I worry sometimes I talk to the kids in a way that's a little bit too old for them.

For example, my YN's down at our house at the moment. He turned three last December. He gave me a fire engine to play with, and he had an ambulance, and he told me to drive them off to the 'fire'. And I just thought "oh fire engine and ambulance, yeah". And then I started talking about the 'family in the house on fire'. To which he gave me a very odd look.

Possibly not very age appropriate.

Still not as bad as the time I was trying to entertain my MN while watching a nature documentary, asked him if he wanted to see some crocodiles, and accidentally let him watch an antelope getting ripped apart. I still sometimes worry about him turning into a serial killer possibly because of that.

Need to consider some of the things I say to the kids a little more.

lol that's funny!

I think kids like it when you talk to them like an adult. So you're talking to them on equal footing and not making baby noises! I don't do it all the time, haha but sometimes I do talk normally like I would an adult (appropriate topics of course!) and they think it's hilarious!

I would probably stay away from showing animal shredding though haha.

You know I was thinking about it, and for my birthday we went to a wildlife park where a park worker fed meerkats what were very obviously dead mice, in full view of a bunch of children. So maybe it's way less of a big deal than I thought.
