I spent 6 hours in the theatre yesterday. It was great. Aside from the part where I ended up running late, and had to buy a £3 sandwich I couldn't eat until the first interval. I had to run out to the Alley Cafe for dinner in the middle interval, and then they put the second part on a bit late anyway. But it was great, it was a really good play, an adaptation of War and Peace. It didn't give me any burning desire to read the book, but it was interesting, the acting was great, and the costumes and settings were brilliant. There was one woman who was meant to be a bit of a spoiled society lady, and they just COVERED HER IN JEWELS, all the time. But it was interesting, I never felt like 'Oh, is it time for the interval yet?', except in the last part and that was just because I knew I'd be walking home. But it was great. The actors played all different characters so you kept getting confused. There was tons of dancing. Some people had Russian accents. One of the girls was meant to be a fantastic singer, and they seemed to have hired a proper singer for the role. I found myself quite attracted to Napoleon. I don't know if that's relevant. But no, it was really great. And I learned who the Decemberists were, so understand a bit more about the name of one of my favourite bands. It was a great plan.
I didn't ride the Colossus over the weekend. But I do have some rather dashing new tea and cake underwear, so hurrah. And I got a glowstick at the Nottingham Light Night thing on Friday, which was lovely.
ETA: Oh my God, LJ. News and Politics? What have you done?
