Oh, you know he's meant to be a character of mystery, with no background! Still:
People assume that because he's wearing a wedding ring, he was married once. Not so. I think he stole it from one of his victims, to make himself seem more trustworthy. Or just because it caught his eye.
He prefers driving his own car (/jeep), but it doesn't really help you get close to your victims on the open road, so what're you going to do?
He really wasn't expecting Jim Halsey to turn out quite so well.
Ah, now this one's odd, as I haven't actually read the books, except HBP. My canon is fanon. Nonetheless:
I'm still toying with the idea that he doesn't really like Draco that much. Or rather, he likes him, but wishes he'd get off his arse, stop bragging, and start doing something actually useful with himself.
He probably did have a thing for Lily, although possibly grudging. They were both Potions geniuses after all. Maybe he gave her a few pointers.
He really wishes students would stay out of his ingredients cupboard. For their own safety.
Bonus:
He felt really quite bad about Barty Crouch Jr being quite so crazy, and devoted. Mostly because he was older than Barty all those years ago, and should have known better.
He always fantasised about Caroline or Guy taking a ride on his bike with him. But he played it cool when he finally managed to get both of them (after a fashion).
The only time he ever came close to begging someone was with Holly over the baby. He resents that almost as much as he resents her having the abortion.
He may or may not actually be the Devil. I had a big plotbunny once, but never got around to writing it.
(Shock horror) He had a terrible childhood. Probably not so much violent as volatile, and his father just never really paid attention or encouraged him. Photography was probably something he did partly to get out of the house. And he started practising his bullshitting in the last few years at highschool, talking teachers into letting him use the darkroom.
I think he and Gwen would have made a decent couple - something about his overconfidence and Gwen's slight naivety that would go well together, though not really in the long run. Likewise, I think he and Mary Jane would have gotten along alright, if they'd met (y'know, without the black goo).
He was raised Catholic but never really that attached to his faith, except when he found he sort of needed it.
He finds it hard to be really afraid of anything in London Below now that Croup and Vandemar are gone.
He asked Door for his key back, a little while after meeting her again. He always wears it around his neck, but doesn't use it, much like Hunter's knife.
He still can't quite figure out the Marquis de Carabas, though he feels a lot safer with him now.
Bonus:
He's wary of the Market for a long time after returning to London Below, after meeting the Velvet there.
