Hello! I am here. And in Nottingham. Which is here. Yes. Hurrah!
We have no internet yet, but Jos has sorted it and it is apparently coming in 10-12 days (though I've fallen for that trap before). At the moment I am on the uni computers, since the computer rooms are all thankfully open for International Week. But when ours comes it will apparently be wireless and cost a mere £10 a month, and in doing it we have ended up with a nearly free phoneline, for which Jos bought a phone, so now we have a phone! I will, if you like, give you my phone number. And my mobile perhaps. And then you can call me, or I can call you. And say 'hello!'
I am mostly loving my new house. My room is the smallest, but I still prefer it to all other rooms, even if I can't quite plug my printer in with my other computer things properly. But it's not working anyway, so I'm not that bothered. Also I have no bedding, since I only have the one set from home and they need washing. So I'm sleeping in a sleeping bag, and I love it so much I may do it forever, and just make the bed up for when mum and dad come around, so they don't cry. I have not managed to take a shower in the bathroom yet or cook in the kitchen (I ordered pizza with money I don't have! Hurray!). But Kathy and Jos are here, and we watched Flight of Dragons on my televideo, and Jos will never doubt our recommendations again, and I've got them both to close the toilet seat when they flush so we don't get bacterial spray on the toothbrushes, and it's just generally very good.
In the absence of getting Kathy a ticket to Serenity (tonight, yay!), I took her to the press showing of Land of the Dead. Missed the beginning, as usual with press showings, but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the beginning part with the raids and scariness and John Leguizamo on a motorbike more than the rest, with its a little too blatant social satire and 'omg, heroics!', and clearness that John Leguizamo was going to die.
Things that scared me: a) the zombies, b) the Dead Reckoning, c) Kaufman. Although he was also hilarious ('omg, get down' *bang* :D)
I think I like horror movies because they have danger and 'killer' lines and random shocking violence. I think I hate them because they kill the people I love!!! Cholo! Cholo, Cholo, Cholo! He of the pretty eyes and slightly obnoxious character. When I read articles about the film, I envisioned him more honourable and less terroristy. Also, Cholo: Where were you going to spend the money? Where were you going to go in the upid roofless truck? I like your chest, do more pull-ups. Hmm. I think he could easily have survived and self-servingly got in the huge truck with Riley, and survived, and had slash with Riley, or sex with Slack, or possibly a post-apocalyptic OT3 with Riley and Slack. Anyone who writes me any of these things wins my love.
I considered the possibilities of zombie!Cholo/Big Daddy slash. The phrase 'the world needs more erotic zombies!' occured. Possibly we can pretend this thought didn't exist.
But actually, the more I think about it, the more Riley annoys me. He started out well, and world-weary, and good with shooting, and sarcastic (when he was with Cholo...), but then by the end he just went into the realms of fantasy. I save mentally disabled people who magically turn out to be crackshots! And hookers just because! And don't have a tragic past, EXCEPT THAT I DO!!! And go back to save a city on fire and besieged by zombies! And want to go and start a new land in the North! Let my people go!!!
But other than this, enjoyed it, yes. Scary zombies and John Leguizamo. Thumbs up.
Am trying to get sorted for Connotations. I think I have enough money to pay the rest of the hotel, which should be done within five days of going, was it? I had a dream last night that I didn't do it in time and had to leave after the first evening. I think. Also
tiniago was there in a red dress, holding a young baby. But she looked about 35 so I don't think it's my psychic powers at work. Also attempting to get a train ticket to go with my student railcard, but there's something about having to change somewhere and Virgin changing their fares, so I have a number to call ::not worried about this at all...:: I think I can get there for 12 on Friday though. It'ssocloseomghurrah!!
See you soon ;D
