So. I have had my week off, and I really enjoyed it. Although I think it's quite hard to not enjoy time off, when you have it. But I did all my Christmas shopping - the last bit got done yesterday, while I was in Leeds. I nearly upset the apple-cart this week, because I was pretty much done except for my MN, who I was just going to get a new football. I knew I was going to an outlet retail park near me this week anyway, so I just went into Sports Direct while I was there, and had a look for one. There was a basket of footballs near the door, which were all £4 each, but they weren't great and didn't bounce very well. So I went looking for better ones, found another basket of balls 'on sale' but which didn't have prices on, which were much better. I found one I liked, went to buy it, expecting it to be about £10 or £12 maybe. But it was £17.99. I still bought it, because I really liked it, but at that point I'd spent quite a bit more on my MN than my ON, and it's not like they're going to know exactly, but my ON has complained quite a bit about how my MN is really badly behaved (smashing things, hitting teachers, etc - he has behavioural problems) and still gets lots of treats and things bought for him, so it made me feel kind of bad. There was another thing I'd been looking at to get my ON though - I was choosing between it and what I actually got him - so I figured I'd just get him that as well. But, it was in a store in Wakefield, and I didn't have time to go back to Wakefield before Christmas. But, it was a Pokemon thing, so I figured other stores might have it. But, I couldn't remember any big toy stores in Leeds that might. But, then I remembered Forbidden Planet, which almost always has all that geeky/licensed stuff. And I went there, and I found it and I bought it, hurrah.
Which just left my mum, but I decided to get her some Chanel No 5. It is kind of a very standard gift, in a way, but she's really difficult to buy for, and she deserves something special. And she's a bit of a glamour puss at heart. So I asked my dad it he wanted to go in for it with me, since it's massively expensive, and I would feel weird if I got her something way more expensive than anyone else had got her, or that I'd gotten for anyone else. I got it yesterday, so that's all good. The only problem is that they offered to giftwrap it for me, at the Chanel counter, and I said yes, and now the wrapping has 'Chanel' all over it, which I should have expected really. But I would it to be more of a surprise than that, so I don't know if I should undo it and wrap it again. Which would be a bit of a waste.
So that is all my Christmas shopping done. What I should probably do now is wrap it all this week, since I have it all, rather than leaving it until next weekend, and having to spend some of my Christmas eve wrapping instead of just enjoying it (like I usually do), and risking running out of wrapping paper. But I am tired so I probably won't.
But it was a good week. I went to the ballet, and I went to see Justice League again (I still love it), and we had my YN's birthday, which was a bit of a strain frankly, but I bought him a tiny thing of lego, and he was completely enamoured with it. Every time we put a new block on he ran around showing everyone. So that was lovely. And I went to my ON's school pantomime, which he wasn't in, but which was a lot better than I thought it would be, and I caught some sweets thrown at the audience for the first time ever. I considered giving them to the child behind me who nearly took all the skin off my wrist trying to grab them too, but for a while I wasn't sure if it was a child and not just a jerk adult, and then at the end of the show they were gone before I could turn around. So I just ate them instead.
And I played some The Sims. Clark and Lex have a kitten now, because Lex is the worst and got super jealous and annoyed at how much time Clark was spending with the dog and how close they were, so he adopted a kitten one night while Clark was out, and left most of what it did for Clark to clean up. I have many storylines for them, if the game will co-operate. They have both been abducted by aliens now, which is apparently a thing that happens whether you're a scientist and mess around with satellites or not, but neither of them are pregnant so far. Phew. Also I have started Bloodborne, because I have decided to destroy myself. It's a good game, though.
Back to work this week. But only for a week, and then it's Christmas, and then a short week, and then it's New Year's, and then another short week. Hurrah.
Other things:
I have a CD of Christmas music I started listening to halfway through writing this post, which made it really hard to concentrate, so if any of it suddenly stopped making sense, I apologise.

Other things:
- I do wonder when people will ever notice that they are massively glamourising women being as barely-dressed as possible, next to men who are as completely dressed as possible.
It's something I notice a lot in video games, and the Blurred Lines video obviously, but apparently it's everywhere else as well. I hate adverts. - Most of the time: 'Tumblr is the worst.'
When you find that one tag: 'Tumblr is the best!'
For me right now that tag is the 'Justice League' tag, which is just full of people who enjoyed Justice League, and love the cast, and hate Joss Whedon. Currently they are judging the fact that the Rotten Tomatoes critics gave JL a really low score, but the RT audience scores are really high (around 80%), while the same critics gave The Last Jedi a really high score, but the audience scores for it are really low. I haven't seen The Last Jedi and have no idea if it's good or not - it sounds like it has some things in it that I would really enjoy - but I like people pointlessly defending Justice League anyway. - I'm trying to think of things I've enjoyed for the Slashies this year, and it is SLIM PICKINGS so far. There have been some bright spots though, but mostly it's just making me think of all the things I hated this year that most people enjoyed. IT? The IT film? Fuck off!
- I really fucking love ballet, and I should go more often.

Date: 2017-12-17 03:52 pm (UTC)That is irritating about the Chanel wrapping. Maybe if you have any wrapping paper left at the end you could double wrap it, if that wouldn't be a waste.
Tags where everyone hates Joss Whedon sound awesome.

Date: 2017-12-17 05:10 pm (UTC)I need to double-check the wrapping, because it definitely says Chanel on the ribbon, but the actual paper might be plain white. I didn't get much of a look at it before they put it in a Chanel bag, with another Chanel ribbon tied around the top, where it currently is. I think that might be a bit of a giveaway.
They hate him so much, and it is delightful. He's slated to do the Batgirl film next. ::throwing up noises::

Date: 2017-12-19 11:08 am (UTC)It's so lovely. My favourite part was when they hated him before the film even came out for things they thought he might do, and then it turned out he actually did do them. Fuck Joss Whedon.
