Matt and Carl Matt and Carl Matt and Carl Matt went to the building site, where Carl was all on his own with a hard hat and a clipboard. Carl was all hostile and thought he wanted to inspect the site, and Matt was all pleadingly 'I thought we could have a chat'. It was great. Carl walked off and started giving him the business speak, and Matt was crestfallen, and said 'don't be like that'. And '(the reason I came here to catch you on your own is because) if we wanted to, we could put the past behind us'. The implications were beautiful and many. Carl can't forgive their angsty breakup that easily however, and just looked and him and was all 'you used me' - just like that - and Matt was all 'regretful look', "I'll make it up to you". BECAUSE THAT IS HOW HE THINKS. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH HE HURTS YOU SO LONG AS HE ALSO WANTS TO TAKE CARE OF YOU. LIKE HE WANTS TO TAKE CARE OF AND BE WITH AND POSSIBLY TOUCH CARL. And it was good. Oh. This is probably less coherent than the scene itself. Carl continued to give him the hard attitude and 'I hate you' talk, but in the next scene they were walking so close together, in that comfortable way, and Carl let slip that their dad loved him again. And blatantly regretted it because it made him think of how much he loved Matthew. And yes :D
I love it because it is blatantly setting up what's going to happen in the next few weeks, when Matthew is forcibly returned to the fold, and they have to learn to love each other again. And I love that the Matthew/Carl relationship has become A Thing on the show. And I love that the actor playing Matt still has 6 months on his contract, and Carl still has people to marry and such, so he'll blatantly be sticking around, so my ship has a bit of a future. And I just love it. Yay.
