girlofprey: (Emmerdale Nathan Pretty Ones Always Insa)

Tonight we had a sort of wealth of Nathan. Nathan in a suit. Nathan doing DIY and hating it. Nicola not completely hating him and them having a sort of decent conversation. Nathan trying to be charming with the lady who's buying his share of Home Farm and the Estate, and getting all alarmed at Declan being weird or not playing along. And then later, drawing the curtains and talking to Maisie. It was like Domestic Nathan. It was great. Nathan said he wasn't going to accept the new woman's offer because she wanted to drop it by £150,000, Maisie said all he was interested in was power and money, and he said "Well, try going through life without either and see how far you get". I just - I love how he is simultaneously transparent but also aware of his own mindset. I don't know, at least he is honest about it. I think that's one of the things I like about Nathan - he is kind of twisted, and a liar, and a schemer, but a lot of the time he's pretty honest. He doesn't pretend to be anything he isn't, not when he's just playing it straight with people. Oh. I love him. Maisie said she had to get out of the house, that she and Will had to get away, and that if Nathan cared about either of them he'd pick up the phone and accept the woman's offer. And Nathan picked up the phone, and dialled a number, giving Maisie an "I'm doing it, okay?" look. Oh.

And yesterday we had casual Nathan with his sister, trying to get back to some semblance of a normal relationship with her. All "hey, sis" and chatting with her about the buyer for Home Farm. While Declan stared at him from across the bar. Note to Declan: be less obvious. Seriously.

I got the last new soap mags with anything to do with Nathan in them, for at least a while, yesterday, and I know pretty much everything that's going to happen next week. A lot of what's happened above is kind of really sad in light of that, but I kind of understand why they're doing it, and especially why they're doing it if they're hoping Lyndon will come back at some point. But oh my God. Nathan.

In other news, I don't normally look at the digitalspy boards anymore, and often regret it if I do. But yesterday I went looking for the Emmerdale posting members' reactions to something that happened last week, and thoroughly enjoyed some of the posts. Highlights included them feeling that Moira and John should perhaps call an exorcist soon for Holly, or "Professor Abraham Van Helsing", and them claiming that Moira and John weren't great parents, but "as sex symbols, they're second to none". It was kind of genius. Though also in some ways disappointing, as usual.

I really need to download all the bits I've missed; must remember to do that today.

Declan can't be less obvious, if he was going to he'd have to admit to himself that what he's feeling for Nathan isn't hate.

I have seen some spoilers too (if he comes back, do you think the soap mags will stop using the picture with the awful hair? It bugs me every time I see it), and oh dear. That's not going to go well.

I would like if in a couple of years Nathan basically pulls the same trick on Declan that Declan did on him - comes back when he's trying to sell, uses a proxy and then swoops in at the end going mwahahahaha.

"as sex symbols, they're second to none"

AMAZING. That - I don't even know where that reaction to the storyline would come from, haha.

It seems like a pretty good way for them to get him back into the village, although obviously not if Declan has to leave for him to come back. Maybe just if he's selling the tenancies or something. On the other hand, Lyndon Ogbourne has said that he like to come back in the future and "it'd be good for someone to teach Cain a lesson". So my idea was for where Charity and Jai get the deed to Wishing Well cottage, but either don't develop it straight away or agree not to develop it through various interactions with the Dingles. But then a year or two into the development some new company is really interested in buying the flats, really REALLY interested, and so Jai and Charity sell but make sure the new businesspeople know that they've made an agreement not to do anything with the Dingle land. And then the head of the new business turns up, and it's Nathan. And he either takes great pleasure in knocking down the Dingle household and not offering much compensation, or doesn't and swans around the village doing his usual thing, but making it pretty clear to Cain that if he wants to, or if Cain bugs him, he can.

OR, it's just in a few years or so, and Declan has this new business deal he has to try to make with the owner of some new company, and he kind of has to make it, he doesn't have a lot of options, but he thinks it'll be okay, he can just go in and charm the guy. And then he goes in, and it's Nathan. And Nathan just looks at him.

That - I don't even know where that reaction to the storyline would come from, haha.

Basically they're just really unimpressed with John and Moira's parenting skills and handling of Holly's drug situation (although I don't even know how they're in the running for bad parents when Natasha was so recently on screen), and yet they're always mentioning how hot John and Moira are. So yes. Not great parents, but as sex symbols they're second to none. Genius.
