Well. It's odd after complaining how much I didn't like it when they make Becky seem just mad, how much I loved it when she just went nuts with a sledgehammer. To be completely honest, if they're never going to give her a sword, a sledgehammer is really an almost as good substitute. And if the writers of Coronation Street decided they wanted to let Becky and the sledgehammer rule over the street, then I WOULD NOT STAND IN THEIR WAY.

A lot of things were a bit weird about last night's Corrie. Like no-one stepping in to stop Becky when there were quite a lot of men standing around watching while she broke the door down. That one's sort of plausible though, because she can get pretty scary when she's mad and she was hefting a sledgehammer around at anyone who tried to stop her. Then there was Steve, not bothering to tell her that HE was the one who had called Social Services - for quite a while really - until she literally actually nearly assaulted or tried to kill Tracy. That one I understand a lot less.

My favourites though, are probably the parts where John ran off with Hope and the nurse in the hospital room just talked into her radio instead of running after him, or even shouting for anyone in the hall to stop him. And the part where John wandering around the hospital in a white coat, holding a baby in a blanket, didn't arouse any suspicion at all. My mum works in a hospital, and I asked her how many doctors there just wander the corridors holding babies. "None", she said. And yet.

And of course, John falling many many stories from a building, clearly bleeding quite a lot from his head, and not only managing to get up and get away - the fact that apparently, even though there was a chance he might still be alive, no doctors or paramedics rushed out to check on him, and the police didn't even maintain visual contact with the body until someone on the ground floor got to it and secured the area, or whatever. Giving him plenty of time to get up and walk away, without being noticed.

Other things of note: Becky's beautiful screaming, and clear conviction that they just weren't getting Max back anyway; Tracy not being a smug git at Becky, for once; Becky nearly braining Tracy with what looked very much like a metal statuette, if that was a shoutout, hurrah; and Kylie claiming that she loved her son, with believable anger, but not really any other emotion that I could see. Hmm.

I braved the DigitalSpy forums eventually, to see what they had to say. There's quite a lot of hatred for Becky on there, and some slightly odd language describing her. And quite a few John Stape supporters. But at least a couple of people saying they'd lost a lot of sympathy for him this week, or saying that he bored them more than anything, hurrah. One comment in particular though mentioned David 'obviously getting off on all of this'. I don't know if they meant enjoying it, or 'getting it all down', but if they meant getting off on it, then MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY. I'm sure he genuinely videoed Becky's rampage to show to social workers, and certainly not to keep hidden away in his bedroom and watch when he's alone. Definitely.

And you know, the way a lot of the characters on the street judge and hate Becky is awful on it's own, but it probably wouldn't rankle so much if they weren't just also massive hypocrites. I know Dev has never stolen from a shop during a disaster that killed people, but he has messed up quite a lot of people's lives with affairs and stuff. Tracy is an actual MURDERER. It's really not that long since David had his own rampage on the street. And he did almost accidentally kill his own niece once by accidentally giving her ecstasy tablets. Also, the storyline seems, at the moment, to be neatly sidestepping the fact that Kylie is pretty much the reason Becky can never even have adopted kids of her own, after the statement Kylie made about her. I know that's not really the point when it comes to custody of Max, but still, it's funny it hasn't been mentioned again.

Hmm. Much as I love Becky being horrific and glorious, I'm not really sure where the storylines for her are going to go from here (except probably badly). Well, I kind of know a few things, because I spoilered myself a while ago. But it doesn't look good anyway. I'd be suprised if Tracy doesn't press charges against Becky at some point, or try to use it as leverage against Steve in the battle for custody of Amy (and given that it probably wouldn't have happened if Steve had owned up earlier, she might sort of have a point), and it seems like having Becky living with him still after what she did wouldn't look very good in a custody battle either. And getting Max back is probably off the cards now. Although Becky seemed to be expecting that anyway, even before she went after Tracy with a sledgehammer. So chances are she wasn't expecting to be fighting for him anyway. So I don't know. I presume Becky and Steve aren't going to stay together though, and she'll go and live with Roy and Hayley again, maybe. If there's even any room now, what with Roy's mum staying there. Hmm. We'll just have to wait and see.

Well. I've pretty much enjoyed this week of Coronation Street, even with it's occasional lows, anyway.

Also, some Emmerdale news! Once again, I'm barely watching Emmerdale nowadays. I really don't like the Marlon, Rhona and Paddy triangle, especially the Rhona and Paddy parts, and I don't like how the gay storyline went sad, and then got worse, and apparently isn't getting better anytime soon. Debbie's gone a bit weird, both in terms of how she looks and how she acts, and they seem pretty content with having Carl just be a weasel and a punching bag nowadays. The only thing I really enjoy about it is Nicola being BEAUTIFUL, and to see that you generally have to put up with Kelly being awful, really really awful, and Jimmy either being daft, or being put in a really terrible position.

But! According to Digital Spy, Lyndon Ogbourne is possibly in talks to return as Nathan Wylde! Which I probably would totally tune in for if it happened, even though I'm not as confident that the writing for him would be as good at the current moment. I feel a little bit ambivalent about him coming back, to be honest, mostly for Lyndon Ogbourne's sake. Because it's not that long since he left, and he wanted to 'try new roles', and the only thing I heard about him possibly being in didn't seem to come off, so I worry it's because he's not getting work elsewhere, or that people will say that if he does come back. But I don't know how much work he's actually been doing, and he was always enthusiastic about coming back to play Nathan at some point, and doing it while Cain and possibly Declan were still around. To be honest, I wondered about them maybe bringing Nathan back a while ago, because all of Declan's family are leaving the soap, and I wondered if they'd want to bring Nathan back to give him something to do. Either way, I'm not complaining though, and if Nathan comes back to get revenge on or have storylines with Declan or Cain, so much the better!

Nothing's been said for definite though, but I'll keep looking for further news.

Also, I'd like to tell you that in the end I just gave up and decided to open the MP3 player and start using it. I've been gearing up to buy it for a while, and the one from the website wouldn't come for at least 3-5 days, and I'm going on holiday in two weeks, so I don't really want to be messing about or possibly missing the return date. And it's only £10, and I didn't go to the cinema this week, so it probably evens out. I'll probably be annoyed if I have to pay for another customs charge on some Threadless t-shirts though. Growl.

The only problem now is that I've plugged it in to charge, and the only user's manual I got is a tiny booklet that explains what the buttons are for, so I'm not really sure how I'll be able to tell when it's charged. Hmm.

I want to go check if So You Think You Can Dance is on now. I don't think I ever said how sad I was about Charlotte going last week. It's really kind of a shame that the first week she wasn't with Matt, she got pretty bad comments for pretty much all her dances, and then got sent home. But I could kind of see some shortfalls in her dances compared to some of the other girl's dances. I have decided that Matt is my favourite now. Especially after that boys' group dance. With Kirsty coming in probably second. And Lee B probably in third. Ironically, I decided I quite liked Bethany Rose last week, for the first time, while she was doing her hip-hop dance, which the judges hated. I get the feeling Katie will win though. Partly because she's a really good dancer, partly because she's quite pretty, and partly because she's been pretty popular all the way through. I'll still probably be watching until the end though (or until all my favourites go, if that happens, I guess).
