So. Snowmageddon, eh?

In other news, shortly after posting my list of 'things that have vaguely gone wrong lately' last night, my laptop suddenly crashed to the blue screen of death and then rebooted itself. I have a sneaking suspicion this is to do with Steam, which kept giving me messages thanking me for testing a beta I don't remember agreeing to test, and telling me it needed to restart my computer to complete this test. But on the other hand, an hour or so before the computer crashed the screen suddenly went black and then came back on again, with a little message saying the display driver or something had temporarily failed. And the other week my computer downloaded some updates, and then when I turned it on again it wouldn't display my desktop. The screen was just black. It let me Ctrl-Alt-Delete and use the Start menu though. And when I turned it off and then on again it was fine.

But anyway, my point is that just in case my laptop is on it's way to imminent death or screen failure or something, I have spent most of the night formatting my external hard drive and then backing up my important files all over again. For some reason my hard drive needed to USB sticks - and needed to use both of them - to do so. So I have spent the majority of the evening browsing the internet without a mouse. I have never been so happy to have my mouse back.

I sincerely hope my computer doesn't crash and die anytime soon.

Also, next week it is my birthday, Easter, the weekend the clocks go back and April Fool's Day. So that should be a fun week.

If I was you I would maybe try a system restore to as far back as you can be bothered? It's usually genuinely helpful with driver type problems and if Steam is causing trouble it should deal with that unless it's something really really nasty.

I very much hope your computer doesn't die and crash.

I have absolutely no idea how to do that, which is probably a bit pathetic. But I shall ask my dad about it, thank you. I will ask him to show ME how to do it, rather.

(I'm trying really hard to remember the nursery rhyme or whatever the "crash and die! (crash and die!)" rhythm comes from, but all I can really remember is "drop and roll, drop and roll").

System restore is the only thing that kept my old computer alive for the last year or so. It's quite a simple thing, windows basically does it for you. But if you do it and then it goes horribly drastically wrong you're not allowed to hate me. Please.

You basically get to choose a date and 'restore' your computer to how it was then. Back when it was healthy, hopefully. You'll lose any programs you've installed since then, or the updates to them, but it should protect your documents and files. And if you've backed them up anyway then that's doubly safe.

I have no idea of this nursery rhyme of which you speak.

My computer has not had any screen problems, or crashed and died, for a few days now so I'm hoping it's all fixed. I can't imagine how annoying it would be to have my computer automatically update all my programmes again for no reason. But if the problems continue I will bear it in mind.

Isn't there a well-known song or rhyme that "duh duh duh! (duh duh duh)" rhythm comes from? I feel like there is. No answer is forthcoming from my brain though.
