ALSO IT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE ANY SENSE. The woman, Jenny, is supposedly helping Frank because she thinks he's the "gentlest person she knows" except when he talks about Carla, and wants to help him get revenge for Carla 'lying' about having been raped. But then she's quite happy to giggle and make fun of Sally and the fact Frank's cheating on her. Which...what? Does that sound like something a 'gentle' man would do? Wouldn't it sort of suggest that he doesn't really think much of the women he dates, and is happy to betray and hurt them, and just get rid of them when they're no more use to him? Which, coupled with the fact that he's been accused of rape and attempted rape by two women, both of whom tried to have him prosecuted for it, might at least have warned her off that maybe he's not all that nice, and not everything he seems? And WHAT?
Like I say, I haven't really been watching it all the way through, and when I was watching him with Jenny tonight I just assumed she didn't know he was seeing Sally. I didn't know she was actively going behind her back with him and laughing about it. It's just ridiculous. I mean, I know that rapists get away with it, and people often think they're 'nice guys'...but surely actual accusations and the other terrible ways he treats women would at least give people a clue, rather than just happily going along with him. I've never been entirely impressed with this storyline, I didn't like how they mixed it in - pretty inextricably - with a high-profile affair. It seemed to me like they were sort of sensationalising it, a bit. Or just being happy to use it to make the affair plot more dramatic. Or...I don't know. I didn't like it. But now it's just like they're making Frank into a SUPERVILLAIN, who can fool anyone he chooses, and no matter what he does none of the people (women) around him have a clue. And it's funny that it does all seem to be women sticking up for Frank. In all the frequent or infrequent times I've watched it, I don't think I've seen any men sticking up for Frank, or saying 'things probably just got out of hand', or 'she's making it up' or something. It always seems to be women. His mother, Sally, Jenny. Stella and Leanne, slightly more disturbingly. I could be wrong though. And I can't really remember what people said when the storyline started.
Hmph. I don't know. Like I say, I'm only really watching it on and off, but I am actually interested in how the storyline turns out. And I genuinely want things - or SOMETHING - to turn out right for Carla. But it's really hard to watch at the moment. And I'm not sure they're handling it that well. I hope Sally starts telling people he raped Carla, he was supposed to tell her tonight, and he didn't exactly even though he implied it. But it would be nice if she at least started spreading THAT around so people would at least stop accusing Carla of lying. And maybe showing some actual sympathy to the rape survivor, instead of putting her through various other trials or staying silent so as not to get on the wrong side of Frank. I just...ugh. It would be bad enough if it was even realistic (outside of Carla's reactions), or made any logical sense at this point. But it's not even doing that. Ugh.
