take screenshots, and make captioned pictures. But I'm just going to chuckle over it.
Also I finally went to Guarma in Red Dead Redemption. It's still not over, and they took all my weapons and most of my items away, and the dude at work who loves to spoiler me said it doesn't take very long (which I assumed), but I also assumed they wouldn't give you open world stuff to do with it since I'm guessing you can never go back there after you leave, and now there are parrots to study that I don't think you can study anywhere else, and I do like to fill in all the gaps in my Compendium, so now I feel like I'm going to be spending more time on this island than I really want to, just to make sure. Which is frustrating. But other than that it's going swimmingly. Arthur still keeps having awkward, tense arguments with his father figure too, and seeing him do awful, violent shit and clearly being unsure about whether he should be following him anymore, instead of them loving each other and maybe banging. But that's great too. Hurrah.
