I'm having a bit of a conundrum at the moment. I decided to go get that MP3 player from WHSmith yesterday, while I was in Wakefield, and I decided to get the 8GB one, since it was only £10 more than the 4GB one. But it turned out even though they had the boxes, they didn't have the 8GB ones in the store, or not in the colour I wanted anyway. I decided I'd try in my local store today, and then decided to see if they had any in the online store or if they'd sold out there or something. But the online store has what looks like the exact 8GB one I wanted, in the right colour, for £10 less, and with free delivery. I couldn't be sure it was the exact one I wanted, and didn't understand why the price was different though, so I figured I'd at least go check out if my local store HAD any. And decide if I wanted to just avoid the hassle and buy one while I was there. Sadly though, the only way you can actually check if they have any is by taking the box to the till (since the boxes themselves apparently mean nothing), at which point it felt a little awkward to not buy one. And it felt a bit easier than worrying if the one online was even the one I wanted anyway. So I bought it.
But now I've got it home, and looked on the online store again, it's pretty obviously the same one, for two different prices. So I don't know now whether to take this one back and get it from the online store, or order one from the online store and wait till it comes and then make sure it REALLY IS the same one and then take the more expensive one back, or just to stick with the one I've got. For the sake of £10, it feels like both too much hassle to do it, and a bit daft NOT to do it. Also, I have the expensive one NOW. I don't know. Hmph.
It probably wouldn't be so annoying if I hadn't just had to spend an extra £12.14 on my first (of possibly many!) customs charge for a Threadless package. Growl.
Anyway. Horrible Histories is still back, OH I LOVE HORRIBLE HISTORIES. They aren't probably that good at women, looking at some of the recent episodes, and they also appear to have added a new person to their regular line-up, and that person is also white and male. But largely it's very good.
And then there's Coronation Street. Well. They went back to their slightly weird Becky characterisation last night. I don't know. I guess they don't want her to be perfect, and I know having weird meltdowns is part of her character, and obviously it's hard losing someone you thought of as your child. But sometimes when they do it she just seems kind of mad, and I don't think it sits very well with the rest of her character. And it's just little things, like if she'd said 'I'm going to see my boy', instead of 'I'm going to get my boy' (my emphasis), when she knew she couldn't, and it would only harm her chances at getting him in the long run. I don't know. It just grates a little.
Her earlier breakdown was pretty spectacular though, when she seemed to have turned into a zombie killing-machine. Harry Hill has already made the 'Robot Becky' joke, but sometimes I genuinely wouldn't be suprised if Becky turned out to be PART-TERMINATOR. And Steve actually being upset about Max being taken away and acting like he really thought of him as his son was lovely as well. As it always is, when they decide to do it.
Other things of note: Kylie showing about as much enthusiasm as ever over trying to get Max back. I don't know, if she's supposed to really genuinely want him back and just not really think Social Services will let her, I wish they'd show us some of that sometime soon. Because at the moment it just seems like David wants him, and Becky wants him, which means it really does just make the most sense for them to raise him together. Why can't we have THAT messed-up family set-up, Coronation Street? Why???
Also, some things that were brilliant happened. Such as David and Steve having a proper argument about Max, and David just facing up to him and not backing down. And Tina not bothering to see where Becky was going because she was TOO BUSY COLOURING. Genius. Sometimes Coronation Street really does just tick all of the 'Amazing' boxes. Oh, and Katie pointed out that Owen is awful and shouty when he doesn't really need to be, and he decided he could maybe live with her being pregnant, because they've decided to have Anna improve him. A lot of things went quite well last night. Although sadly not for Fiz. OH FIZ.
