I went to see Kung Fu Hustle with friend Sam, hurrah.

Basic plot: There are gangsters in China. There are bums like (Tony Chow's character), who want to be gangsters. There are poor people who generally get left alone by the gangs, but not always. But when the biggest gang of all, the Axe Gang, pick on the poor people of Pig Sty Alley, they discover that poor people ocassionally turn out to be martial arts demons in disguise. Hilarity and insanity ensues.

I liked it. It was random and mad, but I liked it. It went a bit weird at the end, and Tony Chow(?) became spiritual and clean-shaven instead of lovely and cynical with a beard. He was a lockpick-demon, omg! Most upsetting scene=when child!Tony Chow was weed on by the bullies, omg! I couldn't believe that scene! And then they showed it again! But I did like it. It took the piss out of lots of Kung Fu movies and Western movies (see if you can spot them all!), which was funny, and was a bit cartoonish a lot, which was weird and surreal, and didn't make much sense (no, the landlady is not a martial arts expert - she can just run bloody fast!). But all the characters were good, and had drama! in the midst of insanity. The first three martial arts masters omg! OT3 liek woah! Second most upsetting scene=the death of 12 Kicks of Tam/the coolie ::sniff::

I love the landlady also. She kicked arse. She are my hero forever ::does the Lion's Roar!:: And lollypop girl :D

And there were damn good fight scenes as well, of course. And just general set pieces. And Tony Chow=hot liek woah! Also, I must learn the Buddhist Palm technique. Beatrix Kiddo would have been done a lot earlier if she'd had it, I think :D

'Being ordinary is a blessing' is perhaps my new life motto.

And I probably shouldn't have liked the dancing axe killers. But I did ::shame::

ETA: For all of the above, read Stephen Chow. I was getting mixed up with Tony Cheung. Who is also hot. Yes.

Now I want to write 'American Gothic Hustle'. Wherein it turns out that Selena is actually a kung fu expert. And so is Matt. Just in time for a kung-fu smackdown with some nasty out-of-towners. And Lucas will just be generally confused. Yay :)

And also: daleks, yay!!
