Hello dudes. I've been busy over the past few days. Busy trying to finish Folklore, and catch up on Hollyoaks. FOR YOU. Maybe. Um. Anyway, I'm hopefully nearly finished with Folklore now - I'm onto the final fight I think, but it's kind of really hard, so I'm just trying to power up my creatures again. Hopefully soon though. And I think I got onto the Hollyoaks episodes from two weeks ago on 4od, so hopefully I'll be done with them soon as well. And then I can get back to - um. Posting about Coronation Street. Maybe.
Anyway. I mostly wanted to talk about TV I watched last night: Vera, and Atlantis.
First Vera. Well. I liked this episode better than last week's, I thought it was better written, and it kept me guessing, even if it did have the same oddly small group of interconnected characters, like last week. There were still some things I thought of that Vera didn't, which is always a bit disappointing when you're watching what's supposed to be a good detective. And I still like Vera and her DI and the acting and everything. And I was pretty sure it was going to turn out to be the daughter, the murdered girl's best friend, who turned out to have killed her, so it did suprise me with who the killer really was. But, sort of on that note - last week the killer was a closeted gay man, and this week it was a woman who appeared to have mental health problems. Unless you assume that murdering the girl caused her problems. But even so. Who's it going to be next week, Vera? A black guy? A woman who sleeps around a lot?
As for Atlantis, I was really looking forward to it. I'd heard it was going to be a dramatisation, so I'd thought it was going to be more of a series than a documentary/episode. But I enjoyed it all the same, right up until we got a massive dollop of women-hating-women right in the middle there. Or women totally being happy to get other women killed so they can have their husbands. But it was mostly interesting all the same. The husband guy had like the worst luck ever though. He went to make an offering, and the ground split and threw a geyser at him. He went to have a dalliance with a priestess in the temple, and an earthquake hit. He went swimming, and a load of fish died. My word. You wonder why they didn't think of sacrificing him sooner, really. His wife made up for it by having THE BEST LUCK IN THE WORLD, though. She apparently managed to hold onto the boat even while unconscious. I am quite glad she lived though, ridiculous and sappy as it was. And - despite sort of hearing about it beforehand - I only realised she was Helena from Mirrormask after the episode, while I was reading the credits. Hurrah. I would still totally watch a series about the Minoans though. If they chose to make one.
Also - this is probably one for the Watchmen (the movie) fans on my flist more than anyone else - a post came up on my flist over the weekend which might be the coolest thing I've ever seen. Suprisingly for me, I think the outfit I like the best is the Nite Owl one. But they're all pretty cool. It sort of makes me want to dress up myself. Not that I can afford most of the clothes in those collections. It did make me have a look at Polyvore though, and even have a go at it myself. I'm not saying that mine is anywhere near as good as the ones in that post, but check it out - now you too (if you had the money and access to the shops that sell the clothes) could dress like Priti from Snowflakes!
Priti (Snowflakes)
I don't have a picture of her, and I don't want to copy and paste someone else's webcomic, so you'll just have to have look at her in this strip, she's the tall one in yellow and black.
I quite like Polyvore. It's fun. Although for a while making that set, I started to wonder if maybe black shoes with no heels existed only in my mind. As you can see, I wasn't entirely successful. But I'm pretty happy with those shoes anyway. And it was still quite fun.
Apparently they're going to be resurfacing the road outside my house for a few days this week, including tomorrow, starting from 6.30am, so I should probably get to bed shortly after this. Hmph.
